We have stayed at the Zoetry Paraiso de La Bonita resort five times and this is our second time in an Impressions suite. We have loved the resort and look forward to returning each time. However, the service has fallen off this year. It appears the resort is short-staffed on wait staff. We ordered room service as we were enjoying the room’s plunge pool and waited, waited and waited some more for a couple sandwiches to arrive. Took almost and hour and a half for the food to arrive. The next day we were out and about and got back to the room late and decided to order some soup/sandwiches for dinner. And again we waited...for over two hours. Not the type of service you expect at any resort, let alone one where you are paying more for the Impression Suite. I also have seen some comments about the saragassum. A large quantity is being stored in front of the Impression suites area. Seems an odd choice. While the smell hasn’t been bad, the look is off putting. As I said...disappointed. May have to rethink our next trip. Read less

Yoga in the mornings with Daniel is THE way to set the tone for the day....you will be relaxed and joyful every minute in his presence. Angel and the rest of the restaurant staff make every meal an event, Carlos (one of the butlers) and really everyone at the resort is always looking for a way to make you feel special. First of all let me say that we have stayed at this resort 7 times since 2013 and this is the 2nd time this year. The last 2 trips have both been in the Impressions building. Lets start with the good: 1- Service is still outstanding especially at the pool. Antonio and Pedro did an amazing job for us all week at the pool. Gabriel was our server for 3 dinners and did an amazing job as well. Omar who greeted us each day at the entrance and took care of our bags at arrival and departure was a pleasure. Overall all the staff do a great job and made us feel very welcome. 2- Food is above average for all inclusive resorts. Dragons in the Impressions building was our favorite. Overall breakfast and lunch (most of the time at the pool) were certainly standouts with dinner just being average. 3- Pool and grounds remain very nice and well kept. Certainly not a party pool but that is what we wanted. Now for the bad: 1 - Beach - Water is AWFUL. So much seaweed that the water is brown and smells terrible. We saw 3 brave souls get in the water and all made it out alive. I know this is not the resorts fault to some degree but needs to be known before visiting. They do rake the beach several times daily with a tractor (diesel fumes are very strong at the pool) and have equipment in the water to clear some of the seaweed but we never saw it used. 2 - Smell - Most of the seaweed is piled up in front of the Impressions building and the smell from this is intolerable. We could not use our balcony or the plunge pool because of the smell. Likewise the Impressions pool was not useable for the same reason. For the extra money we paid to be in this location it was a complete WASTE! 3 - Airport transfers which are promoted as private transfers. This was true when we arrived but upon departure we were squeezed into a van with a total of 6 passengers for the ride to the airport. Not a huge deal but certainly not what we have experienced before. They have gone to scheduled departure times from the resort instead of personalized departure based on your flight time. Be ready to spent a lot of time at the airport waiting. 4 - Sunset catamaran cruise - This time we had a very short and hurried trip that was mostly engine powered and very little sailing. Our prior visits we had a "tour guide" who gave us a narration during the trip but none this time. We were rushed back to the dock so that another group could be taken out on the boat who I suspect were paying customers. Yes this is a "free" trip and I guess you get what you pay for. We talked to several guests and overheard others who were very unhappy with the resort for many of the reasons listed above. We were told by the staff that several guests had cancelled and gone to other resorts after arriving here. The place was pretty deserted and I guess that explains why. Overall I would not say to not go to the resort but just have the right expectations. I would not recommend staying at Impressions due to the smell. This may be remedied in which case it would be fine although Im not sure it is worth the cost. You do get a Butler but we are the type that would prefer to get something ourselves instead of asking someone to do it for us. They did make dinner reservations for us at Dragons but none of the other restaurants need reservations. We started asking for some beer and cheese/cracker plate each day just so they had something to do. You also get a nice wake up text message at 7am each day to let you know who your butler is for the day. The rooms are ultra modern where the other resorts room are more of a traditional Mexican style. Our particular room had the west sun blazing into the bathroom each afternoon/evening which made it blazing hot with no curtains. For us the extra expense is not worth the access to the Impressions restaurant (Dragons) and pool. We prefer to be at the main pool anyway where we can interact with other guests. Summary: Great service at restaurants and pool Above average all-inclusive resort food Beach and ocean are not useable due to seaweed Impressions room are overpriced especially if you cant use your balcony, plunge pool and exclusive Impressions pool due to the smell. Save some money and stay in a "regular" room because you wont spend much time there anyway! Read less

My wife and I had visited Zoetry in 2009 to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary and it was the best vacation that we had ever had in our lives. We enjoyed it so much, that we decided to make a return trip for our 25th anniversary last week. Could they live up to our memories and expectations from a decade ago? Absolutely... and in some ways they exceeded our previous trip. First of all, let's get the issue of the beach out of the way. Yes, there is a bad seaweed problem plaguing this part of the Riviera Maya. The hotel works really hard to remove it, but they are fighting mother nature and I'm not sure that they are winning. The seaweed does smell a bit, worse at different times of day or depending on the wind. After a day or so, we got used to it and I didn't really notice it. Please note that the water is only discolored close to the beach and the views of the Gulf are still beautiful from your room. But, if you are looking for a beach vacation, this resort is probably not the choice for you right now. We stayed at the new Impressions section which opened last year. Clearly more expensive, but if you can afford it, totally worth it. We had a one bedroom oceanfront suite with plunge pool that was beyond spectacular. The room was huge and beautifully appointed. The plunge pool was gently heated with a nice waterfall feature and it always felt great to get in at any time of the day. The bathroom was large and modern and there was an outdoor shower that I really enjoyed, along with a sun lounger where you could dry off in the sun afterwards. We went down to the Red Kitchen on the 1st floor every morning where chef Angel whipped up the most amazing breakfast creations that I have ever seen. Everything was delicious and was presented so artistically that I had to take a picture of virtually every meal that they put in front of me. The restaurant "Dragon" at Impressions was also a memorable dining experience and is included for guests staying in that part of the resort. If you are in the main part of Zoetry then you have to pay extra to eat there, but it's worth it. This is a 5 star restaurant. The infinity pool at Impression is VERY quiet and private, and there is service provided there for much of the day. Shout out to Jarlin for seeing to our needs while relaxing by the Impressions pool. We would typically spend the morning at Impressions and then head over to the main pool and hang out there in the afternoon. The service around the main pool is exceptional, just as we remembered it from our previous trip. We loved the ability to order lunch (including sushi) from any of the restaurants and have it brought to us poolside. These guys work really hard. Federico, we remembered from our trip a decade ago, and he is still out there making sure that everyone's needs are met. Eduardo, was another server who did an exceptional job. Now, I'd like to mention two others who made this trip truly extraordinary. We decided to take advantage of the "Art of Forever Vow Renewal" package which was included for free with our room level at Impressions. I reached out to Ms. Liliana Cruz ahead of time and she saw to every detail. I wasn't exactly sure what to expect, but to say that I was blown away is understating the job that she did. It honestly was like a wedding. The setting was beautiful, and my wife had a gorgeous bouquet that was put together by the resort. A young judge by the name of Rafael Galindo was brought in to officiate the ceremony. It was very personal, moving and sentimental, and we were made to feel very, very special for having reached our 25 year milestone. During the ceremony, Ms. Cruz had my phone and took lots and lots of pictures from every angle. That evening, we were treated to a romantic private dinner by the pool that was a perfect ending to a perfect day. I simply cannot overstate the job that Ms. Cruz did in making this event something that we'll remember forever. The next person that I'd like to recognize is Carlos the butler. What an amazing and engaging young man. He was tireless, and was constantly seeking us out to see if there was anything that he could do to make our stay more special. He saw to everything, and was always quick to follow up if there was something that wasn't perfect. We spent a lot of time getting to know Carlos and he is a big reason that we'll be returning more regularly to Zoetry. I'd also like to acknowledge Edgar, another butler who came on in the afternoons and also did a terrific job. On the night of the anniversary, it was Edgar who made sure that our room was decorated incredibly with rose petals and champagne for when we came back from our anniversary dinner. This is a special resort that is now "our place" and we have plans to return every year for our anniversary moving forward. I worry that the situation with the beach is hurting them somewhat, but their service and amenities are so over the top excellent, that I am sure they will be fine. Hopefully the seaweed situation will improve in time. Whatever happens, we will be back again and again. Read less

Just came back from spending 5 days at this excellent resort. If you are looking for your own piece of paradise, quiet, secluded with a staff that attends to all of your needs and then some, then look no further. If chill-axing is what you crave, this resort has it all. The 3 restaurants are really good! The food is amazing and varied with an emphasis on wellness. The Spa is awesome and the activities all centered around taking care of your body, spirit and mind. Make sure you take one of Daniels water aerobic and meditation classes, the guy knows his stuff and is a wonderful person to meet. On the staff side ALL of the pool bar and restaurant staff are amazing. Special call outs to Hector, Francesco and Fredrico. I had read some critical review before I arrived concerning how the walk from your room to the restaurants and pool was quite long. NOT! The walk is 2 minutes and if you are too lazy to walk, there are golf carts to pick you up. The one downside is the seaweed - it's a problem up and down the coast that is out of control of the hotel - a direct cause of the warming oceans. To overcome this, make sure you book the afternoon lunch cruise - snorkeling, swim on a sandbank, lunch and then a leisurely cruise with cocktails 10/10. Read less
