This resort was beautiful, super clean and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Good section of restaurants and the breakfast buffet has something for everyone. You could snorkel right off the beach, swim with turtles, the sea life was amazing. Would definitely go back.

Just came back from a 7 day stay at this resort. Stayed in Building 5, preferred tropical view. The resort is absolutely breathtaking! Beautiful scenery and the beach is beautiful as well. Snorkeling can be done right in front of the resort which was a plus. The service overall was fantastic! Only had 1 server (in the Japanese restaurant) that wasn't very kind, he had a sour attitude. But, other than that everyone else was so very kind and bent over backwards to make sure our stay was amazing. The room was beautiful, very clean but we found the bed and especially the pillows to be very uncomfortable. We know this isn't necessarily the resorts fault as they buy beds in bulk and not everyone likes the same firmness/softness of beds. Sound wise we could hear some people out in the hallways but overall didn't effect us from sleeping. This was our first stay at a Secrets resort and we were not disappointed with the food. Some things were definitely better than others but overall delicious. We preferred the breakfast buffet to the preferred al la carte breakfast (just more variety). Bordeaux (french) had the best desserts, El Patio (Mexican) had the best mains and the Japanese restaurant had the best apps (SUSHI WAS SO GOOD!). Also, really enjoyed the tacos and steak from Seaside Grill. Room service was also pretty good, ordered almost much everything from the menu and enjoyed 90% of it. Drinks were delicious. I really enjoyed the blackberry mojito (frozen as well) -- BRING A METAL OR REUSABLE PLASTIC STRAW FOR DRINKS. My partner enjoyed the margaritas on the rocks as well. We rented a Bali bed for one day and it was very nice. Service was extremely kind and attentive. Pillows were more comfortable at the bali beds than they were in the room (weird, right?) !!CON!!: They DO NOT have enough signs throughout the resort. We got lost on many many many occasions trying to find certain restaurants, the preferred club, even our building! They have many signs under covered walkways but very few for uncovered walkways which is where we got lost. Also, only one map of the resort we could find which was near the lobby. So, personally from this stay we would come back because it was fantastic. But, we wouldn't do preferred club. There isn't enough perks for the price. Read less

Prefered Club Staff, particularly the restaurant were fabulous! Hospitality abounds! Warm, friendly smiles all around. Entertainment staff, best we'd ever experienced. Rene leads the team. We did a bike tour with him. Knowledgeable and informative.

My hubby and I and another couple just returned from a fun and relaxing week. We both stayed in building 4 in preferred club swim-out rooms. I thought both were worth it. I swam laps most mornings before breakfast and the 4 of us hung out in the pool with drinks a couple times. So relaxing! Most nights we would meet in the preferred lounge before dinner for drinks and appetizers. We even walked from the beach back to the lounge several times to get to-go drinks because they were way better. The blackberry margaritas and the mojitos were my favorites. Our group also liked the pina coladas, mango joes, and dirty monkeys. The rose wine was surprisingly good. This was the first AI I've been to where the free wine was decent. We all drank the cabernet and merlot at dinner. We spent most of our time at the gorgeous beach. We rented bali beds 3 of the days and really enjoyed those. They're $55/day, and you can email the resort and reserve a front row bed ahead of time. The snorkeling was awesome! We brought our own gear, but when one of the masks leaked, we used a resort one. They even let us keep it until the next day, so we could snorkel early (the dive shop doesn't open until 9). We saw turtles, rays, an eel, and many, many fish. I didn't use a vest, but my husband did. The undertow was really strong a couple of mornings. We ate at all the restaurants and had lots of great meals, I think each of the 4 of us had a different favorite. The octopus at Oceana was mine. We did most breakfasts and some lunches at the buffet. They were generally good, especially the fresh fruit and the ceviche. We ordered food from the bali beds for lunch, too. I loved the chicken fajitas. We waited in line for the pizzas at the pool (we had read several rave reviews about them), and we were all underwhelmed. So many better things to eat. Service at the restaurants and throughout the resort was outstanding! The only negative we encountered at this resort was the AC. Our room just wouldn't stay cool, especially at night. Our concierge was very nice, and repairmen showed up right away and would think they had fixed it. After 2 nights, we switched rooms, but had the same problem. Our friends also had trouble regulating the temperature in their room. So frustrating! I've stayed in many other Mexican resorts and have never had an issue like this that lasted all week. I heard other people in the building complaining about it, too. All the staff was so nice and responsive, but it never got fixed. Overall, it was a fabulous resort that exceeded my well-researched expectations. Hopefully our AC issues were just a fluke. Read less
