From start to finish our stay at the bel jou was fantastic, the staff are incredible. They are so tentative and really make you feel welcome. The food was outstanding, really well cooked food. The deserts were even freshly home made on a daily basis. Evening entertainment was also decent. Couldn’t recommend any higher.

Went for eleven nights all inclusive through Blue Bay Travel. All went smoothly. The hotel is lovely, the grounds well maintained. The beach shuttle worked well and we used it most days. It is 10 minutes to a wonderful beach. It does not run on Sunday or Wednesday. We were in a garden bungalow, in reality a terraced property, but nice enough. The air con was excellent and quiet. The self service bar at the bottom pool was a nice touch. The views wonderful. The wine excellent, possibly the best I have ever had in an all inclusive. The staff are generally very attentive, but we frequently had to wait for a table to be re-laid as we generally ate dinner fairly late. Breakfast was much the same, plenty of empty tables, but none re-laid. There appeared to be insufficient staff in this area. The biggest issue was the food. It was actually better at Lulu's Cabana. open I think from noon until 5pm, which serves the top pool, than in the main restaurant which was self service. We also ate on two occasions in the Hummingbird restaurant (no extra charge for this) where the menu changes every two days, As nice as it was the food was always no better than warm by the time it arrived at your table, and not particularly inviting. It appears the hotel may of changed hands in the last few months, I wonder if they have cut back on the food budget? I was hoping for better. The evening entertainment was mainly restricted to singers, and on one night a steel drum ensemble. The fire eater had to cancel due to the rain on the night he was due to appear. We did one combined trip by catamaran to the mud baths, (OK but a bit like queueing for a sale) a waterfall, (better) and a beach (poor) to snorkel. Very few fish. If you have been to Sharm you will be massively disappointed. Read less

The staff are what makes this hotel. Yes there are a variety of rooms and views but the welcoming of the staff and their attentiveness throughout the day or during dining made it feel like personal service. Everyone was smiling and happy to be there it makes for the perfect, relaxing holiday. The reception team greeted me each morning by name on my way to and from the restaurant and whole hospitality team were so fun to be around it made us look forward to meal times. We stayed in a garden view bungalow and loved it. All on the flat, no stairs and plenty of space. I don't think any rooms are fully covered in walking to the reception/ restaurant building but we had a brolly in our room which we used in the odd rain shower at meal times. The 2 pools offered a nice variety and the aqua aerobics were so much fun we actually missed them on days we had excursions! We went end of Sept (27/9-7/10) when the island was quiet (no cruise ships docking at all). This meant the hotel had a couple of events booked which did impact the guest experience. Teacher appreciation day took over the whole upper pool and the queues at the lunch buffet were very long with food levels going down very quickly. These teachers were then also given free range of the hotel at the end of the day and encroached on the lower pool where guests were but we couldn't use the upper pool. I would recommend being clearer with event guests where they can and cannot go to take into consideration holiday guests and also maybe putting in measures in place for catering to keep both parties happy (e.g. hotel guests go a la carte or event guests get catering in their event space etc). This was only 1 day out of 10 so wasn't a big deal to us but something to be aware of in future if multiple events are organised at the hotel. Overall, not only would I love to come back to St Lucia, the Bel Jou would 100% be my first place to stay if I could! Thanks team! Read less

The room was kept spotlessly clean. The hotel has two pools - we always got a sunbed and sunshade - it was lovely and peaceful by the pools - no loud music - which was what we wanted. I am a vegan and Alvin the chef went out of his way to prepare me a fantastic meal every night. Breakfast was wonderful - make sure you try the fruit juice made freshly every morning. Lunch and dinner - great selection. Great views from the restaurant in the day time and evening. Dean the hotel manager was lovely - always stopping for a chat. All the staff were great and friendly. We took the shuttle bus down to the beach most days. A great holiday and I would definitely return to this hotel! Read less
