All the plaudits you may read about this little gem of a hotel were for us completely vindicated. With its picturesque views across Castries and the Caribbean sea the Bel Jou offered clean, comfortable and we'll equipped rooms, an amazing array of food and drinks, and an even better team of attentive, friendly and hard working staff. The pools were spotless. The gym modern and just enough to help work up that next appetite. And the entertainment a great focal point for the evenings. Dean (the manager) was regularly on hand for a chat and a check that all was well, and he and his team couldn't have done more to make our holiday a special and memorable one. Thanks guys! Read less

If you can afford it book a beach front. partial oceanview rooms can be noisy because they are close to bar/restaurant and pool and you really can not go to sleep before 11;30 -12;00. I would like to suggest more variety of choices of fruit at breakfast, for 1 week the the same every day. A smoothie bar will be just great. Some fresh juice at the bar like passionfruit will be amazing! but of course with some vodka. I was there when they introduced the A La Carte dinner in a private dinner room and it was great the 2 nights, food was good and the service outstanding... Congratulations ! I also think that shuttle service to Rodney Bay should be more just 2 o 3 times a week. I would prefer for my next stay in St Lucia a beach front property but anyone that prefer a nice small hotel I recommend Bel Jou. Read less

My daughter and I visited Bel Jou recently and had a really lovely holiday. The Bel Jou is super friendly and although I have stayed in some amazing hotels I really liked it here. Our room was on the 4th floor with a lovely view of the Ocean, we had everything we needed from the minute we arrived. All the food and drink is included and other than trips there really is no need for any extra spending. The main restaurant offers an excellent buffet and if you fancy a change then you can go to Lulu's or use the A La Carte. The staff are all wonderful and there's no walkie talkies or other electronic stuff in use like they have in some larger hotels. I think it is the personal nature of the hotel that sets it apart, so even though it may not have the grand furniture etc. of some establishments it is just a really nice place to spend time. I would echo other guests comments about the cleanliness of the pools, they really were kept to a very high standard and the temperature of the water is heaven on earth. Thank you to everyone at Bel Jou for such a charming holiday! Sue and Livvi Read less

We stayed in the Bel Jou from the 28th of April until the 5th of May 2019 and the experiance there was great, very relaxing and peaceful. The main quality of this hotel is the staff. The manager (Dean) has put together a great team to help serve up a delicious helping of St Lucian welcome and kindness. I mean I cannot fault the team at the Bel Jou they did everything they could to make our stay really special and help us relax. From the moment we arrived, check in was no bother, quick and simple. The tour of the hotel before we got to our room took in most of what was needed and could be consumed after an 8+ hour flight. The wait staff are welcoming and happy to interact with you. In fact it may be a St Lucian thing that everyone seems happy to talk to you about whatever it is they are up to. I mean even the gardener was happy to tell us about the plants they had even their little medicinal garden. Accomodation is really clean - really clean, seems everyone from the maid to the manager will quickly clean up anything that is needed to make the place seem spotless. I really liked that. The issue I would say is that the rooms can be quite dark, especially when in the bathroom it was always difficult to see. The other issue is that everything seemed a bit small for me. I'm 6' 2" and yeah the coffee shop, the small cabanna bar all seemed like they were for shorter people which is an odd problem to have. I also had a problem or two with the safe and door locks all quickly rectified extremely by Quincy with the absolute minimum of fuss. Food and drink are great mind, fresh and tasty. The mangoes were just coming into season and like the first crop of mangoes were delicious. The meats as well are really well prepared and their chef needs to be congratulated on their skills. The selection or rum punches and cocktails is good and the bartenders have the skills to mix most anything you could want. Entertainment was good but and their live singers are all capable, but some can be a bit boring choosing to sing older slower songs that I personally didn't enjoy although I can appreciate their talent. The location in castries is nice because being up on the hill you do get a breeze and there are free shuttle busses and numerous tours that leave from the area. But you cannot walk anywhere from the hotel as the roads are a bit risky (from traffic) and the hill is very steep. Overall this is a very friendly hotel run by an amazing bunch of people that is only slightly let down with a few compromises. And I suppose that is why i say 99% perfect as those few little things that stop it from being 100% perfect. Still I would stay there again, maybe in a couple of years as I think by then they will have everything perfect. Read less
