A wonderful, tranquil, peaceful hideaway. Lush tropical gardens, leading to the lovely Bamboo Bar and restaurant by the beach. The staff were brilliant, nothing too much trouble and the food very good and varied. Entertainment was provided but quietly and professionally. The rooms are beautifully appointed with masses of storage and sunken showers and lovely garden views from the terraces. The rooms near the pool apparently are much smaller and don't have sunken showers. The pool is very attractive and there are plenty of loungers for all both at the pool and on the beach. There are lots of little 'hidey' places for people to sit and the beach area is divided so that it appears small everywhere. A lovely hotel that we would absolutely recommend without any reservation. We stayed for a week at East Winds in November and can honestly say that it was one of the best holidays ever. From the moment you arrive, you are treated as a special guest and you realise that it is a happy place: all of the staff are nice and make you feel welcome. They also make you smile and laugh, with special thanks to Roland, Sylvia, Windel, and Junias. Also, Sylvanus was very kind in devoting time to show us round the gardens. The comfortable cottages are set within a lush tropical garden full of birds – we found three types of hummingbirds flying outside the door – and at night you are serenaded by singing tree frogs. The beach is small but lovely – almost private – and the water is calm and welcoming. We tried some of the watersports, and the pedalo and kayaking were fun. The food is really fantastic – marvellous breakfasts (“therapy juice” and other smoothies, the freshly cooked eggs and pancakes are nice), delicious lunches (especially the BBQs) and 4 course dinners where great care is taken over the presentation of the dishes, with seamless service from the staff. The restaurant at night has a romantic ambiance and the varied entertainment is enjoyable and in keeping with the character of the resort. One evening, on my wife’s birthday, the chef prepared a very special meal for us, which was superb. We were tired that day and happened to fall asleep at our cottage before the start of dinner. We were surprised to be woken by the restaurant manager, Titus, at 9.30pm asking if we were OK as we had not appeared. This shows how caring and attentive all of the staff at East Winds are. East Winds really is a little paradise on earth and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet and relaxing time in the Caribbean. Read less

Actually the title is incorrect as it was better then we had remembered it , with little tweaks to improve so many things. This was our fourth visit but the other three were over 15 years ago. This year rather than fly onto another island from another resort , we decided to revisit East Winds and we were glad we did. We had a delightfully relaxing 12 days in a very comfortable and well equipped De Luxe Garden Cottage which was well looked after by an excellent housekeeping team.Food was very good throughout with dinner always including good choices and similarly with the wine. All staff were excellent throughout, always friendly and at the same time efficient.Entertainment was pitched just right- low key but enjoyable. The gardens were beautifully maintained under the watchful eye of the head gardener , Severanus , who does a very interesting and informative garden tour and kindly put up a humming bird feeder by our cottage which added to the delight of its setting. Sports wise- the pool was great for a pre breakfast swim although the sea wasn't so perfect as over the few weeks we were in St Lucia there were some unusual wave patterns .The beach areas were great with enough loungers well spread out and with plenty of towels and beach service available. The watersports team were excellent , friendly and profesional and we enjoyed the SUP, kayaks and a great sail.Loved the fitness trail but the gym, which we managed twice, needs some attention to the equipment to entice you up there! I think it is clear that we had a great time, thoroughly relaxing and wish we were still there! Thanks to all who made it such a great experience. Read less

Despite having a few days of rain we still were able to chill out and enjoy the hospitality of East Winds. The staff are truly some of the best we have encountered - always smiling, laughing and happy to spend time chatting - we really do miss them! This is a perfect holiday for those looking for some R&R. Entertainment is low key (but great) and the pace of life is laid back. Definitely not for those looking for a loud, busy, bustling holiday bit absolutely perfect for us! Thank you to everyone and we will be back for sure very soon! Read less

Comfortable, traditional, understated. If you want miles of brightly lit marble and fountains and anonymity it’s not for you. Comfortable, traditional, understated. If you want miles of brightly lit marble and fountains and anonymity it’s not for you. The most relaxing holiday ever - from the lounge at Gatwick (included in Virgin’s package) to the arrival at the airport (no pushy baggage handlers but take a pen with you to fill out the entry paperwork), then a longish transfer (1.5 hours) to arrive at a quietly lit East Winds and a surreal cacophony of birds and frogs. Little touches like insect repellent in the rooms (and washroom facilities), iron and ironing board for your holiday linens, big umbrellas, all immediately make you feel at home. The staff – waiting and bar – are wonderful and friendly and so cheerful – and it says a lot that, from the cook upwards, they seem to get a free hand to run the place and happily interact with guests. We met Judith just the once, there’s no overbearing, officious management overseeing of this place. The sports guys were absolutely wonderful. Happy to teach you to sail, keep an eye on you while you’re out on a Hobie or kayak or just take you out for a trip around the bay on a turtle hunt. Another small Hobie would be great. A queue tended to develop during our stay it was so popular. Food – consistently good, not cordon bleu intense, but always with “mmm” factor, subtly flavoured by a chef who really knows what he’s doing. We never once got to the pudding stage in the evenings but don’t miss the home-made ice cream if you can make room for it. Entertainment – some really good musicians and some great fun and inclusive dancing and singing nights. We did the sunset cruise – 80 US dollars a person – unforgettable experience of quietly sailing along and seeing the coast and the sunset from the sea all the while drinking champagne and hot canapes. The rum distillery tour at 50 US dollars is to be recommended and make sure you’ve room in your case and enough weight allowance to buy at least a couple of bottles - way cheaper than the airport. There’s a fabulous coffee style Baileys if you don’t like rum. And another feather in the cap for East Winds - it’s cheaper to book trips through the hotel and Simeon accompanies guests on trips so you really can just sit back and enjoy whilst being totally looked after. Weather – second week of November – either absolutely lovey with a breeze or warm and humid for a few hours some days with a handful of daytime cooling showers, overnight deluges – perfect. Read less
