Jade Mountain

St Lucia, Caribbean

The hotel

Jade Mountain wins our vote as one of the Caribbean’s most mesmerising resorts. It doesn’t just offer accommodation it offers a sanctuary, or rather a collection of sanctuaries, in which to completely feel at one with your natural surrounds. It’s also the only resort with a view of both the Petit and Gros Piton mountains, making it an extra special choice for the discerning traveller. Connected by bridges, rooms literally float out onto platforms; a bedroom, a living area, the fourth wall dispensed with entirely and infinity pools strategically placed so you feel you are diving into the view. For sunset drinks with a difference, the Celestial Terrace feels just that — heavenly. Kickback with a cocktail and prepare for some serious stargazing. There’s also a wide range of indulgent spa treatments to be enjoyed and a fitness studio for enthusiasts. And, if the splendour at Jade Mountain isn’t enough, guests have access to all the facilities at sister resort, Anse Chastanet, including restaurants, bars and water sports on two soft sand beaches. Anse is easily accessible on foot or hop on-board the shuttle bus — if you can tear yourself away from paradise that is!

Don't hesitate if you have a chance to stay at Jade Mountain. We can't believe it took us this long to stay, and you won't be disappointed, especially if you love being in the open air all the time. There's not much else to say that hasn't already been stated and we'll certainly be going back!

I waited 5 years to return to Jade Mountain, this time as our 15 year anniversary vacation. I won't repeat everything from my last review, but will try to add any new details and experiences. First off, and best of all, Jade Mountain takes very good care of their returning guests. I was absolutely flabbergasted when we were upgraded upon arrival to a Galaxy sanctuary. That kind of service and accommodation was certainly not expected and very much appreciated. As my last review states, this place is paradise unparalleled, by far the most relaxing, beautiful, indulgent vacation possible. The food was as fantastic as I remember. So many dishes prepared with fresh fruits and vegetables. Fish, seafood, and amazing vegetarian dishes everywhere. We ate exclusively at the Jade Club or in our sanctuary. Every meal felt like some of the best food I've ever eaten, and most of the food comes in portions that don't leave you feeling like you can't walk out of there. I had a medical issue during my stay that required a doctor's attention. Once again, Jade overdelivered. They have a doctor on call 24/7 who helped me with my issue and had medication delivered to me in less than an hour. What could have ruined a trip was taken care of in the most efficient and caring manner possible. These are not things you think about before going on a trip, and not something most resorts "advertise", but absolutely something that would make or break your experience. Lastly, we went scuba diving on this trip (which we didn't last time), and the reef from the shore dive was absolutely incredible. Healthy corals, thousands of fish, all just steps from Jade. The dive master was so nice and made for a great afternoon. We "upgraded" to the sunset jazzy cruise from the half day sail, which was fine and fun, but I think I would stick with the sailing trip if I were to do it again. All in all, I will most definitely be back and this place overdelivers in every way possible. Read less

The rooms, called sanctuaries, are truly incredible offering breathtaking views, a private plunge pool, and a beautiful canopy bed where you can sleep under the stars at the perfect temperature every night. The dining is equally incredible and changes each night. You'll be pampered by the majordomos who are always there to cater to you at any time. This was the most beautiful trip and an unforgettable stay of a lifetime. Read less

This is sort of an uneven review. Mostly because there were parts that were amazing but parts that we did not like. I will start with the good: -views were amazing. May be the best views of anywhere in the Caribbean from the room. Pretty cool that the birds fly in and eat some of the food -food was top notch. Good enough to be comparable to high end restaurants in major North American cities and way, way better than anywhere we have been in the Caribbean The not so good: -it was hot in the rooms. Some reviews say you don’t notice the heat, and I am honestly confused by these reviews. It was ok at night but during the day it was unbearable. My wife and I often come to the room for a nap after being on the beach in the day, or just for some relief from the heat. You couldn’t do that, and there was no escape from the heat. This was a huge huge deal for me. It ruined a good portion of the trip, and I would not go back because of this alone. I don’t travel to be uncomfortable, and I was. Now that I’m back in Canada I sometimes walk outside even though it’s winter and think at least I’m not in the unbearable inescapable heat like in that resort. I realize the open 4th wall is the point, but this was awful, and I strongly urge anyone who uses a/c at home to reconsider. -we booked a sky suite with no pool. This was depressing and dark. There was no plunge pool. We upgraded halfway through and the new room was less depressing. That being said—the sky suite is still part of jade mountain and still expensive, and the rating reflects this -was more noisy than we would have liked, I could hear staff talking outside our room loudly -you need a shuttle to get around unless you take the stairs. The shuttle is slow to get to you. It’s also needed because (see above) the heat is unbearable and you won’t want to walk up 6 flights of stairs -both room layouts with the open toilet were bizarre. I get an open wall, but why not put a divider where the toilet is? -the staff were mixed. We had a good and mediocre butler. Some staff seemed annoyed if we asked them for something—including one of the butlers. Was slow to get them to bring things to the room. The restaurant staff were mostly good. Overall less than would be expected at this price point. To summarize, good food and views, but a reasonable amount of issues, and I would not return. Too expensive for what you get, and we travel often and have stayed at more expensive resorts. Read less

It is difficult to describe what a unique and luxurious place Jade Mountain provides. Everything was great. The rooms, the view, the food, the staff, and the amenities. Transportation down to the private beach and up to the top restaurant (165 steps, I counted) comes promptly.
