The hotel

On the site of the oldest cocoa plantation in St Lucia, the Rabot Hotel is definitely one for the chocoholics amongst you! Having said that, for the rare being that doesn’t delight in the dark stuff, this is pretty wonderful too. In a stunning location, with magnificent views of Gros Piton, luxurious mountainside lodges combine relaxed St Lucian charm with the ultimate in contemporary sophistication. Echoing the rich tones of freshly harvested cacao, dark woods exude cosy warmth with four-poster beds, a rainforest shower and freshly made chocolate treats (of course!) definite highlights. The spa too utilises the area’s natural treasure with a variety of creams, oils and scrubs, all made on the premises, specifically designed to harness the rejuvenating powers of the pod! You can even learn to make chocolate yourself at the Tree to Bean experience – truffle anyone? If you’re a foodie, you’re in for a serious treat at the Rabot Restaurant. Start the evening with a delicious mango, chilli and white chocolate margarita before perusing the delights on the menu, which is pioneering to say the least, exploring both the savoury and the sweet nature of chocolate. Fresh seafood is also to be found in abundance, accompanied by the finest of wines for an experience that is nothing less than sublime.

Image of the Tripadvisor rating The absolute best hotel and experience we could’ve ever asked for

The best hotel we have ever stayed in. Truly a dream vacation and hotel. The views, the amenities, the pool, the food, the drinks. It was a culinary adventure along with the soufriere experiences. The hotel reception set everything up for us. Will be back for a future anniversary

We stayed here only one night, as our other hotel had booked up. Pros: great views (from the restaurant), friendly staff, lovely grounds, and delicious food. Cons: it’s LOUD - I don’t mind nature sounds, but the clanking of dishes, others conversations, it felt like we were sleeping under the restaurant. Our room had no view which was disappointing, we had to keep the shutters closed for privacy due to the location of our cabin, which also reduced airflow. We tried to shower, but the shower head had so much buildup it didn’t work properly and was spraying in every direction - but down. I would probably be less frustrated if it was less expensive to stay here. Have your dinner here. Wander the grounds, but stay elsewhere. I recommended Sugar Beach. Which is just up the street. We will not stay here again, we’ve been to several eco lodges (eg Copal Lodge) and this one has a few more kinks to work out. Read less

We stayed at Hotel Chocolat in November 2023 for 3 nights for our 25th wedding anniversary. It was a really special few days. We really enjoyed walking around the estate. There are marked routes to follow and places to sit and enjoy the spectacular landscape and wildlife, including a hummingbird. The lodge was very comfortable with every facility except air conditioning. However the design of the lodges means there is constant airflow and a fan as well. There is noise from insects and birds, but earplugs are provided if needed. The staff were excellent, nothing was too much trouble and Miss Henrietta, the new restaurant manager went out of her way to make our anniversary very special. We very much enjoyed the Project Chocolate bean to bar experience and Vernice was an excellent host. The market style food at Project Chocolate, a 10-15 minute walk from the hotel was also excellent. The restaurant food was excellent and much of it locally grown on the estate. There’s an obvious cacao theme to most dishes and the desserts are to die for. Read less

My boyfriend and I came in and wanted to stay close to the Sulphur Springs and Pitons. This hotel did not disappoint. Everything was close. And the hotel was beautiful. I really love being cool when I sleep, but the wind and the open floor concept really made it feel so good at nightl=. Read less

We LOVED our experience staying at the Rabot. We stayed here for the 2nd half of our honeymoon and absolutely loved it! The staff and the events happening around the resort are fabulous and so kind! The restaurant is to die for! We were worried the chocolate thing maybe over done but, it was tastefully added to each dish and they even made so many special exceptions for my allergies and preferences. The included breakfast was amazing! Once they knew I was gluten free and dairy free they provided so many options including my own pancakes, smoothies, breads etc. the rooms were nicely kept and the truffles and snacks left each night were a great bonus also. We thought we’d want to go out and try many other restaurants in the area but, after eating at Rabot, we loved it so much and went back night after night! We requested a fan be brought to our room one evening and they brought it right away. After I had a slight sun rash we also asked for some fresh aloe and next thing we knew, a whole fresh aloe leaf was left in our fridge cooling for us! Amazing attention to detail, and an amazing different from the main stream experience. As someone who also is not outdoorsy or a camping person, the cabins were comfortable and the bugs were not a bother most of the time. The pool and grounds are wonderfully kept, the trails offer a nice walk/hike, and they even provide a little cell phone for your stay in your room. 12/10 recommend everyone stay here and experience the Rabot firsthand!
