What a wonderful break at Sandals Grande St. Lucian. The staff were lovely, Daisy, Jamila, Kendra and Deandre (HPT) looked after us very well as we enjoyed the lovers lagoon pool. The restaurants were excellent Arvenell at Toscanini was always smiling and helpful. Laurin at Barefoots was friendly and efficient. There was a choice of many wonderful restaurants each offering something special. Gordon’s on the water was a beautifully romantic restaurant and Antonius and Lenesa treated us as VIPs. The rooms were well appointed with generous sized bathrooms, plenty of storage and lovely toiletries. Andrea looked after our room beautifully and ensured we had plenty of drinks and a bottle of wine each evening. We used the Lover’s Lagoon pool most of the time, which was quiet and peaceful. There weren’t many umbrellas there, but when it was raised with reception, the next day 5 brand new sun umbrellas were set up. There were plenty of beach towels and in that area there was no problem getting a sun lounger, although it was busier at the main pool. The only down side of the holiday was the transfer to the resort. The drive was quite unsettling with the minibus driver driving very fast and close to the vehicle in front, often overtaking on blind bends. For our return journey we booked a private transfer and Herman was a much steadier and safer driver. Read less

We just returned and loved our stay. We traveled with a group of friends who had varying room categories, and everyone was satisfied. We had the butler team of Sabie, Shervan and Kenwin who worked hard every day to satisfy guests. We did not use them for the full list of things Sandals website promises, and I don't think it's even possible for them to accomplish everything on that list for every couple. I wish Sandals would lessen their expected load.. They were all amazing. We loved every restaurant and all the food choices. The sunsets and views were amazing. We took a boat/snorkeling/island tour and loved it. The ferry on the way there and the helicopter on the way back were great! We tried paddleboarding and the hobby cats, and the watersports guys were great. Jean Claud, thanks for the tour:) The only cons I would have for this resort is the wait staff sometimes moving a little slower than you would expect or not acknowledging people. (and we try to always be on island time) The pool bar staff could also use more help during busy times. We started ordering 2 drinks each time to the bar and made sure to return before empty:) Read less

We are Sandals returners and we always knew that there would be a comparison with the first fabulous visit we had to Grenada. I would rate our visit to The Grande St Lucia as just above average. A. Our room was adequate, but I was not happy to find two lots of clumps of hair on the carpet in the room and in the bathroom on arriving in the room. However, after that concern, I confirm that the cleaning in the room was a good standard. Tyla was our cleaner and we left her an appropriate tip. B. My biggest disappointment was the final night of booking a meal. We had booked the three required restaurants. The Bombay, Gordon’s and Kimonos. I have the bookings on my phone. Kimonos was excellent. Bombay was not up to standard, and was extremely spiced. I suffered from heart burn during the night. Our worst experience was Gordon’s. We decided to take advantage of the setting and have a drink on the pier at the fire pit. At the required time 8 pm, we approached the desk, to find that they had no notice of our booking, having to write up our room numbers. They then hurriedly put two tables together but it was in the middle of the deck, just outside the cooking area. One of the tables rocked and as people passed, the tables moved. We were offered the cocktails and wine, but were given plastic dirty glasses. On querying this to the Maitre D Philip, he stated that although everyone else had proper glasses, they had run out! We complained about that, the table, and where we were situated. With a reluctance, they moved us to again a hastily set up table at the end of the restaurant where we were left for over half an hour before service and taking our orders. I felt very strongly that the waiting staff had been made aware that we had complained, and should be left alone. The three members of the party had good starters and main meal. I had the same meal as my partner, but suffered from severe stomach pains during the night and the next day. Due to the lateness of our order and being the last ones in the restaurant, we did not have a dessert. It was a complete disaster, a bad experience for our last meal given that this restaurant was the main restaurant. C. Once again, the somewhat over enthusiastic other guests, particularly from the USA, with the booking of sun beds early in the day and taking over the main area is very disappointing. D. Luckily we were able to make good use of a quiet pool area near our garden room, but I had to request that the towels be replaced more regularly, and sunshade be provided. Once it was realised that we were regularly in situ in this area, three young ladiesJamilla, Kendra and Daisy provided excellent service with the offer of refreshments. They are a credit to Sandals. To sum up, I definitely would not go back to the Grande St Lucia. We tried the Halcyon on a day visit. Same problems with the beds and the USA guests, but the lunch time buffet was brilliant….. much better than the Grande. I hope that this reaches the appropriate Managerial status and would welcome comments from them. Read less

Where do I start? All in all I would give this all inclusive resort less than one star. The female staff were very short with us with anything we asked. When we would ask them anything it was like we were putting them out of their way. The male staff were much better with us. I do want to say that there was one of the waitresses at the breakfast buffet that was very nice. Her name is Ivana and has a deep English accent. There was also a local gentleman that was very tall that worked in the Old English Pub as a waiter. He actually joked with us and was very friendly. I happened to leave my phone on the table and he was going to bring it to our room when he saw us in the lobby. There was a bartender that worked at the pool bar that was also friendly, his name was Peter. Now to the not so good stuff. We found that the only food that we really liked there was at the breakfast and lunch buffet along with the Old English Pub. Any of the other restaurants that you needed reservations for such as Gordons, we found the food was inferior to other Sandals we have been at. And the next morning myself and my fiance along with the couple we went with had bowel issues. This was not a good day to have something like this since were flying home that day. The hours for all of the restaurants and bars seemed to be all over the place. We never knew when one would be open or closed. One night we were looking for a restaurant to go to. We ended up over at the Barefoot one on the beach. There were 2 female staff members at the front of the restaurant. We asked if the restaurant was open and they very sarcastically informed us that it wasn't without just telling us that it would be open at 6PM. They just walked away from us. There was an instance where I asked for more waters and instead of just giving me more, they informed me at the front desk that I needed to leave room service a note. After I did this there were waters delivered to my room 3 times that day so I took them all. Not really sure if the staff communicates well with each other. The housekeeping was really good for the first few days. After that they weren't sweeping up any sand on the floors making the floors very slippery. We found that the locals on the beach were more inviting and friendly at times than any of the staff. We will not go back. Read less

We were celebrating my wife’s birthday and had a great time. Once you learn that you need to be up before 6 am to reserve your chairs by the beach or pool, it becomes a game. One day I reserved chairs on the beach (we wanted shade, so we scoped out chairs all day on our first day there) only to come back and find someone else had left their stuff on them. Not wanting to be rude, I simply placed their items on the table and waited. A woman came over and said, “Excuse me, that’s our stuff.” I said it was no problem…she picked her stuff up and left. Not sure if she thought I grabbed “her” chairs or not. I was ready to ask what time she placed towels on the chairs to reserve them, but happily, didn’t have to do that. But you need to be there very early to reserve your chairs. That being said, the beach is very nice. Calm, small waves…beautiful waters…tons of fish. The pools are also great. The bar at the main pool served great drinks…and we enjoyed sitting in the water while having them! Our room (Club Sandals level) was fine…but the view was truly spectacular. Beautiful grounds, pool and Caribbean Sea views right out the window. How can you have a bad day here? We tried 10 of the 13 restaurants and truly enjoyed the Japanese restaurant, Kimono’s, the most. Toscanini’s (Italian, of course) was also fun and we enjoyed a nice dinner here. We had heard Gordon’s was the best restaurant of all, so we booked it immediately upon being checked in (you cannot reserve anything until you are on-site). I had been in touch for nearly 300 days with the staff, because I wanted a special experience for my wife’s birthday, and reminded the Club Sandals staff of it when I asked for the reservation. We ended up with a table that was not what we expected. But the staff at Gordon’s worked with us and provided a great table outside the restaurant on the dock with a spectacular sunset view. Thanks to them, her night was special. We were there to relax…it has been a tough last three months for us…so a trip to the spa was on tap. My wife had a facial and I got a massage (surprisingly, we were both in the same treatment room together). The staff was very nice and we left feeling great. Almost every staff person at the resort was kind and friendly…always asking if we needed anything. PRO TIP - Book the helicopter ride from the main airport to the small one near the resort. Well worth the money. We had two carry-on bags and they were able to take them on the copter with us. We had a nice driver from the small airport to Sandals who was very informative. Just note that we thought we would be on the helicopter within fifteen minutes of checking in…guess it was super busy because we waited in the Sandals Lounge for about 75 minutes. The helicopter ride is about fifteen minutes, and it is spectacular. We did take the shuttle van back at the end of our vacation…it took about 90 minutes over a windy, hilly route…but not too bad. This was our first time at Sandals and while we did not take full advantage of the amenities (FREE GOLF!), we enjoyed the entertainment in the evening. Overall, would highly recommend Sandals Grande St. Lucian! CAVEAT: Bring snacks…they do not have as much as a salted peanut or a chip at any bars! They have everything else, though! Read less
