Linus was our man and he was great. Even helped prepare one of in room cooked meal. The grounds are beautiful and ocean is calm and enjoyable. Of course for this level of comfort, convenience service and quality it is expensive. For the week I spent double what Iv paid to Maui or the Moon. Yes the moon, I like to travel. Breakfast is the best meal and great buffet. Everything else is just fancy bit rich but tasteful. Read less

I am a 50-year-old mom who has done a fair amount of traveling (Brazil, Hawaii, Costa Rica, Mexico, Greece, Turkey, France, Iceland, Canada, various US national parks, etc.). I am delighted to say that the vacation my family recently experienced at Sugar Beach was, by far, the most luxurious of them all. Sugar Beach is a truly special location, a tropical paradise filled with gorgeous flowering plants and trees, situated right between the Piton mountains. Although man made, the white-sand beach is stunning, and the surrounding healthy coral reef just off shore is magnificent to behold under water. My husband and I went on a SCUBA trip that had crystal-clear visibility. We were mesmerized by the gorgeous iridescent coral formations and plentiful tropical fish. The following day my husband got certified to hunt lionfish (which are invasive to the reef), and he had a great experience spear fishing with a dive instructor! The hotel chef cooked the fresh lionfish right on the beach at Bonte Restaurant, and we had an absolutely delicious dinner. My family also attended a night snorkel with flashlights with two of our teenagers, and it was an incredible experience. We spotted tons of fish, lobsters, some eels, and even an octopus! The waterfront staff were excellent with the kids. This was an ideal location to learn how to dive, and the resort does offer an introduction to diving for people who are not yet certified. I loved the fact that you could SCUBA or snorkel right off the beach. In addition, the dive sites to which we traveled were just 5 minutes away in either direction, an easy ride for a person like me, who often gets seasick on boat rides. Seasickness was not an issue for me at all during this trip, a small miracle. The upkeep of the resort itself was meticulous. Our spacious, snow-white villa with a private plunge pool was spotless. We were impressed by the dedicated cellphone that could be used to reach our butler at any moment. We nicknamed the phone "Janet" after the character on the Good Place who magically delivers whatever the humans need at a moment's notice. Sugar Beach is a terraced structure, built into the surrounding steep heels. As someone who loves to walk and get exercise, the steepness was just fine with me. Older folks or those with physical challenges might struggle with the hills, but there was also the option of utilizing the hotel's robust shuttle system. Remarkably, I felt in better physical shape at the end of the vacation than at the beginning. The daily breakfast was fantastic. My children loved the crepe and acai stations, and I enjoyed having a morning salad and tons of fresh fruit. The French pastries were out of this world. My only critique regarding the food would be the prices for the buffets, which were quite high. That being said, the beach barbecue buffet had an excellent array of delicious food choices, and my kids went crazy for the dessert table. The desserts included a chocolate fountain, cotton candy station, unlimited candy, S'mores, and tons of delicious cakes, cookies, tarts, etc. It felt much like attending a wedding and indulging in a fancy Viennese dessert table. The excursions were also pricey, but extremely enjoyable. In addition to the water activities, my daughter and I loved climbing the "Gros Piton" mountain. My other daughter, who hates hiking, had a wonderful time making her own chocolate bars at Hotel Chocolat. The entire family had lots of fun on the Superman waterfall hike, where we learned about the medicinal properties of many local plants. Lastly, we took a taxi ride to Soufriere, where we enjoyed touring the botanical gardens and the Diamond waterfall. This excursion was much less expensive, because the only significant cost was the taxi ride. In summary, Sugar Beach is well worth the trip for anyone who loves great food, top-notch service, and magical scenery, both above and below the water. Read less

Beautiful pristine beach! It’s very low key and quiet. You have to park up the street in the free parking and walk down if you aren’t staying at the resort. The walk back up is horrible but we had a nice person from the hotel pick us up and drive us back to our car. The people are so friendly and helpful everywhere in St. Lucia.

Sugar Beach is a wonderful sophisticated resort, nestled between the Pitons is an idyllic and unique location. The beautiful villas and exceptional service set it apart from many other resorts I’ve previously stayed. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, that said there were a few things that fell short for us but they certainly didn’t spoil or time and I’d love to return. As a family of four with teenage children we stayed in a Two Bedroom Ocean View Villa Residence with pool which was simply stunning. Offering ample indoor and outdoor space with a modern and contemporary feel. The house was well equipped and maintained to a high standard. We were lucky enough to be at the bottom of the hill, within easy walking distance to the all resort amenities beach and main hotel. The resort is very steep and spread out so some accommodation may be a real hike and feel a little cut off, although shuttle service is excellent. The Butler service (thank you 😃Markenzie) makes your stay more relaxing and seamless, taking care of every request. Arranging trips, restaurant reservations, taxis, shuttles around the resort, housekeeping times, even milk for the fridge! The list goes on…. It also allows Check in and check out at your property making it easy and effortless. Resort Positives Shuttles were super efficient, arrived in minutes and sometimes seconds! Butler service (had to give it a second mention) Saltwood Restaurant- fantastic Food, service and setting (ask for a table on the balcony to maximise the amazing view) Cane Bar Restaurant- Lovely food and great service, highly recommend a visit The Beach Sunbeds are plentiful and although not necessary can be reserved. Service is good, the blue flag provided to wave to get attention is a great touch. Resort Negatives Breakfast wasn’t in keeping with the overall standard of the resort and the biggest disappointment of my stay. Buffet style with a decent choice but generally underwhelming, and items such as Eggs Benedict were only offered on an a la carte menu at an extra cost. Set up looked temporary and service offered for coffees was very hit and miss. Bontes restaurant was nice for a less formal evening offering its standard menu but the Beach BBQ night which was not a Beach BBQ night, really disappointing and an absolute ripoff at USD150 per person. I’d expected tables set up on the beach with flames, music, and a bbq offering freshly cooked meat, fish etc. In reality you ate in the restaurant at the usual tables with what was mainly a buffet, there was a bbq on the beach but food was limited and pre cooked and warmed up, making in very dry. The Food choice was plentiful but a real mish mash, from sushi to roast beef, roast lamb, Yorkshire pudding and gravy ??? Pool Area was well kept but felt a bit sterile and not at all welcoming, again not what I’d have expected from a resort of this standard. Taking everything into account Sugar Beach is a Beautiful resort if they addressed my negative comments I might never want to leave. Read less

So many wonderful things to say about the resort! It is expensive but the location, amenities, and customer service are worth it. Our butler as well as all the staff - drivers, servers, gym attendants, spa attendants/therapists, fitness coaches, management were all kind and attentive. All of them had friendly attitudes and kindly answered any of my questions. The butler service is so helpful in trip planning although of course you could do this in advance on your own if you desired. Shout out to Peter for being so friendly and professional! The island is of course small and it was helpful to have the butler make any arrangements for you - ie, sunset table at Dasheen (a neighboring resort restaurant) or excursions. The food overall was quite good. It is pricey but this is a small island where many things are imported so I find it expected. I would also recommend choosing items in the menu that are locally grown or caught/farmed. The quality of the local fish and fruit, for example, is excellent. Do try the creole dishes as well. It was nice having a variety of restaurants to choose from at the stay without feeling strongly you needed to leave. We loved the ceviche and fish dishes, particularly at Cane bar best. I do wish they offered more local, fresh-caught fish on the menu (“fish of the day” served in various ways, which I never saw on any menu and was surprised). We came here as a couple as a getaway with a babysitter at home (yesss!). The resort is quite family friendly as well and we may return as a family. As a couple, we loved the dining, the beach, the snorkeling, the gym, and the comfortable beds. My only complaint is about privacy. The resort overall prides itself on privacy. We booked a beach bungalow thinking it would be lovely by the beach. It was, however, far from private. Our bungalow (12) is closest to the main sidewalk to the beach to the chairs and also adjacent to the staff hut for beach food/drink orders. From 7 am - 7 pm there were employees literally steps away from the private lounge pool and deck of our room (just doing their jobs of course!). There are few photos online of rooms but the ones of the bungalows are a bit deceptive - there are a few at the opposite end (21-25 I think) that are private away from beach chairs/traffic with more private pools. These are what are photographed and from where my expectations were based. I did not ask to move and thought I may get an upgrade upon arrival given booking with travel agent, but the resort was fully booked and I do not think it was possible. I would chose a more private area next time. But I will say the beach and all areas of the resort are extremely convenient to the bungalows and enjoyed that part of the location! The interior of the room was gorgeous and appeared to be new (or newly renovated) within the last 1-2 years. Read less
