The hotel

When you arrive at the front of the Soco House, you'll feel like you've been transported to South Beach, where vintage Art Deco architecture meets contemporary sophistication. The white and blue theme gives it a breezy, beach vibe and will have you chilling out on the sand in no time. Positioned in the island's leading tourist location, you've got shops, bars, restaurants and excursions right on the doorstep, but you'll have to drag yourself away from this stylish hotel first. The pool bar is the perfect place to chill with a cocktail, or indulge the senses at the spa with a massage - the choice is yours. The food is nothing short of exceptional, with an intimate vibe in the restaurant that is reflected all over the hotel - this really is the place to be seen this year!

Staff were very friendly and plentiful. Our courtyard room was clean at all times and the bed and pillows very comfy. The furniture was serviceable but the drawers a bit stiff but quite deep. There is a safe in the wardrobe for valuables. The air con worked like a dream. The shower leaked slightly if we showered one after the other but nothing that a towel didn’t soak up and could be dried by putting it outside on the wall. Food was lovely. Breakfast menu same every day but something for everyone. Evening menu repeated for two days in a row but several choices so we didn’t find it a problem. Service a little slow at times but hey you’re on holiday so no rush! Pool was never too crowded and although not enough sun beds for everyone never had a problem getting one as there are also deckchairs, cabanas and 3 round loungers at the head of the pool. A covered seating area also at top of the pool. Bar stools on three sides of the bar and covered seating area with tables and stools. Cocktails delicious, Piton lager also went down well. Beach/sunbed towels available from reception and also a cool box to take to the beach which was 5 mins walk away with sun beds and umbrellas at no cost (turn left when you get to the beach and SoCo Hse beds there). Sea was lovely and warm. Taxis don’t take too long to call to the lobby if you need one - staff happy to call one. Small town 15/20 mins walk away with a supermarket but is a bit pricey. Also restaurants and bars on the walk to town if you want a change but we didn’t use any of them. We had a lovely relaxing stay at SoCo Hse for a week and would definitely go again. We booked trips through our holiday rep and one before we went and would definitely recommend the land sea tour of the island and the aerial gondola ride through the rain forest and the hot springs/mud painting. Also check out the rooftop bar as great for seeing the sunset. Read less

Soco House provided just what we needed - spending most days by the beach . Soco has its own section with the wonderful Sean there to settle you in for the day . The beer ( or 2) :-) from the cooler provided was a nice idea. We ate well and were never hungry - plenty of selection and we even ordered pizza one lunchtime . Do take a walk to the left of the hotel , there are a couple of nice spots along there to see the sun rise / set . We ran around here most days . We also spent the day at the beach at Pigeon Island - which is worth a visit - the taxi outside the hotel costs 20 dollars each way . Our room was kept spotlessly clean , even with all the sand we inevitably brought back each day - we slept so well and heard very little noise atall at night . Nearly all the staff we had the pleasure of meeting were lovely- nothing was too much trouble . As the days go by they really get to know you . Edmond the hotel manager was often around and happy to chat to us . Holidays are what you make them so if you want a relaxing , value for money holiday this is a great choice - ignore those who seem to find fault at every little thing ! Read less

Our flight got canceled in st Lucia so the airline put us up here for a night. They put like 30 couples here. They were very accommodating and even had a supper to go box ready for when we arrived at 9pm! It’s just a quick walk to the beach at Rodney Bay and it’s beautiful! The rooms were very pretty! We have just returned from 10 nights at The Soco House and we enjoyed every minute. Staff - we found them helpful and of course some appear more helpful than others, that is just different personalities but they all helped with whatever we asked for. Bars - The bar staff were good fun especially Jamie and Charles. They made the best cocktails and my husband is now a convert to BBC's - Banana, baileys, coconut and of course rum!! You can ask for drinks to fill the fridge in your room but we found apart from water we didn't need to do that as everything is readily available either in the restaurant or the three bars. The Roof Top bar closes after sunset and we think that is because of the vertical steps up to it! It wouldn't be wise to come down those after too many drinkies ha ha. The outdoor bar closes at 10pm so that people aren't disturbed in their rooms and the indoor bar closes at 11pm so if you are a party person you would have to head out after that time to the bars and clubs in Rodney Bay which is a 10 -15 minute walk away. Food - The food is A la Carte which we loved, the menu changes every two days and has plenty of choice. We didn't find any of the wait time excessive. We even ordered pizza one night which wasn't on the menu and that was delivered piping hot in 30 minutes and was delicious. We only did this as we don't eat fish and on that particular night the menu was a little fish heavy so that was just us being fussy! Beach - The beach is lovely. Grab a coolbox which you can order and collect after 10am from the hotel and head to the beach. Everyone recognises that you are from Soco House due to the coolboxes and will point you to the sunbeds and Sean who will look after you. Yes some of the beds and parasols are a little worn but we noticed that new ones had arrived the week we were there so maybe replacements are being made. Sean was constantly moving our parasols to keep us in the shade, be warned the sun is very strong and it is easy to burn. There are sports and tours available to book on the beach and other places to eat if you fancy a change, we had a BBQ lunch one day and it was very good. There are the lucky lucky men on the beach but they aren't aggressive and will wander off if you aren't interested and tell them no thank you. Housekeeping - was good, the bed was changed regularly and the room was kept spotless, not an easy job with the amount of sand we seemed to bring back with us from the beach. We did end up with no hand towels one day but we had lots of large towels so didn't struggle and a quick call to reception could have reslolved that issue. Overall we had a lovely time and thought the hotel was very good value for money and would recommend it. Read less
