The rooms were large and well equipped. Housekeeping was lovely. Restaurant very good. It was difficult every day to get chairs and umbrellas on the beach. The chairs we did get were in very bad condition. Front desk was not helpful. Beach was beautiful.

We have stayed at The Sands many times. We love the location, the grounds are immaculate, the service is excellent from check-in to departure. The staff at beach goes out of their way to accommodate guests. Hemingway’s food and service is excellent. Even with construction - we immensely enjoyed our stay - November 8-17, 2023. Are… Read more

This is the worst place we have ever stayed in. Plenty of people running around the property ….NO one actually seems to be doing anything !! Issue after issue … lots of sorry. We are generally travellers who like to explore and not just sit around on the beach. For various reasons (one of them food poisoning at a restaurant in town three days after we arrived), we wound up doing much less exploring than usual, and hung out a lot at the The Sands. We were surprised that we had such a good time just hanging out at the resort. The room - we had a two bedroom ocean view and it was beautiful. Everything you could want, huge balcony, equipped kitchen (for simple meals only like breakfast or lunch - I wouldn't try to cook dinner in the kitchen we had just because of lack of equipment I am used to), lovely grounds. The view was spectacular. Pool and beach - We had no issues getting beach chairs or umbrellas (and this was March break). Towels were a bit of a problem sometimes. A fantastic beach though. I love walking on the beach in the morning, and this was the perfect beach to do that. The pool was nice, but we spent very little time using it. Note that we were surprised by the current in the water. I don't know if it was unusual, but we are all fairly strong swimmers (my husband used to swim competitively) and it made swimming unpleasant. I did use the SUP one day but had to fight the current (and I paddle board a lot) so much that I did not take it out again. Could have just been the time of the year. We did try snorkelling at various locations, and always had a strong current. My husband and son took out the hobie cats a few days, and really enjoyed that. Restaurant - Hemingways was a convenient option to have. The food was good, and the view was amazing. The Service - usually very good. Housekeeping asked us when we wanted them to come, and that worked out well. The only issue we had was on check in. They gave us room keys that did not work with the locks. The door had been propped open so we were able to enter the room, but even after calling the front desk about the issue and being assured new keys were coming, nobody showed up. My husband went to the front desk after we waited an hour and eventually got keys that worked. Convenience store - there is a small convenience store onsite. Don't let the photos mislead you. There is almost no food/snacks in the store. We were all hit with food poisoning very badly one night from eating a pizza in town and could not get any ginger ale, soup or bread there. Overall, we really enjoyed ourselves and would stay at The Sands again. Read less

I rated this resort a 5 because the rooms were very clean , the property was well maintained.. the hotel housekeeping staff very professional. the reception staff needs additional training. The only restaurant on site, the Hemingway staff was rude. We waited 2hrs after ordering our food to receive it.
