I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Grand Hyatt in Mumbai on two separate nights within 2 weeks for a business trip. Rooms -- First Stay: My flight arrived in Mumbai Airport at 11:30 PM so I got the hotel about half past midnight. I had checked-in via the Hyatt app while I was on my flight and was upgraded from my "King Room with Courtyard View" to a "King Room with Club Access" (I have Explorist Hyatt status). The room was on the second floor, and was definitely large in size and overall in decent condition, though the decor felt a bit dated and the bed was very stiff. Luckily, I was so exhausted from traveling that I just ordered room service (food was great) and passed out quickly. I didn't get a chance take advantage of going to the Grand Club this visit since my transport to Pune was early in the morning. -- Second Stay (a week a half later): I got to Mumbai around 5 PM traveling from and had originally intended to check-in online but didn't see any upgrade available so I opted to check-in in person. I am glad I did that because the Hyatt receptionist went above and beyond, graciously upgrading my accommodation from standard "King Room" to a "King Room with Patio Access", and to my delight, added Club Access as well even though it wasn't included with that room upgraded room. While this room (located on the first floor) was just a little bit smaller than my first one, it was actually renovated so it had a much more modern feel (carpet, lights, thermostat, etc) and the bed in this room was definitely what was a luxury hotel bed feels like (slept amazingly)! The patio area was an open space with all the other rooms and seemed alright. Grand Club -- During my second stay, I was able to enjoy the Grand Club for happy hour so got some drinks and snacks. I will say that for such a large hotel with what seems like an infinite amount of space, I was surprised that the Grand Club was actually so small. Most of the food was shoved into one small center space and right behind it was the bar/glassware counter with drinks where all the servers were standing; there two small side tables (i almost didn't even notice these) - one with hot options and the other with bread/cheese. While the club at the Grand Hyatt Mumbai was definitely tinier than expected, especially when comparing it to the club at the Hyatt Regency in Pune (this hotel was considerably smaller in size) >>> the actual food, drinks, service, and seating area in this club at Grand Hyatt Mumbai were all top notch! Food -- Fifty Five East: Came here for breakfast (included with my rooms) both my stays and thought the food was solid (a lot of options as expected from a large international hotel). The condition of the restaurant was very nice and service was great as well. -- Soma: Came here for dinner during second stay and got the tandoori half-chicken (though it really wasn't "half", more like quarter or eighth of a chicken heh), buttered chicken curry, and garlic naan. The tandoori chicken was alright but the butter chicken curry and garlic naan were superb! Guest Services -- The guest services experience at Grand Hyatt Mumbai were definitely a positive stand out for me. From the bell hop and the receptionists during check-in and check-out, to the servers at Soma and at Grand Club, I thought all of the Hyatt employees were extremely hospital and genuinely engaged in ensuring my experience was nothing short of amazing. I will definitely stay here again next time in I am in Mumbai (and hope to check out the Spa/Gym and other restaurants)! Read less
