When we booked the Laguna we were not made aware of a large conference taking place at the hotel. They had some local dignitaries staying so they increased security. The security was the problem, the hotel let them impose bad attitude on guests. We were followed, photographed and watched for hours by government security services. At no point did the hotel tell us this would happen. The security guards were rude and were present in the hotel dining areas, military police, men in suits and highly over inflated young security guards who thought it would be ok to take photographs of my wife swimming. Naturally we complained, this is when we found out the true substance of the management in the hotel, who were very weak and do not understand customer service. They were incapable of dealing with our complaint, in particular a manager called Adi who was totally useless. He didn’t do anything of value to help despite showing him the problem first hand, sending him photos of security guards watching us from bushes and outside our balcony. In addition the conference staff were sprawled out in public areas, bored and glued to mobile phones taking up spaces used by holiday makers. This was not the experience we were expecting and it shon a bright light on the incompetence of the management team at the Laguna which was well below the expected levels of a so called reputable hotel chain. It was so bad we decided to cut our stay short and move hotels. We are gaining a refund for the days not stayed but only after intervention from our tour operator otherwise Marriott and local Laguna staff had refused. I have photos which will be published when back on home soil. My advice is make sure you check this hotel isn’t running a conference or hosting people from a nearby event because the management WILL put them first above paying guests. They WILL NOT listen to your concerns. . Be careful when booking, this is not a hotel solely for Holiday makers it is used for alternative means, conference guests will be given priority above tourists. I am sure the hotel will try and counter this, be advised this is a genuine account of poor service from this hotel. As a side note the wine is also terrible and extremely overpriced. GOOD LUCK! Great location, friendly staff, excellent restaurants, and top-notch service! We are currently staying at the resort in May 2024. They acknowledged our Silver Elite status by offering an upgraded room and breakfast at their restaurant, which serves an international buffet. Every morning, Ayu surprised us with wonderful and delicious special dishes, and we enjoyed reserving the cabanas. We are already making plans to come back here next April or May. Was absolutely blown away by this resort. The Lagoons are such a unique and fun design if you want something more than just a pool or beach environment. My wife and I had a swim up pool room and I loved just jumping off of my terrace into the water every morning for a quick pick me up. The room was well designed with the lighting and modern accommodations. Room service and house keeping were always timely and proficient. The breakfast buffet was amazing with so many different options of food and drink. My wife and I couldn't stop eating and drinking even though we were full. The other restaurants, spa, gym, bar, etc on the resort were all very fancy and wonderful as well. However, the one thing that stands out the most about this resort is the staff. They were by far the kindest and most diligent hotel staff we encountered on our honeymoon. They all knew our names and always greeted us with a smile whenever we stepped out of our room from the front desk to even the gardeners; all of them. Everyone went out of their way to make our experience more enjoyable by whatever means they could and that kind of attentiveness was something me and wife really appreciated. Would definitely recommend to anyone who wants a luxurious, relaxing stay in Bali. Read less

We have been to Bali 6 times in the past 10 years. Coming from North America it is a long journey however it is worth it. Initially we stayed in 2-3 different hotels for a few days each over a 2 week period. Several years ago we started to stay in Laguna... first for a few days, then a week and this time we spent the whole time in Laguna in Nusa Dua. Nusa Dua is a gated community which feels private compared to the hustle and bustle of the busy Bali traffic. The facilities with the restaurants, gym, spa, pools and beach are fantastic. Many resorts can compete with the similar facilities however the difference at Laguna are the people. The hospitality of the staff makes it like we have arrived at our vacation home. From the moment we arrived, we were enveloped in the warmth of Balinese hospitality, with familiar faces like Suka, Suardika, Agus, and Dewi from the restaurant and the pool greeting us like old friends. Our experience was elevated to new heights this year with introduction of Lucia, Verina, Nizel and Alex. Each and everyone of the hosts here reminds us of why we return. Everyone is so welcoming. The grounds are well maintained and in the morning as we go to the Banyubiru restaurant for the beautiful breakfast we are greeted with Selamat pagi (good morning) with the people who are preparing the pool area for the guests for the day. The beach area there are the local vendors which stop to chat even if you are not buying. The rooms were updated during the COVID period and are well decorated and maintained. Recently we were in Phuket staying in Marriot hotels and Laguna is the benchmark we compare with.. Stayed in two different hotels in Phuket and Laguna still lands on top. Laguna, Nusa Dua, Bali... we will see you again soon! Read less
