Apsara Beachfront Resort & Villa

Virgin rating

The hotel

You could be forgiven for thinking the Apsara is only for water babies, with its beachfront setting, infinity swimming pool, villa pool, two kids' pools, pool villa upgrades, water slide and of course, the obligatory Jacuzzi. But there’s more to the Apsara than sun, sea and sand. Set in unspoilt tropical greenery, along Pakarang Beach, this All Inclusive haven offers a range of drinks and things to do. There’s the Thai cookery classes, Thai boxing, spa treatments, bike rental and kayaking to name but a few!

We really enjoyed our stay at the resort on the Villa side. However a few things did disappoint, firstly there was no evening entertainment, secondly we were given 2 tickets to use in the Ala Carte Italian restaurant where drinks were included four of us had a small glass of wine with our meal & after desert asked for coffee we were told that coffee tea or hot chocolate was not included & had to be paid for, we found this strange as other tables were drinking copious amounts of wine & alcohol. Furthermore our friends were staying beachside all inclusive in the resort & after a walk along the beach sat with us at the Villa pool, we ordered them a drink & were told they were not allowed to drink with us. The restaurant on the Villa side offered good food Breakfast Lunch & dinner & the staff were very good, however we couldn't quite understand why the Ala Carte menu didn't change during our 14 night stay. We stayed at the Aspara as part of my husbands special birthday celebrations. We can truly say our experience at the resort was fabulous from beginning to end. The resort is not brand new but it is extremely well looked after. You frequently see staff each day, throughout the day cleaning, painting, gardening. Despite its beautiful location the beauty of the Aspara lies in its staff. Every member of staff we met was kind, extremely attentive and polite. So a part from the staff what makes the Aspara a great place to stay? The rooms. We had a swim up room which was spacious, clean, fabulous air conditioning and wonderful private access to the winding, cool, clean pool. It was perfect and very well used. I will add an important note here though. We learned very early on NOT to put toilet paper down the toilet. They block extremely easily. Instead put all toilet paper used in the bin provided. The food. I had read conflicting reviews about the variety of food provided. Personally we found the food choice to be varied, of high standard and the restaurant felt very Hygienic. We were there for 2 weeks and could easily eat different delicious, healthy food with each meal. There is no need to get bored. I am vegetarian but didn't have any problem if honest. Though I do eat fish. What I will say if you are struggling with protein ask staff to cook something up for you with tofu or egg. They did this frequently for me with no problem. Drinks. We found the quality of drinks provided for all inclusive guests to be varied and of good quality. Coffee and tea facilities are refreshed daily in your room. Sun beds and main pool. There were plenty of sun beds available though as per usual you do get people who insist on getting up at the crack of dawn and placing towels to stake their place, only not to return for some time later. I'd strongly suggest to Aspara management to stop this and remove all towels off beds when it's clear people aren't actually using them! The infinity pool is gorgeous and is lovely and clean. General atmosphere of the setting is very relaxed. If you like to be entertained each evening this setting is not for you. But if you like peace and quiet with gentle music with beautiful sunsets this place would be perfect. We arranged a private meal for my husbands special birthday and what the Aspara provided in terms of location, flowers and food completely blew our minds. You made a special day extra special and we thank you. At the end of the holiday I had a health issue due to the persistent high heat and humidity. Aspara staff contacted health providers and was sent to a local health facility in Khao lak. The care I received was helpful and extremely caring. All in all we had a truly fabulous holiday and made fantastic memories having adventures we never would normally have. I can confidently recommend a holiday to Aspara. Read less

This was the second time we have stayed at the Apsara villas and loved it just as much as the first visit. This is a lovely relaxing home from home hotel. The food is amazing and the staff friendly and welcoming. We stayed in one of the pool villas which I think is worth the extra money. (TIP: Upgrade to a villa with the Apsara rather than your travel agent for a better deal) With the villa upgrade you also get access to the Napoli resturant and if you upgrade to all inclusive you have unlimited access to the al la carte menu for lunch and dinner as well as being able to visit the buffet resturant. The buffet restaurant is for A/I gusts staying in the main hotel and although the lunch time selection is quite small, the food is of a good quality. There is more on offer at the buffet for dinner and there are different themes and again the food is good. The pool villas are spacious, comfortable and very private and have a separate living room with TV as well as having a TV in the bedroom, they also have a private pool which is so lovely. The villas do seem a little dated but they are well kept, clean and very comfortable. (TIP: Take a magnifying mirror if you use one at home as there isn’t one in the villa) Overall , for me, this hotel is a bench mark hotel when staying anywhere in Thailand, we always end up comparing staying in other hotels to the Apsara and we’ve not yet stayed anywhere else in Thailand that we’ve liked better than the Apsara, hence our repeat visit. I expect we will be back to visit the Apsara sometime next year and the sooner the better. We look forward to seeing all of the lovely Apsara staff as soon as possible. Keep up the great work guys ! What can I say about Apsara. It was simply perfect. I visited with my husband for a fortnight to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. We were made to feel welcome and looked after superbly by the hotel staff from the second our taxi door opened on arrival. This level of service didn’t stop the whole time we were there. We arrived in the morning before check in officially opened. We were offered a drink and breakfast straight away (much appreciated, we were a bit hungry after a long flight!). Then we were shown to our room. The rooms are large and airy, the beds are huge! There was a good mix of food and drink on offer. We were on all inclusive and sampled both the al a carte menu and the buffet. The staff in the restaurants and bars were exceptional. My husband and I are clearly creatures of habit - but this meant our drinks were often on the table before we could order! Full credit to Kathin for being so on it with the drinks. Other mentions should go to Ann, Oil and Nathan for looking after us brilliantly at meal times. Gift also cooked us some wonderful food on the food station - I especially loved the noodle soup for breakfast. It feels a little unfair to only mention the above staff by name because all of them were amazing, but those are the people we interacted the most with. On reception Emee and Mark were a delight to speak to and helped us with getting in to town and recommending the elephant sanctuary next door. Theywere also lovely to chat to throughout our stay, always asking how we were and genuinely interested in what we were up to and how we were doing! The resort itself is around 20 minutes from town so it is a bit isolated. This was a selling point for us! But saying that there are a few restaurants in the vicinity that you can walk to. Do make sure you head to Memories on the beach to watch the sunset! Talking of the beach - it’s quite possibly the best beach I’ve ever experienced! I can’t wait to return to Apsara, and we absolutely will be back. Read less
