The hotel has a superb location, and the check-in process at the club lounge was very smooth. The staff there were very nice and friendly. Special thanks to Chacha; she was exceptionally attentive and helpful, making our stay even more enjoyable.

The resort is in a secluded cove accessible only by boat, or by trekking across a hazardous wooden trail through the mountain. The hotel has its own beach which is lovely, and the sunsets are beautiful. However, being quite remote you don’t have easy access to town, which can be a positive or negative depending on what you’re looking for. The resort looks a bit tired and dated, with limited WiFi and old TV in the rooms with a handful of Thai channels, along with a few news channels. You cannot access any smart features as it’s not connected to internet. The hotel provide 4 bottles of complimentary water in your room each day (2 in fridge & 2 on countertop). On the first day we arrived we went to town and stocked up on some snacks and drinks. I noticed the next day the hotel only gave 2 bottles of water in our room, which I put down to a mistake. But when it happened again the day after I had to raise the issue with them. I assume the housekeeping didn’t put any water in the fridge as we had some of our own drinks in there, but I don’t understand why they didn’t leave it on the countertop where there was plenty of space. The cynic in me feels this is so they can sell you more water at their highly inflated prices, which are 3-4x the rates you’d pay in bars/restaurants in town. The other annoying thing is they have a notice on the water bottles in your room warning that the glass bottles are not to be taken down to the pool for “safety reasons”. However, they’re very happy to sell you drinks in glasses around the pool(!). Staff also seemed miserable and looked like they didn’t want to be there (with a handful of exceptions). When I’m paying this kind of money to stay at a luxury resort, I expect better. If you’re looking for the best resort in town, Centara Grand Beach Krabi is not it. I would try Amari next time. Sorry to mention it, stop using previous days food in your hotel It can jeopardize the health of guests The rooms could be bigger instead of outside sitting area with tons of furniture plus beach viewing area has no use when you are a beachfront resort

Staff member walked in the room while both my partner and I were fully naked no insident report was made and when raised to the manager we recieved an apology but no compensationmade for this. We were both left behind by the shuttle boat (us and 4 more guests) as they over booked and preferred to take check in clients instead so rude, entitled and no communication at all of what was happening or why were we being left behind, my partner got pushed away by staff members and we we td to return to the pier although we were already walking towards the boat, in compensation of this we had 1 courtesy ticket for PhiPhi Island and and 1 5am shuttle boat. The shuttle boat was at the same time in compensation to the missleading information about the resort having vompimentary boats and no advising it only coverded from 6am onwards, we already had to pay for our own boat to take us into the resort and now we were asked for $1500bht to pay for a boat on the way out. Spa was so dirty it was obvious it wasn't cleaned from the previous guests, we had to ask the cleaning crew to please wash it as it was so dirty. Last day we got given 1 broken and 1 shredded towels after doing housekeeping it felt as if we were staying at a hostel, dirty room. Birthday cake arrived 45minutes late. This sums up a terrible stay without even mentioning the disbelief of having had someone walking in our room while both of us were naked and this was not raised up or followed up by an incident report or a formal compensation. Both of have travelled so many countries around the world over many years and this, unfortunately has been our worse experience by far. Only about the being left behind by the boat incident the manager agreed on sorting our transport for the resort to the airport (boat shuttle and car transport) as well as 1 ticket for phiphi islands, however in the next day he backtracked and took away his offer by saying the resort would only cover the shuttle boat to the pier and the 1 ticket to phiphi Island but we had to cover our transport to the airport. The incident about the staff walking in the room while we were naked was not taken as a serious incident at all and all we received was a I'm sorry that happened, no further action or compensation was taken. Very disappointing. We stayed at one of the most expensive rooms available, sadly the only perks of the stay was the view. The resort alone would've been a pretty average experience. Read less

The Centara grand was the 3rd stop for us of our honeymoon through Thailand. To say this hotel was a disappointment, is an understatement. Our travel agent made it clear to us that it would be the least expensive of our trip, and the reviews on TripAdvisor made it clear that there were many flaws. We wish we had listened to these reviews and recommendations! If you are planning to stay here for your honeymoon, DON’T. If you are handicapped or have difficulty walking, DON’T. If you are looking for a relaxing vacation with attentive staff, DON’T! We took a speed boat taxi from the pier to the hotel, which is about 15 minutes. This is the only option for traveling from the hotel, besides for the Monkey trail. The staff did not greet us upon disembarkment from the taxi boat- we all followed one another into a HOT and unairconditioned room, where we were checked in. Our room was not ready for 2-3 hours from this time, but no staff communicated this to us. We had to find our luggage in the storage room, again with no help from staff. The idea of the hotel is cool, nestled in the jungle trees with monkeys nearby, but it is very inconvenient. As mentioned, the taxi boat is one option to get to Ao Nang beach/town, or the monkey trail. The monkey trail is not sturdy, and is steep and difficult to walk on. The hotel requires you reserve the taxi boat, which is difficult to make plans around and one night they didn’t have our reservation and gave us a difficult time. Our travel agent set up a surprise romantic dinner on the beach, that the staff failed to mention to us until after the dinner would have happened. They rescheduled the dinner for us the next night, the canopy was not set up at the time of the reservation, the staff member they set us up with did not speak English, and did not review the menu with us, which made the experience less than ideal. We went out of our way to find full day plans to not be at the pool that was swarmed with young kids. The hotel felt like an all inclusive resort based off of the clientele that was there- young families and young 20 something year olds on what seemed to be spring break. If we could go back in time, we would NOT have stayed at the Centara and probably would have skipped Krabi all together. Read less
