The setting for this award-winning Thai hideaway is just about as tropical screen-saver as you can ever imagine; with limestone cliffs and palm trees juxtaposed against white sand and the warm blues of the Andaman Sea. Thanks to the location, adjacent to Krabi Marine National Park, you'll find no end of excuses to stroll and soak up the scenery with beautiful gardens, coconut groves and faraway islands helping to pleasure all of your senses. A beautiful hotel set in lush jungle grounds nestled in between 3 beaches in Railay. The two storey room was immaculately clean, had everything you might expect to see and was well serviced during our stay. There is a wide variety of wildlife including large lizards and monkeys. It's easy to become lost in the jungle - it takes a couple of days to find your way around. Beach access to 3 beaches is good; one beach (East Railey) is very tidal and used for boat traffic, the other two (Railay West and Phra Nang) are amazing. The hotel pool is lovely and the staff are very attentive. There are fantastic views from the hotel restaurants and bars which are particularly lovely at sunset. Food and drink at the hotel are very expensive for Thailand, but is very good befitting a high class luxury hotel. There are many food options in the other parts of Railay outside the hotel which are substantially cheaper. However room service was really excellent and good value compared to many other hotels that substantially mark it up. Excursions. We went on two - an elephant sanctuary and a one day snorkelling / phi phi / Maya Beach / speedboat cruise with desert island lunch on Bamboo Island - both were excellent and memorable with attentive service with helpful hotel staff but are expensive compared to options available if you book outside. Note: There is no access by road at all, the hotel has its own pier in Krabi but this is not well signposted by the hotel and our 3rd party transfer driver got lost. We were told before we went that due to 'day 1' covid rules we had to book a private transfer from the mainland to the hotel - this 20 minute trip worked out at ten pounds a minute - vastly overpriced. We agreed to this before travel but felt it was a rip-off - almost as expensive as a half day tour to see the elephant sanctuary and not far short of the price of the excellent one day excursion to PhiPhi Island. Hopefully the hotel no longer has to do this as it left a sour taste in our mouth at the begining of our trip. Fortunately everything else was really good. The hotel does do regular transfers to Krabi dock on a timetable which are free. The Spa was amazing, we had a hot stone massage together just before we left and it was a wonderful experience. We were allocated a person to look after us. We have to say that the lady we were allocated did not seem to be particularly interested in us - however another lady called 'Smile' did a fantastic job - although of course she was wearing a mask so we could not see the smile for which she was named.
