Well, I was not expecting that. Hands down one of the best (if not THE best) hotels I’ve stayed in. We stayed in the pool suit and it was absolutely stunning. Well, I was not expecting that. Hands down one of the best (if not THE best) hotels I’ve stayed in. We stayed in the pool suit and it was absolutely stunning. It was cleaned every day and if you needed anything at all, it would be there in 5 minutes max. The beds are the most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept on! The service provided by every single member of staff we crossed paths with was outstanding every time. The food in each one of the restaurants was lovely and I would particularly recommend Black Ginger for the experience. We visited in rainy season and one of the days it just poured with rain the whole day. We spoke to reception and they opened the sports bar for us so that we could play pool even though it wasn’t due to open until that evening. The shop staff were great too and the fact that you can purchase absolutely anything you see around the hotel was such a special touch! The pools were all very lovely as well but I was particularly pleased with the 2x adult only pools! Absolutely perfect! The location was great with direct access to the beach and only 7 mins from the airport. In short, I cannot fault this hotel at all. I loved staying there and I have the serious holidays blues now I’m home! I will 100% return to The Slate! Read less

The staff at the resort made the experience even more exceptional with their absolutely outstanding service and friendliness. All the restaurants and bars we visited during our stay provided excellent service with fantastic dining, from the traditional Thai food at the Michelin-stared Black Ginger to the daily breakfast buffets served at the Tin Mine. We cannot wait to return and highly recommend The Slate to anyone looking for a phenomenal experience in Phuket! Read less

The Slate provided the best vacation I had in more than 2 years. The hotel deco was amazing, knowing that most of the materials were from an old rail somewhere in Thailand. All the exceptional reviews of this hotel is true, but what is it that sets this place apart from other high end hotels? Firstly, I almost forget that I'm at a hotel, but rather it's like staying in a little oasis or utopia with it's own ecosystem and beautiful staff in otherwise sleepy, unremarkable Nai Yang. The fact that Nai Yang is 'unremarkable' suits me fine; away from the ugly over commericalisation of other parts of Phuket, like Patong. Staying at The Slate is the epitome of the Thai saying "Sabai, Sabai" - that 'everything is chill'. This is the 3rd time I have stayed here over the last 14 years. What caught my eye initially was the hotel design when I first stayed in 2008, thanks to hotel architect/interior designer, Bill Bensley. The Slate is themed upon Phuket's history in Tin mining and the design elements extend right down to the cutlery, light fittings and various art pieces around the hotel grounds. On this occasion, I stayed here for 2 weeks with my partner and his brother and wife. We had 2 x Pearl Suites next to each other and struck a deal with a complementary meal at Black Ginger. It was our first overseas trip in over 2 years in lieu of COVID-19 and what we wanted was some chill time without being surrounded by big crowds of people. The great thing about The Slate is that the hotel grounds are large enough, so that it never feels overcrowded with separate pools for families with children and adult only pools. There are a number of restaurant options, but we chose to experience Thai street food outside on the beach or at the local markets. Highlights - Hotel breakfast buffet is exceptional (and hard not to over-eat!) and Happy Hour at Black Ginger is magical. A fews things I had not appreciated on previous trips (and I'm a fan of nature) was the wildlife that exists at The Slate (best observed as you hang over the infinity edge of the Pulley Pool + Bar) ranging from the various coloured dragonflies, birdlife, to the busy carpenter bees going about their business. Also keep an eye out for the large monitor lizards wading through the lily pads or sleeping in a tree at Black Ginger). The staff really make this place special; everyone smiles, nothing is ever too difficult. There are some memorable mentions; Apple for helping us organise our bikes early in the morning so we could go give alms to the local monks. Aui and all the breakfast staff for your smiles and being so personable (we love you Choong for brightening our every day at breakfast!). Boan and Ball for being ever present at the gym and activity centre (thanks for the archery lessons). Thon (? unsure about spelling) from the engineering department for troubleshooting our hot water issues! Jane and the pool-staff at the Pulley Bar for fixing up great cocktails... and all the staff at Black Ginger ("P" you made great cocktails), you were all wonderful and provide exceptional service. I could keep going on, but as Apple summarises on our last day "we [perceive] our guests as family" and it certainly feels like that. Last few tips; 1. check out all the toilets in the hotel; the ones at Black Ginger are super luxe and worthy of a photo moment! 2. get your laundry done just outside of hotel grounds - small booth just next to Mojos restaurant (so cheap, and they do such a good job!) Can't wait to come back to rooms 3247 and 3248! Read less
