Key Largo, Florida Keys

The hotel

The first island you’ll hit as you drive through the keys is Key Largo, most famous for it’s watersports with reef snorkelling, diving, and glass bottom boat tours out of John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park as must-do activities. Neighbouring the state park you’ll find Playa Largo set on 14.5 acres of secluded shoreline, providing your own piece of paradise to stay whilst exploring this part of Florida’s famous archipalageo. The private beach is the only thing between you and the sparkling waters of Florida Bay, where you can enjoy a range of watersports right from the hotel as well as venturing out to nearby attractions (of which there are plenty). There is a laid-back feel to the resort, perfectly in keeping with the area, but that doesn’t stop the facilities and service being up to standard. From a beach shack restaurant to a ceviche bar, all tastebuds are catered for, La Marea is a particularly great choice for locally sourced seafood and freshly handmade artisan breads and pizzas. When you’re seeking serenity after all the activity, book in at Ocean Spa where you can try specially formulated scrubs using coffee grounds, sugar, and salt. The top class service doesn’t end when you get to your room, an iPad is on hand to offer on-demand services to ensure your stay is up to scratch.

Our family experience at Playa Largo was "as good as it gets "! The property is absolutely beautiful and has one of the best bay swimming set ups in the Keys! Sandy bottom, clear colorful water, fishing pier with comp tackle/rods/bait and decent snorkeling. The rooms we were given were fantastic, especially # 2114 (a lovely suite beach front). Also the "Bungalow" on our return night stay (decided to stay again instead of Miami) was a real treat. The breakfast buffet was delicious and plentiful. You don't need to leave this resort! The staff is what truly made the difference though. Special shout outs to; GM - Pedro Sierra - true gentleman that went out of his way to accommodate us Room Mgr. - Courtney - thanks for the special care Dir. Front desk - Emmanuel Marte - Totally a riot and totally helpful And of course Desi at the front desk. This young man bent over backwards to make sure that my family was totally taken care of. special thanks also to Susie and the valet gents! Take the time out to contact any of these folks preceding or certainly during your visit for the best in customer care! Well done Pedro! Read less

I went to the spa recently and was given an amazing message by an employee named Roque. I have a neck problem and after this massage I feel so much better. Apart from the employees the customer service is great and it’s super clean. Thank you so much. Will definitely be returning!!

We drove south to explore the Keys and enjoyed this mini trip so much. Read less

I continue to give unbiased reviews about my experiences at hotels and restaurants. Here is one. Stayed at the resort with family for 2 nights and our experience was awesome. Here I’m only commenting based on the value I get for the time I spend. First off all, the staff is friendly and very helpful. Rooms and resort are very clean and modern. Pool is well maintained. But the icing on the cake is the location and the beach. It’s clean and beautiful. Me and my son enjoyed wading in the knee deep clear water among the variety of fish, crab. We watched the sun set every night. If u love to watch fish in their natural habitat this is one of the places. Well maintained Restaurants could have few more options in the menu but you can always go out and try new restaurants. Thanks to Emmanuel and his team for giving us this amazing experience!! Will definitely return!! Read less
