The hotel

Split between Harbourside and Beachside, there are 200 private, tropical acres to explore at the new golden era of the historic Boca Raton resort. Having undergone a massive transformation, this beautifully exclusive hotel is great for adding on to a Miami or Orlando trip, for that beachside relaxation and indulgence. One iconic resort, made up of 5 distinct hotels, the Baca Raton offers a variety of accommodations from beachfront suites to bungalows hidden away in the gardens. From poolside relaxation to thrilling waterfront adventure, there are a host of activities on offer, not least the ‘extraordinaty experiences’ such as private boat trips, sunset dining, or for golf enthusiasts, ‘The Course Is Yours’, which closes off the 18-hole championship course for you to enjoy exclusively, complete with branded apparel and sunset drinks to round off the day. Whilst there is a VIP feel to the resort, it’s great for any ages. The Banyan bunch kids club offers a fantastic activity schedule for the little ones, whilst the splash pad and 5-story water slides offer perfect respite for them on a hot day in the Sunshine state. Whilst they’re entertained, be sure to book in for a treatment at Spa Palerma, a 50,000sq ft secluded oasis offering indulgent experiences such as the Diamond Facial and Gemstone Body Ritual. However you choose to spend your day here, there are plenty of options when it comes to staying fed and hydrated, with 10 restaurants, bars ,and cafes serving up everything from grab and go items to fine dining formality. For a taste of the Mediterranean at Beach Club, Marisol and the lounge were recently unveiled, curated by lifestyle guru Colin Cowie.

The property was amazing. The service was impeccable. The staff were very attentive and helpful. The food and drinks at the Palm Court were the best I've ever had. Poolside was awesome as well and the drink offering was plentiful.

I am currently staying at the beach club now with my family and if you going to come to the boca stay harbor side at the towers or yacht club. Way better customer service and they go above and beyond to make sure your stay is perfect. Unfortunately we booked over at the beach club side and even after we upgraded our rooms internally they still wouldn’t honor the $200 nightly resort credit they advertise. Only other negative I can say about the entire property was the kid cabanas were very outdated and didn’t have any of the toys or features they had on the website. Again nothing but great things to say about the Boca every other time we stayed here. Just little things that aren’t supposed to happen at places like this for our current stay. Read less

Staying at the Yacht club with a personal butler on call was so convenient and wonderful. Every employee we encountered gave us a moment of luxury and ease. It felt special to be staying here. Also, shout out to Ramón who was serving us amazing drinks at The Flamingo Grill our last night. His attention to detail and joyous personality was so appreciated! He was even able to make a drink that wasn’t on the menu and that is often times not heard of from any other bartenders. I can’t wait to find an excuse to stay at The Boca Ratón again! Last time I visited this resort was 10 years ago and things have changed quite a bit. They are still renovating but what I saw was mostly excellent. The resort is 35 minutes drive from Fort Lauderdale airport. I stayed in the Tower in a 2 bedroom suite which was really more like two adjoining rooms with a front entrance that never seemed to lock as it should despite several calls to engineering. It wasn't particularly luxurious and I think it's overpriced but it was two nice rooms with great views (rooms 1207 and 1208 and it's 1/6 of a floor, so the tower itself is just not that large to work with). There are lots of elevators and the building is close to the gym and pools. In our room the bathroom was very well lit and the shaver mirror was perfectly placed. The sink water pressure was fair and the shower was very good. Air conditioning was OK but not too cool even with the thermostat set at 65 degrees. I avoided the cloisters because we figured the rooms would be smaller and darker and have mostly ground-level views. The Tower serves complimentary pastries and coffee at breakfast time. You probably want to eat at one of the outlets if you want real food. Sadelle's is excellent but I strongly recommend booking pre-arrival if you are there on a weekend. Sadelle's also has a takeout section but it's real slow. On the weekend it took over 30 minutes to walk out with a sandwich and a fruit cup. On a Monday morning it still took over 15 minutes. They only have one person making sandwiches. One morning we ate breakfast at La Principessa; it had some interesting items on its menu. We were generally impressed with the decor of the dining outlets; they are done really nicely and this is not normally a feature I mention in my reviews. We had dinners at the Flamingo Grill, the Supper Club and La Principessa, all of which were very good. The Supper Club on Saturday nights has a cabaret singer with a jazz trio which we enjoyed. The Palm Court is the lobby bar and it has a lively vibe and it's a beautiful room. At the pools, the lazy river has a good current; the adult pool is chill with nice cabanas around it. We rented one for a day and enjoyed the experience. Some snacks with the cabana would have been appreciated. Lunch at the pool was good though it took 2 margherita pizzas costing close to $60 to feed my son and they both skimped on the cheese. There is a flow rider but you have to sign up for a lesson to get on it. The water slides were both good though I was a bit surprised that the pool you wind up in is a bit shallow after such a slide. The spa was good; my wife and I both enjoyed our treatments. The jacuzzi room looks like a temple dedicated to the Alhambra Palace. I was disappointed that the swimming pool at the spa was not heated. The gym is adequate with an odd assortment of equipment in the weight room, but it really needs to be twice the size. If you show up in the morning rush you probably won't get a treadmill and the weight room will be crowded. Staff at the gym agreed that my impression was correct and said the resort is talking about expanding it. You can get a bicycle but there is not much you can do with a bike here. I rode over to the bungalows which did not impress me; it was basically a building on a street lined with condos about 1/3 mile away. The NY Times is available at the Tower lobby desk but I couldn't get a Wall Street Journal on property. One day someone on staff got us a copy somewhere. Uber works well here with a designated pickup area. There is a Publix supermarket half a mile away. The clothing shops on property had really nice upscale selections. Overall, the property spreads guests out pretty well among various places they can be. There are small snacking outlets on the property selling gelato pops, macarons and chocolates, ice cream and smoothies. Valet parking worked well although we asked twice for our electric car to be charged and it wasn't. Third time it was and that was good because it's nerve-racking to rent a car on vacation and be given an electric car and have to worry where it will get recharged. We didn't see the beach club; we simply ran out of time during our 4 day visit. We didn't mind that we weren't on the ocean; it's a nice resort. A highlight was a private dinner arranged for us to celebrate our 20th anniversary. It was not easy to arrange; the hotel offered me venues for very high fees that did not make sense. I let it be known that I've had better treatment elsewhere and that got someone in their special events department to make me a better offer and we were very happy with the resulting dinner which was on the grassy area in front of the La Principessa restaurant with a great family-style dinner for two. Vanessa at Special Events and Jason, a server at La Principessa, did a good job looking after us. So basically, we were happy campers here. We were paying top dollar for a top suite and that helped us get things we wanted such as breakfast at Sadelle's on a holiday weekend when we arrived without a reservation. Another guest who talked to a manager heard that the hotel is trying to get 5 stars from Forbes. The resort's attention is focused on what Forbes wants to see out of that place. That's not necessarily what matters to guests. What would give this place an excellent rating for me and make me want to come back are 3 things that may not matter to Forbes: 1. there should be the ability to go to a breakfast buffet. People don't always want to sit for an hour getting served or spend over 30 minutes waiting for takeout. I'm told Forbes won't give 5 stars to a hotel that offers buffets, but this place needs that option for its guests and many 5-star hotels offer them. 2. An adult swimming pool at the spa and at the regular pool area should be heated. Good resorts have heated pools. Even in 80 degree weather I found the pool somewhat cold even after swimming several laps. 3. The gym needs to be enlarged. It's adequate but not befitting a resort of this size. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens at this resort. It's not part of a chain and we root for those independent properties! Read less
