Hilton Daytona Beach Oceanfront Resort

Daytona Beach, Gold Coast Beaches

Virgin rating

The hotel

The only thing between this hotel and Daytona Beach is its fabulous shore-side pool deck. Looking out over the ocean, it stretches down to a handful of steps that lead you directly onto Florida’s most famous sands. It’s a view that’s also captured while you’re dining on seafood specialities at Doc Bale’s Grill, tucking into street food inspired dishes at The Blind Turtle, and enjoying at tipple or two at McCoys Rum Room and Waves Beach Bar. But it’s not all sun, sea, and sand at Hilton Daytona Beach Oceanfront Resort — you'll also love the gym, spa, and prime location among the shops and entertainment of Ocean Walk Village.

Don't stay here, please! It's a fraud! Allow me to share my experience with you. First off, front reception people are RUDE! They kept hanging up on me several times while I was trying to make my reservation and they never once said thank you, you're welcome, hello, etc. (first red flag I guess). They have no courtesy whatsoever! Or maybe that's just a FL people thing, being rude I mean. Initially I made my reservation online through Expedia. I didn't see anywhere that there would be daily resort fees, daily parking fees, daily state taxes, or daily county taxes. I spent spring break here. I was not warned about this anywhere on my reservation. Furthermore, there is—I repeat—NO PARKING!!! Self-parking is available for $30 per day. The self parking is where the Employee parking is which is located at the Ocean Walk Parking Garage, which is behind the BBQ area. Parking requires walking and is not close. They also offer valet parking For $40 a day. Again, there is no mention of NO PARKING anywhere on the internet, so I was obligated to pay for daily parking. When I checked out, the man at front desk asked if I would prefer an email or a receipt for my bill. I made the mistake of choosing email. It had been several days since I received neither my deposit nor the invoice, so I had to give them a call multiple times in an attempt to connect with someone and get my invoice emailed to me to see if maybe I was charged the for the whole deposit ($300.00) After multiple attempts, I finally received my invoice, which is attached. As you can see, I was charged twice a day for parking. I have left voicemails and tried multiple times to get in touch with accounting, but I have not received a response. Customer service is lacking at this hotel and there is no email listed to try and reach the GM. The rooms are quite old, and the housekeeper left our room dirty and skipped it twice (but sure got charged for it). Even my teenager commented, "Wow, this housekeeper is so lazy. I hope you don't tip her." All tough their promotion states balcony beach view, there isn't a balcony; instead, there is a minuscule balcony with sliding doors. Lastly, to top it all, my teenager witnessed a complete nude woman walking at mid day. Yes, a sixty- to seventy- year old naked women walking on the street. Yes, complete NUDE. This was a 60-70 year-old who was only wearing a bandana around her neck. (I have pictures but cant post) I swear I will never ever stay at Daytona Beach again! So, DON'T stay here! Worst experience in FL, ever!!! Read less

The rooms are old and dated, we went from three elevators to one elevator on our first night, and they still are not fixed on day 3 which are checking out. The toilets don’t flush, the shower is a drizzle, and the only good of this room is, if you have oceanfront to listen to the waves when you sleep. Until they update, I would pick another place! I wanted to like this hotel so much but too many things happened that made me sure I will never be back. There is a lack of a welcoming energy by some of the front desk agents. We drove all the way from the east coast to spend a week, it would have been nice to be greeted with a warm conversation and smile. The parking situation is absurdly expensive. $40 a day for valet! Having a discount for guests staying for multiple days would have been courteous. Also their valet’s system is so disorganized. We would call ahead to ask for our car and when we would get downstairs no one knew we called for our car so nobody brought it up. The elevators were not clean, almost everyday they were smelly! The outdoor bar was barely open & there wasn’t even effort by the hotel to make the hotel feel like you’re on vacation. Half the time unless we went to the front desk there was no staff member around. At the same time, the rum room was nice and the bartender Peter was great. The room was the most disappointing part! None of the rooms come with microwaves and when we requested one we were told they would bring one but we never received it. You would think since the rooms don’t have microwaves, they would have like 4 in the lobby that the guests could use. Well to my disappointment they only had ONE! So ofcourse everyone in the hotel who needed a microwave was crowded around it when we tried to warm our food. The beds are tiny and very low quality, my bed at home was so much better! The bathroom had no air vents! The furniture is all old and run down. The fridge in the room doesn’t even stay cold, all of our frozen unopened ice cream melted when we placed it in it. All the vending machines are not working so good luck getting even some water if you don’t bring your own. When we woke up at midnight very thirsty & realized the vending machines were broken and we asked the front desk if we could buy water they refused to give more than two bottles to my husband! I had to call and express my frustration to finally get offered more than 2 bottles. Apparently they have a rule that if you are not a “Hilton honors” member you do not get water and her giving me two bottles was making exception to their rule since we were not Hilton honors members. Unbelievable!! In conclusion, you're better off staying at an airbnb! The only thing saving this hotel is the ocean views, the rum room & the steakhouse. If you’re looking for a relaxing vacation I would advise you to look elsewhere. Read less

I’ve been to this hotel multiple times for a conference each year. The staff has been great year after year. Isabel has been our bartender multiple years in a row for events and is always so pleasant. She is always friendly and helpful. We love her!

I had a great experience with two particular staff at Don Rico's - Monique and Davis. There was a very nasty customer in Monique's section and she and Davis were both being screamed at. The restaurant is part of the hotel and I would absolutely recommend patronizing it if you stay. The food is really good and fairly priced. Read less
