Jenn G. was the picture of hospitality (along with other reception staff), the valet service was speedy, bartenders knew how to pour, and housekeeping was outstanding. Of course the beach being right there and a pool soaked with the morning sun added to the experience. When my travels take me back to South Florida Hotel Maren will be my choice. Thanks for the hospitality! Read less

When we checked in Friday, it was typical construction noise w/ noisy trucks backing up, hammering, etc. I was very up set and wanted to change rooms to one less noisy. Javier, at the desk, said the hotel was full and would look into changing my room the next morning. When we woke Saturday am, the construction was stopped for the weekend and we decided to stay in the room as it was too much hassle to move. Ryan, the manager was quite apologetic and even sent us a bottle of champagne which was quite nice. The hotel was beautiful with full amenities and directly across from the beach where they had chairs, umbrellas, towels, etc. I think in the future, they should warn guests that their “ocean view” rooms were 25% ocean view and 75% construction which involves quite a bit of noise. I certainly would not have spent that much for a room if I knew what the majority of my view and noise quality involved. I would certainly stay here again but be very wary of what “ocean view” meant. The staff tried to rectify but having the hotel at 93% occupancy (which Javier quoted me when I asked for a different room) made the fulfillment of the request impossible. The bed was incredibly comfy, the ac worked well, and it was nice to receive drink vouchers daily along with daily new water bottles. The bar in the lobby seemed nice but we only stopped for a glass of wine to take to our room. I can’t comment on the food but the hotel was exceptionally clean and staff was customer-oriented. Nice location across busy roadway to the beach. No fault of the hotel but the homeless and lost souls that wander in the area, and sometimes into the lobby- could be cause for concern for young women or families. Nice location across busy roadway to the beach. No fault of the hotel but the homeless and lost souls that wander in the area, and sometimes into the lobby- could be cause for concern for young women or families. Restaurant staff was very nice but service was slow (real slow) and food was ridiculously overpriced. Valet parking at $48 a night and a $43 resort fee almost has you at $100 bucks before paying for the room. Hilton needs to buy the property next door and knock down that outdated complex so that you can at least have sunshine at the pool area in the afternoon (building actually cuts out sun from pool deck the entire afternoon. Pool was COLD- could not believe it was not heated especially after some cool nights and considering it does not get any solar warming once building next door blocks the sun. Rooms were very nice and housekeeping staff did a great job. Front desk staff also very helpful. As goes Fort Lauderdale- so to will the Hotel Maren, so let's hope the city cleans up and stays tough on crime. Read less
