Pelican Grand Beach Resort

Fort Lauderdale, Gold Coast Beaches

The hotel

One of the few hotels in Fort Lauderdale with direct beach access, the Pelican Grand’s location is as its name suggests! Perfectly capturing that old-style Floridian grandeur, it’s a wonderful place to relax, making the most of the white sands on your doorstep and the surrounding area. As well as complimentary chairs and umbrellas down at the beach, where you can while away sunny afternoons with a good book, there’s a zero-entry swimming pool, ideal for youngsters as well as adults. Both will also love the lazy river and an oceanfront fitness centre may inspire the health conscious amongst you to lift a few weights! If you’re feeling hungry, head to Ocean 2000, an American-style bistro serving seafood and steaks against a magnificent ocean backdrop. The restaurant features the only Sunday Oceanfront Brunch on Fort Lauderdale Beach so be sure to book early as its very popular indeed. Make the most of the fine weather and dine al-fresco on the veranda, also the perfect place to tuck into an ice-cream treat from the Emporium! For drinks and snacks, the lounge is ideal, sipping tropical cocktails whilst admiring the views.

We had a lovely Seaside Suite with wonderful ocean views. The room was very inviting and comfortable. However, there were so many minor irritations which added up that we left with a less than satisfied feeling for the money we paid. For example, the bathroom door (which is a barn style door) would not stay closed. Why ? We needed Maintenance to come to fix a problem in the bathroom, however we waited almost 3 hours. Why ? We tried to call the Front Desk and also the Operator from the room phone, but nobody ever picked up for the first two days. Why ? We asked for breakfast menu cards for in-room breakfast, but there were none available. Why ? When we arrived with luggage, there was nobody available to help us until the Concierge of all people noticed us struggling. Where were the front desk staff or bellmen? We could go on with several other examples. The hotel restaurant Ocean 2000 has a nice if limited menu, and dining on the veranda is very pleasant and worth a visit. We enjoyed the room very much and the location, but we hope that Management will work on customer service with some of the staff. Read less

My family spent 5 days here over the Christmas holiday. The hotel is beautiful and the service was wonderful. By far, the best service was provided by Brian Brown at the pool. Brian was fabulous. There are other standout employees at the Pelican (Analisa at the resturant), but Brian was the star. We definitely will return. Read less

Great hotel just off of the main tourist area. Ground transportation was very easy to find if you wished to travel. Loved the beach area. Pool was a little small but not an issue with the beach out front.

We were at Pelican Grand for several nights in early Jan 2020. We really enjoyed our stay! Comfortable rooms, very pretty veranda, great staff, fun beach, warm pool and good lazy river. We were at Pelican Grand for several nights in early Jan 2020. We really enjoyed our stay! Comfortable rooms, very pretty veranda, great staff, fun beach, warm pool and good lazy river. We were there with our 5-year-old and he was a big fan of all the above. The lazy river isn't big, but it is big enough. We had a blast. The heated pool was great. Even in January we spent a lot of time in the water. The location is good. You have a lot of walking to get to other attractions (example: ~20 minutes to get to the water taxi) but the hotel is easy to get to via Lyft/Uber and we didn't mind the walks. Why only 4 stars? We loved the hotel, but there were two minor issues. 1) The veranda restaurant is expensive and very slow. We loved eating there for the food and the view, but we often had long waits to get service. One breakfast we ended up leaving the table and going next door because no one checked on us. Staff was super friendly but appeared to be overloaded. 2) Many hotels have succumbed to the trend of installing barn doors on the bathroom. This means all the smells and sounds of the bathroom are shared with everyone else in the hotel room. Our door also came off the tracks at 2am and my wife and I had to put it back on. I'm sure in a few years we'll all look back and shake our heads and say "remember when people thought barn doors on bathrooms was a good idea?" For all hotels: put regular (non-pocket, non-barn) doors on bathrooms. Read less

He stored our luggage and brought us over to a table for lunch. Our waiter then introduced himself professionally and served everything well in a quick timely manner. After our lovely dining experience, Richie passed us off over to, Brian. This man WORKS! His attentiveness was absolutely superb. This review goes for every other staff member we came across. Everyone was phenomenal and made us feel like VIP guests! Cheers to all of you and may your winter season treat you well. Read less
