Riverside Hotel

Fort Lauderdale, Gold Coast Beaches

Virgin rating

The hotel

Full of Old Florida charm, the Spanish tile floors and and overhead fans means that this classic hotel fits in well within the Cuban feel of Las Olas Boulevard. The road is the forefront of everything from restaurants to fashion boutiques, art galleries to bars - so it's a great alternative to the oceanfront hotels of Fort Lauderdale, and the beach is still only a 10 minute drive away! There's a wide variety of dining options available within the hotel too - with Wild Sea featuring an impressive raw bar and a creative seafood menu, all of which can be enjoyed whilst watching the yachts sail down the river. The Golden Lyon Pub and Preston's Wine and Martini Lounge both offer happy hours for a pre-dinner tipple too. If you're not planning to spend much time in your room, the Micro room offers value for money, but upgrading will give you more space to relax in for families.

This wasn't sign posted very well and thought it was odd and confusing that you had to enter the restaurant to then enter the pool. Read less

I arrived at this hotel late at night and I was met by Michael the night auditor , he was very polite and gave me my room. The room was next to the lift so from 05:00 in the morning I would hear the noise of the lift going up and down which I did not like as it broke my sleep, so in the morning I went to the reception and complained , they did change my room, but I was shocked by the comment I received from one of receptionists on duty , she turned round and said what do you expect if you picked one of the cheapest rooms in the hotel. I kept my cool and said nothing , but I thought it was one of the most unprofessional comments I have ever heard from a hotel , from MGM a fantastic hotel to Hilton that I’m a member of their awards programme and I’m an ex employee of Hilton International, this was the most unprofessional outburst, comment I have ever heard. And I worked on the front desk of a top Hilton Hotel for a number of years. So they changed my room to a nice larger room , and I thought what a nice room, it had a nice view , all was good until I went to sleep , suddenly at 02:30 in the morning I am woken up by the guests next door, making so much noice , my room had a connecting door to the next room, it felt like the guests next door were sleeping in my room. I do not blame the guests next door , I blame the hotel for not sound proofing the room. It was unbelievably bad. Ok this is an older hotel , but there is no excuse , how can they sale these rooms. Such a nice sophisticated area, but I felt the staff were complacent., obviously not everyone , but there was this tone. Breakfast was mediocre , nothing to write home about , overall a disappointing stay, which could have been avoided if staff and management actually cared. I felt I was just another customer. Like a train station, people coming and going , no real positive interaction Read less

Enjoyed our stay. Staff was accommodating and nice. Hotel is conveniently located in the Las Olas area. The area is safe. There are lots of places to eat and it is near to the airport. It is so nice to watch the yachts and boats pass by. I love Las Olas!

The location of this hotel is what gives it three stars. Lined up with all the shops on Los Olas. The rooms are old and dated. Coffee and fridge in room. Bathroom has shower curtain. Not a fan of that. The room is clean. The beds are comfortable…and quiet.
