The hotel

Florida's first AAA Five Diamond hotel – need we say any more?! The Ritz-Carlton in Fort Lauderdale is glamorous yet unpretentious with it’s nautical design, comfy seating areas and relaxed ambience. Only the highway separates the hotel from the beachfront, but with a pedestrian bridge you’ll have your toes in the sand in minutes. Alternatively, plot up in a poolside cabana on the elevated deck looking over the Atlantic with it’s dedicated bar and food service at hand to meet your needs. With an expansive fitness centre overlooking the Intracoastal waterway and a spa that offers it’s own happy hour you can ensure your mind and body are well looked after. When it’s time to explore further afield, mainland Los Olas Boulevard is the place to go, just a short water taxi ride away, for which you’ll receive daily complimentary tickets from the hotel.

I stayed at this hotel for a night. The location is good and the room and pool are very nice. However, I found the water from the bath tap very dirty, as shown from the attached photo, yellow and green, really disgusting. I ran the tap for more than 10 minutes but it still looked the same. I called the front desk and the lady just told me that it's normal. She said they had the qualification record for the water to be used, and the shower water was the same. She also said that all water in the area was like this, which I highly doubted. In addition, as an Elite member of Marriott, I requested a late check at 2pm via the Marriott App and was approved immediately. However, when I confirmed it with front desk on the checkout day, the same lady told me that I could no stay at the hotel until 2pm - I had to leave by 1pm even if they promised me earlier. The whole experience at this hotel was disappointing. Whoever plans to stay at this hotel, please take a look at their bath water first. Read less

Ruben went out of his way and made us feel special. He made a swan out of towels, brought us water, ice, and suntan lotion. WOW! We felt like we were celebrity. Gloria at the front fest was exceptional too! She took the time to help us too. Great!!

I don't know if it's all Ritz hotels or just this one, but I can tell Marriot now owns it because the amenities and level of customer service felt like a time share after you've declined the pitch. I don't know if it's all Ritz hotels or just this one, but I can tell Marriot now owns it because the amenities and level of customer service felt like a time share after you've declined the pitch. Small pool area with loud, awful music; only one restaurant with a limited menu; spa pushes add ons to your mediocre, over-priced massage like a used car dealership and rushes you out of the room when it is over; rooms lack basic amenities all 5 star hotels have like refrigerators and lighted magnified makeup mirrors; skeleton staff that spends a lot of time looking busy but not actually helping customers. And the beach! Gross, even for Florida. I paid $200 for a cabana on the beach that did not have food or drink service. Smokers, loud music, open containers - all illegal, even in Florida - but no one policing it. No Ritz employees doing anything to make the experience pleasant. Mini bar in room had items that were not on QR menu and were dusty, stale, expensive and disgusting. And of course, there is no General Manager or Customer Service department at this Ritz. In fact, I couldn't find any customer service or complaint procedures anywhere online at all. And I'm sure no one will respond to this message or contact me. Read less

Buyer beware! Ritz Carlton has usually known for service, and this experience was less than pleasurable. We had reservations at the Marriott and switched our reservation 2 weeks prior due to an incredible summer package. We originally had a suite at the Marriott. The package at the Ritz was to entice locals to stay. It was buy one room full price and receive the 2nd room half off! THE ONLY REASON WE MOVED! My husband is a lifetime Platinum member. We called Marriott directly to book the reservation. The representative told me that we would see the discount reflected at check in. We only had a second room for my mom. I should have left immediately. At check in the price wasn’t reflected! They said they had an onsite reservation specialist that would be happy to assist us. NO ONE ever took care of it. Our room wasn’t ready until after 4… We stayed for 3 nights- at check out the price still wasn’t fixed. The specialist at the desk said a manager would be in touch! We had the run around with Miguel and the customer service department at Marriott! Completely unacceptable! We had the photos of the down the shore package we reserved… after three weeks we were finally told we receive some of our money! Nothing!! My husband and I both travel for work and host meetings and have always choose Marriott. I’ll think twice! This property doesn’t deserve the Ritz name! Read less
