The Ritz-Carlton, Fort Lauderdale

Fort Lauderdale, Gold Coast Beaches

The hotel

Florida's first AAA Five Diamond hotel – need we say any more?! The Ritz-Carlton in Fort Lauderdale is glamorous yet unpretentious with it’s nautical design, comfy seating areas and relaxed ambience. Only the highway separates the hotel from the beachfront, but with a pedestrian bridge you’ll have your toes in the sand in minutes. Alternatively, plot up in a poolside cabana on the elevated deck looking over the Atlantic with it’s dedicated bar and food service at hand to meet your needs. With an expansive fitness centre overlooking the Intracoastal waterway and a spa that offers it’s own happy hour you can ensure your mind and body are well looked after. When it’s time to explore further afield, mainland Los Olas Boulevard is the place to go, just a short water taxi ride away, for which you’ll receive daily complimentary tickets from the hotel.

Ruben was amazing! Made the time with my family comfortable and worth coming back to the beach. His partner down near the Drunken taco is not aware of his position. I'd say make sure anybody working for a company knows all the things that they can and can't do.

They fixed it. Shower could use a remodel. Patio chairs on deck were ancient. Beach was nice, but chairs you pay for were also tired and saggy. Exterior pool deck Tile was beat up. Nice fitness with Peloton but of course one of them was broken. Bar and restaurant area was also tired. Staff works their butt off and clearly overwhelmed. This place needs a top/bottom remodel but reality is they are booked solid since last June 2020 according to bartender. No time out to fix anything and they are printing money. Lastly, homeless roam outside all day. Sad mental health issues that are just not dealt with properly by Broward county Read less

My husband and I enjoyed three nights at the Ritz after a business meeting. The room, hotel, staff and amenities were outstanding. The staff went out of their way to take care of every need. The hotel had complimentary bikes that we rode one afternoon. The fitness center was the largest that I have ever experienced at a hotel. The machines, equipment and cleanliness were outstanding. Nothing was ever out of place. We visited the pool bar and the main bar. All of the bar tenders were friendly. The breakfast cafe had delicious coffee and a "to go" breakfast sandwich. The catering staff provided a delicious breakfast and lunch buffet for the business meeting. Read less

My husband and I took a long weekend trip (Saturday-Tuesday) at the end of August to Fort Lauderdale. Initially we had booked the Marriott Harbor Resort down the street, however, upon checking in, we encountered a dirty, run down room and immediately decided to switch our reservation to the Ritz property. We are so happy that we did! As Gold Elite members, upon checking in the staff upgraded us to a wonderful room that had extra space and a small living area. The lobby itself felt fresh and clean when we walked in, as did the room - a stark comparison to what we experienced at the Harbor Resort. During the duration of our stay, we spent most of our time by the relaxing pool. The pool had a calming ambiance, even when it was fairly busy over the weekend. While the beach access is extremely close, we found the section of the beach where the chairs were set-up to be less than pleasing. This was our first time to Fort Lauderdale (we typically go to Marco Island) so we weren’t as used to the vibe on the beach. We preferred to stay on the property and sunbathe by the pool instead. However, if you do like the beach there, access is super easy and just a very short walk across the street. Some additional pros/cons we experienced are outlined below: Pros: -Very helpful and kind staff -Wonderful fitness center that was very clear and had everything we needed: from weights to treadmills, to Peloton bikes -Great location near restaurants along the main strip -A short ride to Las Olas boulevard - which provides some excellent options for dinner (we wish we had spent more time in this area!) -Coffee available in the lobby each morning, as well as small cafe options for breakfast -Felt very clean and staff was taking necessary COVID precautions Cons: -We each had a spa service while we were there, but found the service to be a bit underwhelming and the spa itself wasn’t very impressive as compared to other properties we’ve stayed at, such as the JW Marco Island -There were multiple times when we had to proactively ask for our room to be serviced. We do understand this has been a struggle point for many hotels, though, due to COVID. -Pool was chipping in some spots, could use some upgrades. -Burlock Coast (restaurant within the hotel) had limited options Overall, the cons were less so about the hotel, and more so about some of the services offered, so we don’t view those as detracting from our stage - but would more so like to highlight these items for management. We truly enjoyed our stay here and will certainly be back in the future! Read less
