The hotel

A homely hideaway at the beach, this simple seaside escape gives you all the comforts of your own suite and all the charm of its ‘small beach town’ location. We found the SpringHill Suites was constantly cleaning and requiring /encouraging everyone to wear a face mask 😷 inside the lobby and elevators. Really felt the hotel staff cared very much about their guests well being and were ALL very friendly. We will back next time we’re in the area.

It’s been a long winter, and I needed to venture out, so I drove across the state and checked in at this well-situated beach-front hotel. The receptionist was clearly not happy to see me. I don’t know what she was doing that I was distracting her from, but I was obviously an unwelcome interruption. The hotel was really not busy. My room rate, $171, was the same with or with an AARP card, and once I had agreed to the room and swiped my card, the receptionist told me there was a $15 charge for parking in the garage “which will show up on your invoice” and “there really isn’t much of a breakfast.” My room was on the side second floor - and as has been stated in other reviews, was moldy smelling. Fans were running to alleviate the problem - they didn’t, and an employee told me the a/c in the hallway had just gone down and the repairman was on his way. The fans were still running the following morning, so apparently he hadn’t gotten around to them yet. The fans looked fairly stationary to me - like they weren’t going anywhere soon. Apparently, COVID has also given the hotel a reason to remove hair dryers. Breakfast was pitiful. The saddest thing about this is that I expected just a little more - some greeting that might have made me feel good, hallways that didn’t reek of mold, and maybe the offer of a doughnut for breakfast. I won’t do it again soon. Read less

We had 2 rooms and the A/C in one of the rooms did not work properly. Everything in the room felt wet. They had large fans running in the hallways that indicated a problem. Did not feel like the cleanliness was up to the usual Marriott standards; especially during COVID. You would expect to see maintenance every morning at a beachfront… Read more

Image of the Tripadvisor rating Not following COVID-19 protocol

Although a nice property the hotel was not following protocol for safety guidelines. The bar in the lobby was open and people were hanging out drinking in the lobby Saturday night. About 30% of the guests did not wear masks and although signs said required there was no attempt at reinforcement.
