Nice, clean, modern hotel. We loved the easy access to the beach.
Its located on a street with a busy night life.
The lobby had a strong alcohol smell which was annoying.
"Underground" garage parking is 10 bucks.
We would come back again.

Let me start off by saying this hotel is nice and clean. Staff is great. Carpets in the rooms were being shampooed the day we left. However the bed and pillows are terrible. Let me start off by saying this hotel is nice and clean. Staff is great. Carpets in the rooms were being shampooed the day we left. However the bed and pillows are terrible. My husband and I didn’t rest well and woke up with back, neck and headache. Also we had to call for a room change because the sofa bed had springs coming through and my kids were not able to sleep on it. A roll away bed was offered so we chose this option rather than moving rooms, we were all tired and ready for bed. Also if you choose partial ocean view with a balcony, you will be facing restaurants that are across the street. Wasn’t happy with that but was nice to put our bathing suits out to dry. Also the bathroom configuration is awful. It’s directly across from the bed. So if you have to get up in the night to go to the bathroom you will wake someone up if you have to turn on the light. I used the light from my cell phone so as not to shine the light and wake up my husband or kids. It has frosted glass but the light still shines through. Breakfast was standard fare. Eggs, sausage, cereal, muffins, waffles. But the area was kept clean. Again a nice hotel but the beds and the bathroom will keep us from returning.

From check in with Gavin, to checkout with Sandra, everyone was knowledgeable, helpful and comfortable to talk to. Great location on the beach, great food choices, helpful recommendations! Would recommend this hotel and would stay there again!

Let’s start with the positive. Location! The location is probably one if not the best for New Smyrna Beach as you can walk to several bars and restaurants. Our favorite was the Ocean Breeze right across the street with nice views, drinks and good food. Also walked down to the Grill at Riverview and enjoyed a nice dinner on the water. Unfortunately that is where the positives end… I am a lifetime Titanium Marriott member and can honestly say that there are very few if any Marriott properties that I have stayed in that I put into the category of “Never Again” but this Springhill is at the top of that new list. I did not stay on points (paid full price) nor did I expect special treatment but I did expect the hotel to be clean, functional and the staff to be friendly and accommodating especially since it has only be open for a little more than a year. First impression upon walking in was “Wow! how could a hotel get this dirty/worn in just a year?” Well after staying you realize it’s due to poor design meaning that the only way to get from the parking deck/car to the beach is for everyone to drag all their wagons, coolers, tents, chairs to the elevator, down the hallways and then through the lobby. And this has to be done every day you go to the beach but since this is such a pain most people don’t want to do it so they just drag all this stuff back to the room which also trashes the hallways and rooms on the upper floors. It was not uncommon in the mornings and afternoons for the elevator doors to open and not have enough room because of wagons, full size surf boards, chairs, etc. Add to this the fact that the A/C shuts off when you leave the room and the carpet is not only dirty but feels damp all the time. We first noticed this upon arrival to our room when it felt musty and muggy and the carpet damp from the humidity. We thought it was just because someone had left the A/C off or it was set too high... Wrong, the room remained that way the entire stay and we struggled between freezing trying to keep the room cool and humidity out of the air or too hot when we tried to turn it down and the heat came on. The worst thing however was when you left the room for a day at the beach and it went off completely during the heat of the day! Message to hotel management, this is the beach, it was 100 degrees when we were there so the ONLY way to keep humidity out of the rooms and make them comfortable is to run the A/C at a reasonable temperature all day. Off is not reasonable and having the system switch to heat when you turn it up 1-2 degrees to make it go off is also not acceptable. Add bug bodies/droppings in the lights and just an overall feeling of uncleanliness and we were glad our stay was only 3 nights. Just so I am clear this property has potential and we have stayed in MUCH worse and even enjoyed some of the local hole in the wall beach hotels on previous visits. The problem here is that we were paying for a Marriott property and expecting much more for the 2X price and this Springhill just doesn’t deliver in its current state.
Outside the pool is very small with not enough chairs or umbrellas especially since there is essentially no monitoring beach visitors coming up to the pool to refresh in the shower, take a dip in the pool or go to the bathroom. The gates are 3ft tall allowing anyone to reach over and open them w/o the room key and half the time are not closed anyway. The only gate that doesn’t matter in stopping beach comers, the one that allows hotel guests to bypass the lobby is screwed shut from the inside (which I’m sure is against code) meaning guests have to reach over the gate, use their card key and then twist the outside lever to release the lock. Even if this gate did work it also has to go through the very small walkway between pool and chairs (1ft) so is useless in bringing anything to the pool/beach so everyone comes through the lobby as mentioned above. The bar had decent drinks but is an afterthought seating only 6 or so people with no outside access. You need to come inside the lobby to order anything meaning putting on shoes and shirt from the pool when you want a drink. Breakfast was typical Springhill powdered eggs but unless you wanted to sit in the 85-90 degree sun outside (no umbrellas) there was not enough seating as the breakfast buffet is in the lobby and the available tables could only handle maybe half the people. For the remaining days we elected to walk next door to Beacon’s which was much better food and we at least had somewhere to sit and enjoy our coffee.
The staff was not very friendly and acted like they didn’t care or were inconvenienced if you asked them for anything. While I understand many beach/resort Marriott hotels don’t really cater to or care if you are a Marriott Bonvoy member, they could at least be courteous. I used the Mobile app to check in which obviously was not convenient for them because they ignored that when I mentioned it and I had to re-check in upon arrival. When asked they said they would activate my mobile key but they never did and finally when I asked that evening they just told me it just wouldn’t work. Funny how the next day when I asked someone different it just magically started working when they actually did it. It also took 2 calls and finally a visit to the desk to get foam pillows for my wife who is allergic to feather which by the way if they had looked at my mobile check in notes would have already had them in my room. We were also supposedly “upgraded” to a balcony room but considering the tiny balcony overlooked the 24 hour 7-Eleven on the rear of the property we would have appreciated the desk letting us know this in advance and asking if we wanted to stay in what we originally booked because sometimes these rooms can be noisy at night. Lastly, when I asked if Titanium members got bottled water (like every other Springhill I have stayed in) the clerk looked at me and in a huffy voice said “Nobody gets anything for free here!!” I will say the housekeeping staff was the one exception as they were friendly and accommodating during the stay however the last day when we had been approved for a 1:00pm check out they knocked on our door 3 times between 11am and Noon. First two times supervisors asking when we were checking out and the last the housekeeper to see if we were gone. Finally had enough and left at 12:15 to never return!!
ps - If you do decide to chance it, the hotel actually provides pool/beach towels they just don't tell you about them and hide them next to the guest safe behind the front desk.
Lastly don’t be surprised if you see good reviews for this hotel on the official hotel site or sites that reference those reviews just be aware that they only allow reviews if you are invited to participate after a stay. Wonder how they pick those people???

Service and accommodations were very good. Oceanfront room with balcony was just right. Great bed. Nice breakfast also. The underground parking garage is efficient and convenient. Enjoyed the view and proximity to Flagler.
