The hotel

Restored to its 1888 glory, and registered in the National Trust Historic Hotels of America, this Moorish castle-like landmark is a very special place to stay. With authentic period features and decor, you really will feel like you have taken a step back into yesteryear. This hotel was the hang-out of aristocracy and royalty; inside, it's all tapestries, velvet and chandeliers, with top-class dining and discreet service. It's in the heart of the Historic District, where you'll find boutiques, antique shops, museums and more. The Poseidon Spa is a great addition to this luxurious hotel and provides the perfect place for some relaxation and pampering. If the hotel itself isn't already enough, you've got access to the private Serenata Beach Club on pristine Ponte Vedra Beach, which is just a 15 minute drive away. Enjoy a day on the beach with your toes in the St Augustine coquina sand, or splashing around in the family pool before an oceanfront dinner.

The hotel stay for our middle of the week romantic getaway was absolutely perfect. The moment we walked into the hotel we were greeted by beautiful holiday decorations and at the front desk we were welcomed into the resort by Lakisha Powell. She welcomed us like good friends or family and was very friendly, professional, and knowledgeable about the area. Lakisha Powell was exceptional as she was enthusiastic about assisting us and went above and beyond to make our stay as pleasant as possible. Lakisha Powell is a main reason we would highly recommend this hotel to family and friends. Read less

We have stayed here a number of times. It is a beautiful historical property. It has its quirks being an older building but that is part of the charm. The staff is impeccable especially considering the time of year we visited during the Nights of Lights. Lakisha is a true gem and made our long weekend. She ensured we were settled in a room that met our needs and did it with grace. We sincerely appreciate her taking the time to take care of our request. All the staff working Thanksgiving weekend 2023 deserves special recognition as they were few against many and made sure that service was above expectation. Thank you! Read less

A classic boutique hotel in the heart of St. Augustine. Marriott-run. Well-trained staff. Nicely-appointed rooms. A good small business conference destination. Two issues. Pool music is set way too high. Annoying. Unnecessary. Extremely loud in my room to the point I had to set TV volume well up to hear over the noise. Bathroom renovations in the lobby forced all guests to travel across the driveway to the meeting room side to use facilities. Also irritating. Obviously temporary but eroded the dining experience. Speaking of dining - our catered meals were good. Attentive staff. But I found the dining room and annex did not match the hotel reputation. I had two semi-disappointing meals. Didn't return dishes to the kitchen but should have. Always difficult when serving larger parties but my dishes had either sat too long before serving or were overdone. Average experience. My group's consensus was the same if not a bit lower. Read less
