Hotel employees are required to wear masks but I saw several wearing them below their nose, one on their chin and one of the receptionists actually pulled her mask away every time she spoke. Encountered several housekeeping members with no masks on at all. Sign at the elevator says no more than two parties but this was impossible to do with only two elevators and 17 floors. We were on the 15th floor, south side and often waited 10-15 minutes for an elevator, 15th floor hallways were not air conditioned. AC was also not working well in the living room of our one bedroom suite, maintenance did try to fix it twice but was not successful in doing so. The room was incredibly filthy. Pretzels, various wrappers and gum from previous guests were found in the couch, behind the curtains and underneath furniture. Cabinets and counters were sticky. Twice I tried addressing these issues but management simply nodded their head, promised me to credit me with some Hyatt points (which I did not ask for) but failed to deliver even on that. We also stayed at the Hyatt Centric in KW during this trip, which was much cleaner and had proper safety protocols in place so it seems that the problem is not with the hotel chain but with the incredibly poor management of this place. We enjoy Clearwater but will not be returning to this hotel. Read less

I don't recall seeing any onsite dining, at least nothing that stood out. The room was spacious and had a convenient kitchen area with a partial ocean view. The elevator to the beach is always packed and waits can be timely. The lobby is also small. The Clearwater Beach chalk art festival occured during my stay. The festival along with the beach boardwalk evening activities, vendors, and entertainment at the nearby pier had a lively and fun atmosphere. All this excitement was just within steps of the hotel. The beach was beautiful and the water was warm for late October. The hotel isn't bad at all..but for a property labeled a "Hyatt Resort", I expected more after previous experiences in Scottsdale, Kauai, Huntingdon Beach, and Orlando Grand Cypress. It's not one of my top favorite Hyatt resorts and should probably be removed from that category. I didn't feel like I stayed at a resort but more of standard nice hotel. Read less

Pool packed, my guess is folks come in from everywhere to use pool. Hotel had wristbands but nobody to enforce. Doors from parking garage lodged open for easy access to pool. Security aggressive with my 14 yr old daughter b/c we had a backpack cooler. Not a way to treat a guest who paid over $4,000 for the week. Funny Gov Pritzger owns this place (IL) who had IL locked down but does nothing for safety of his own hotels. What else? Had to ask 4x for room cleaning. Mgr finally got it done of 5th or 6th nigh after continual begging. She apologized and offered to waive resort fees...however just noticed cc bill and didn't even follow through on this. Won't ever be staying with Hyatt again! Check out Sandpearl or Wyndam, seemed to have their stuff together. Read less

I’m somewhat puzzled. I hate writing bad reviews. In this particular case, it’s even more daunting because I had given The Hyatt Regency in Clearwater, Florida, an extraordinarily glowing write up six months ago. This time, I was taken for a ride. Literally. If they ask you upon checking in: “Would you like your room to be cleaned in the mornings or afternoons?”, do not believe them. What they don’t tell you is that you get charged the full fee (including taxes and all the rest of it) but rooms are only cleaned every five days only. Now, mind you, carpeting in these rooms are old. A beach resort is humid. Imagine the rest. Imagine not having them vacuum cleaned ! “Sir, your room will only be made on every 5th day”. It’s a pretty simple explanation, right? Well, try getting someone to answer a call made to “housekeeping” (yes, I needed toilet paper, soap, clean towels after 4 days!). Forget it. “Housekeeping” does not respond. However, it allows you to leave a message. Did they ever call me back? No. It wasn’t until I bumped into a cleaning lady and her supervisor by chance in the corridor. Then, and only then, was the truth told (and, luckily, I walked away with two toilet paper rolls and some fresh towels!!). Why charge a full fee when the service is restricted? The entire world is in Covid-19 mode and, thus, functioning at half or less capacity. Fair enough. But, please, be clear and be honest about it !!! To top it all, I was slapped with a high bill at checkout, in spite of the fact that everything had been pre-paid. Yes, I’m not talking about the routine extras. I was charged extra for four out of the eleven nights. Now, one week later, I’m hearing from my travel agent that some of the money had been returned to my account. Not so! Why did I accept those charges? Call me an idiot but It was 5am and my cab was at the door. I had a plane to catch (at 8am from Tampa back to NYC which, by the way, happens to be Delta’s only direct flight). I did not argue and simply paid. In January, I simply loved this hotel (in spite of the fact that The pool wasn’t working: it was being repaired). This time, in June, all the relaxation I had hoped for in the divine resort town of Clearwater, vanished during the flight back. Thoroughly disappointing. LOVE Gerald Read less

I chose this hotel based on location, need for a 2 BR suite, and the Hyatt name. The hotel is fine. It is NOT a resort. The pool on the 8th floor is not large enough for the amount of people in the hotel. Good luck finding a chair. Beach access is very good. Parking is included in the price. The pool on the 8th floor is not large enough for the amount of people in the hotel. Good luck finding a chair. Beach access is very good. Parking is included in the price. But the price was high considering we had no housekeeping! You are paying for the location in the middle of Clearwater Beach. Our suite was huge! The walls could use a little more art. The balconies were very nice. The staff is nice and was wearing face masks. The stupid guests were not. Read less
