The hotel

There’s a certain seaside feel at the revamped Cadillac Hotel & Beach Club – and it doesn’t just come from its location, virtually anchored to the sands and boardwalk of Miami Beach. Its guestrooms are decked out in cool whites, greys, and navy blues for a refreshing coastal feel; while the finishing touches have a hint of the Art Deco heritage this ocean-skirting oasis is famous for. The latest hotel to make it into Marriott’s Autograph Collection, when you return hungry from the beach, or a dip in its two pools, or shopping in the nearby Design District, the Cadillac’s new restaurant welcomes you back with crispy rustic pizzas straight from its wood-fired oven, while the mixologist at its oceanfront bar shakes you their signature cocktails.

The hotel is nothing like the photos in the listing. With the exception of USB sockets in the room, We felt like we had stepped back in time to 1975. We stayed two nights at the Cadillac and after checking out, my wife was covered in bed bug bites and she didn’t feel well the next day. The bed sheets seemed very old and were covered in small holes. Although the hotel was located next to the beach, our view was of a wall and an air conditioning unit. Overall, the hotel seems to be in desperate need of renovation. Read less

What happened to the Cadillac? That's the question we asked ourselves. Our stay over Thanksgiving was our first trip to the hotel in over 2 years. While still the Cadillac and still a part of Marriott, it felt like an entirely different hotel. We recognized one of the staff members from past stays who told us the hotel lost its old general manager. She was Swiss or German and was excellent. We still have the handwritten welcome letter than she gave us when we stayed. This time around, we didn't get any kind of recognition despite my husband being a Lifetime Titanium. The new management don't seem to care about guests or at least getting guests to return. While some of the outside furniture and interior decor has been updated since our last stay the guest rooms are very outdated. They were a little tired 2 years ago but everything was at least in working condition. This time around, furniture was stained, and electrical outlets were broken. The worst part of our stay? The pool was closed. It is being rebuilt or renovated. This was never disclosed. We never received a notice by email, at booking, or by phone. None whatsoever. We would have canceled and went elsewhere. While the infinity pool was open, it is a very small pool. It can fit about 20-25 guests standing around the edges of the pool. When we complained, a front desk supervisor waived the resort fee. Besides the pool issue and outdated rooms, our ocean front king room was at best an ocean view room. We received one bathrobe and one pair of slippers for a room with two people listed on the reservation. Housekeeping came every day. Turndown service wasn't consistently delivered. One day we received hand towels but no facecloths. Another day the soap was taken and not replaced. Very inconsistent housekeeping. The food at Donna Mare and Bungalow were as good as we remember it. That's because the restaurants at the hotel aren't managed by the hotel. They're run by an outside company. Maybe that company should takeover management of the hotel because they actually care about hospitality. Restaurant staff are like grief counselors as they handle all the complaints from guests about the hotel. Miami Beach has no shortage of excellent 4-star and 5-star hotels. Unless Marriott points are really important to you there is no reason to stay at the Cadillac. You can get a much nicer hotel for less money with basically the same location. We won't return. The climate control in the room was hard to manage but we were able to figure it out after the first night. At this price point for Miami Beach - I would recommend. We booked an ocean view room and the view was like a post card. The main pool was closed. Looks like they are having serious issues with the water quality - this was not a sticking point for us but it may be for others. Read less

Hotel is beautiful, staff are very friendly ! It is the perfect location on the beach with complimentary beach chairs right in front of the hotel. The hotel is within walking distance to Ocean Drive ( South Beach ) on the new beautiful boardwalk. The free Trolly stops right in front of the hotel to take you to many places . The main pool is under renovation but the infinity pool is very nice and so warm. The only suggestion would be to keep the pool open later than 7PM because it is so nice just to be in . If you want an unobstructed view of the beach you want to be on the 6th floor or higher ! The outdoor restaurant and bar the Bungalow is such a nice atmosphere for a drink and the food is awesome . The Tuna Tartar is the best ! Read less
