Esme Miami Beach

South Beach, Miami

Virgin rating

The hotel

Bringing an edgy yet sexy Espanola vibe to South Beach, Esme is a hotel come “village” that offers a fun and sophisticated place to stay to enjoy the best of Miami. There’s no doubt that the rooftop deck is the place to be here. Chill at the pool by day, whether it’s in the water or on the very ‘instagrammable’ day beds. As the day draws to a close, enjoy a sundowner from The Roof Bar and soak up the music. Live DJ sessions carry on into the night on Friday’s and Saturdays so you can celebrate the weekend in style. There’s plenty of other bars and restaurants to enjoy at Esme, make sure you book a reservation at the hidden Sushi Bar with only 12 prized seats so you can devour nigiri to your hearts content. As you walk through the buildings of the hotel you’ll feel like you’ve stepped into Spain with the plant lined terraces and deep red tones, and then that glorious sunshine will hit you as you leave the lobby – where you’re just 4 minutes’ stroll from Ocean Drive and the beach itself. If you carry on down past the Versace Mansion (which we’d recommend booking into for lunch!) to the Art Deco Gift Shop, you can join a tour of the Art Deco district. Or make use of the complimentary bicycle rental from the hotel to explore Miami Beach at your own agenda. If it’s more down time you’re looking for, the hotel offers a beach service with towels and chairs too.

After a transatlantic cruise a few days in Miami was an ideal way to round off our trip. Staying at the Esme was excellent. Check in was quick and easy, with excellent service and a warm welcome. The hotel in well located, 2 blocks from Ocean Drive and South Beach, and handy for the bars and restaurants on Espanola Way. The rooms are well appointed and a decent size for a US hotel room. The only negative was the limited amount of natural and electric light which made the room quite dark and hard to see in. Bathroom by contrast was nice and bright with a good shower and ample quality toiletries. A great rooftop pool and bar area are worth taking in during your stay Read less

Great hotel on a great location! We stayed here mid september and had a really great time. We are familiar with Miami and have stayed in several hotels on South Beach, but for now this was one of the better hotels for us. This is a boutique hotel and they renovated the place really nice. We stayed at the Village and NOT Matanza, the building accross. The first thing I noticed is that the hotel had a nice smell. No hard chemical smell like any other hotel I have stayed in on South Beach. The hotel is located next to Espanola Way. The last time we visited Miami was in 2019 and it was not that "alive" as it is now. It has become a really nice spot with a lot of restaurants! On walking distance from the beach, Lincoln road etc., really great spot! Unfortunately, our trip started with a delay and we would arrive later then expected/booked. I emailed the hotel and Sanja replied to my email that this would not be a problem. We eventually extended our trip with the airline for two days as we missed this with the delay. Sanja was so nice to use the unused hotel days to extend our reservation. How great is that! I have not experienced that anywhere else and is what you call a great customer service! - Some small things on the hotel. The fire alarm went of two times during our stay. Luckily nothing was going on, but one of the times was during the middle of the night. That was not so great :) - We sometimes had some small, I think ants, in the room. So you could not bring any food/drinks in and forget it, otherwise they would come with the whole family :) - When we arrived, the Rooftop was closed for an uncertain time. I think it reopened again on the day we left. I am not a swimming pool person, but I would have loved it to have a look there and sip a drink near the bar! Maybe next time ;) Also, next time, I would book a bigger room as they were quite small, but so well decorated! I loved it! All with all, the customer service and help was really great at this place. Nothing was too much. If you needed something, they will always try to help you! We had a great stay until the end and we will definitely will come back when visiting Miami again! Thank you team from Esme Miami Beach! Read less

So, so bad and overpriced. A brief list of all the things that went wrong in our 2 night stay: 1. We showed up with dinner reservations at the rooftop restaurant to be to told it was “closed for maintenance” 2. The closet door in the room won’t shut and the light is on a motion sensor with no switch so kept turning on. 3. The second day we were… Read more
So, so bad and overpriced. A brief list of all the things that went wrong in our 2 night stay: 1. We showed up with dinner reservations at the rooftop restaurant to be to told it was “closed for maintenance” 2. The closet door in the room won’t shut and the light is on a motion sensor with no switch so kept turning on. 3. The second day we were here we were walking back to the room and another guest checking in was walking alongside us. Then we walked up to the same room. They had assigned her room 384- our room- and given her a key. If we hadn’t happened to meet in the hallway she would have walked in on us. This has never happened to me at any level of hotel in my life. 4. Housekeeping came at 10:30am. I told them we were leaving in 15 minutes. We left - there was no “make up room” or “do not disturb” sign to put like every hotel in the world has. At 4pm, we got back from a day out and the room was not made up. We were tired and lay down for a nap. They came at 4:30pm and woke us up. 5. At 6:45am the second night, the fire alarm went off and everyone had to leave. Obviously there was no fire so we stood outside in drizzle for 20 minutes before we could go back in. 6. The hotel breakfast place is very clunky. They had nice juices on the menu but both days said they didn’t have them because they were “waiting for the truck.” You can’t charge to your room and we stood around for several minutes while the waitress walked around holding up the credit card reader trying to get a signal. 7. At 10:50am on our last day, we came back to pack up for 11am checkout and the keys didn’t work. I walked back 5 minutes to reception (we were in Matanza house, a separate building down the street) while my wife (who needed to lie down) sat on the floor. Huge waste of money. It’s being run like a 2 star hotel. There are plenty of nice hotels in Miami Beach- stay far away from this one! Read less
Image of the Tripadvisor rating Scam! Hidden resort fee!! Rude hotel manager

Sep 5, 2023 David V

This property is a scam. They charged a $45 resort fee when my room was advertised as $93. The resort fee was not clear when I booked the room and they made no effort to correct it. The manager is rude and not trying to listen to customers to fix this terrible experience. rooms are small and overpriced. Beware this place is a scam!
