The hotel

Art deco style and relaxed beach vibes is what the Gale South Beach is all about. On one side you've got Collins Avenue, a bustling hubbub of city lights, sights and sounds. On the other is the beach, with the relaxed promenade and white sands leading to the Atlantic Ocean. And at the Gale, you've got an infinity-edge pool to plunge into, a delicious Italian restaurant to eat at, and rooms decorated with the beach and ocean as their inspiration. Where is it

On Collins Avenue, a short stroll from the beach and promenade. A 4-minute walk to Lincoln Road, and 10 minutes to the top of Ocean Drive. Transfer time from Miami International Airport: 25 minutes.

Hotel information

All rooms have complimentary WiFi access, 55-inch HDTV, premium bath amenities, hairdryer, safe, iron and ironing board, and bathrobes. Signature Rooms are 250-325 sq ft with either 1 double bed, 1 queen-size bed, or 2 queen-size beds, sleeping maximum 4 adults.

Dolce Italian (indoor and outdoor dining and drinks; open for breakfast, lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch). Medium Cool (cocktail lounge).

Infinity-edge swimming pool. Gym. Bicycle rental. Access to the beach club at the Shelborne Hotel (including 2 beach chairs and towels). Water sports rentals* including paddle boards, wave runners and parasailing.

Complimentary WiFi access. Valet parking $46 plus tax per night (payable locally, fee subject to change). Concierge. Boutique.

For rooms that state they are 'Excluding Resort Fee', there is a $40 charge plus tax per room, per day (payable locally, subject to change).

Don’t be fooled by the photographs of the rooms. We must have been put in the smallest room possible where the bed was all that fit. No table, no chairs, nowhere to place your suitcase but on the floor. Access is through a restaurant/cafe with no ramp access. Very disappointing for a Hilton curio

This hotel is ok although the benefits as Hilton Diamond guest are a bit lacking. First off I arrived at 1pm so it was somewhat early check-in but not unreasonably so. I was given the choice of a standard room right away or an upgrade later. Because this hotel does not have room types which are hugely superior than others, I knew ahead of time that any upgrade would be modest if any, so I took the standard room without waiting. The room was a bit small and no view, but the stand-alone shower was nice unlike some aging hotels which have a shower in a bathtub. I wish the room stood out more in terms of design since this is a Curio brand hotel after all, but it was maybe a bit bland. Diamond guests get 30 USD food & beverage credit for a couple (or 15 USD for solo traveller). One main dish (avocado toast) and one hot beverage ended up exactly 30 USD so the breakfast benefit is really only 50% off whereas other hotel chains give free breakfast to elites of their loyalty program. Nonetheless, the menu was adequate and the avocado toast was good quality. Overall I felt a bit ambivalent about this hotel and was not wowed in any way so I am not very likely to return because there are tons of other options in the area, but I cannot say that I would actively avoid it or discourage someone from staying. Earlier this year I stayed at both Kimpton Palomar and Dream South Beach both of which were better hotels in my opinion than Gale Hotel with all things considered, and similar price range so the comparison is fair. Amazing place, we can walk everywhere, hotel super super clean love it. I will defiantly come here again. staff are friendly and place is amazing, i couldn't ask for more. they have private beach and they provide with towels it was just amazing.

Bret was amazing. He has solved every single problem we had. Nice terrace. Nice pool. Nice room. The only thing that did not work very well was the valet parking - it took always too long to wait for the car. Access to the beach was convenient. Restaurant a la cartera was convenient

Great location, right in the middle of everything. The room was small but expected for this area and an 1940's art deco hotel. Everything was very clean and well laid out. The rooftop pool is beautiful and very relaxing spot. The staff is great and the restaurant is wonderful downstairs. The best part is being right by everything and walking to the beach with the included resort fee providing chairs and towels. The negatives: the lobby and elevators are burning hot and apparently have no AC. The downstairs speak easy is very loud and we could hear the music blaring on the 4th floor through the evenings on the weekend but the strip is already buzzing anyway. We would definitely come back to this hotel again and recommend it to anyone. Read less
