Royal Palm

South Beach, Miami

The hotel

An inspiring oceanfront beach retreat, the Royal Palm offers modern, vibrant living whilst keeping intact many signature elements of the original Art Deco design. Rooms are gorgeous, with stunning city or ocean views, rich linen robes to relax in and organic bath products. When you’re not out and about sightseeing or strutting your stuff down at the beach, relax by one of the two pools, a cocktail in one hand, a good book in the other. There’s also a state-of-the-art fitness centre and Renew Spa based on Himalayan salt with six treatment rooms. There are restaurants all around you but for good eats look no further than Florida Cookery, the hotel’s signature restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner. For cocktails, South Shore is definitely one of the places to be seen.

Loved how close this resort was to everything. We did have an issue with some loud music next door and a couple verbally fighting on the other side of us. Loved how close this resort was to everything. We did have an issue with some loud music next door and a couple verbally fighting on the other side of us. Hotel management changed both of our rooms no questions asked. I just told them I was not comfortable with being next to those guests. Very professional management. Due to Covid there was not a lot of hotel staff so we did have to wait a little longer for food and drinks. We totally understand this and willing to wait. A special shout out to Pedro serving us breakfast. He made our day. He was very friendly and welcoming. Also, Chase and Alam on the beach. I felt like these guys really liked their jobs. Overall great stay! Read less

Check-in was alright, but from then on, not a single thing was up to Marriott standards. Most the staff were rude and treated the guests like trash. There was black mold on the ceiling and walls so thin we could clearly hear our neighbors talking. In the morning neighbors started blasting music at 9am (and maids banging doors the next day). We tried to call the front desk and found the phone in room must have been broken. Instead, called on my cell 5 TIMES with no answer. Finally, I threw on a robe and went into the hall to use the hall phone only to find that phone, too, was broken. "Breakfast buffet included" extra rate actually only covered $14 (most items were $16+mandatory service charge (even for take-away) and orange juice or black coffee was $6. When we got our breakfast, there was mold growing on the bagel. Broken ice machine, and elevator - the doors were opening and closing so slowly each floor took about 3 minutes (but it was not put out of order so it was often necessary to call two elevators). Resort fee supposedly covers chairs on the beach, but having an umbrella costs $25, even though every set of chairs had an umbrella. When I said we did not want to pay $25 for an umbrella, the attendant said he would come take it away. Wow Marriott, you sure showed us! We said "forget it" and went down to the fun part of the beach and had a much better time the further we got from the Royal Palm. Read less

Came here a few days before the 4th of July. This is a nice hotel in a great location. It's basically a block or two from the most active part of the South Beach strip. Came here a few days before the 4th of July. This is a nice hotel in a great location. It's basically a block or two from the most active part of the South Beach strip. The rooms are small, so if you need the space, spend the extra money and get the top-tier rooms. The bathrooms are a little dated, but you have to expect that with the majority of South Beach hotels being in the Art Deco style. The staff was very friendly & helpful, and they actively enforced the COVID-19 protocols. Plenty of sanitizer everywhere. I will say that this probably isn't a hotel for families, due to the size of the standard rooms. Due to COVID-19, this hotel is actually priced really good right now, as our rate sropped before 4th of July weekend. I Would come back. Read less
