Royal Palm

South Beach, Miami

The hotel

An inspiring oceanfront beach retreat, the Royal Palm offers modern, vibrant living whilst keeping intact many signature elements of the original Art Deco design. Rooms are gorgeous, with stunning city or ocean views, rich linen robes to relax in and organic bath products. When you’re not out and about sightseeing or strutting your stuff down at the beach, relax by one of the two pools, a cocktail in one hand, a good book in the other. There’s also a state-of-the-art fitness centre and Renew Spa based on Himalayan salt with six treatment rooms. There are restaurants all around you but for good eats look no further than Florida Cookery, the hotel’s signature restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner. For cocktails, South Shore is definitely one of the places to be seen.

My husband was attending a legal conference in South Beach. We are fans of MarriottBonvoy properties. I am a Gold Elite member. WHAT WE LIKED: Alex Barba, the Concierge. His skills exemplify excellence in the profession. He recommended wonderful restaurants (particularly liked the Meat Market). And, stood out for an act of kindness and generosity. I admired a stone on his desk. It was colorfully painted with dots and the word, "Love." He explained that an artist painted stones, leaving them on the beach, sharing with others, and - he gifted one to me. I love it! Staff were pleasant and helpful, albeit inconsistent in results. The location is great for walkability. Room #1735 partial view of the ocean very nice. A restored 1939 Art Deco building. THINGS TO CONSIDER: Snacks can't be removed from room due to the "system." And, if you use the frig for personal items, there is a "fee" and "items would be tossed." So, it appears to exist for the convenience of Marriott and the vendor, not the guest. TV did not work for most days of our stay. Staff attributed it to wind. No offer to compensate, i.e., drink, meal, etc. TV does not offer streaming services. Checking in we were told the room had a balcony. It was a Faux (fake) balcony. Sigh. Quality of Housekeeping services inconsistent (and, I tidy the room and leave $5. daily). Once we dined in the restaurant for lunch. My husband found the Fish Tacos to be disappointing. Room #1735: Intermittent mechanical noise. Read less

Great chairs included with $33 resort fee. Beach staff is awesome. Izzy and Alex and all the guys are super friendly. Bell hops are great too. 2 pools are big enough. Located 5 min walk from popular Espanola way in one direction and Lincoln Mall in the other. Nice bars and lobby atmosphere. History of the hotel is very interesting. My grandparents met here during WWII when my grandfather was stationed on south beach. Read the displays by the elevator. Only downside is the rooms are clean but dated. Bed uncomfortable. We got a good deal on hoteltonight, so I wasn’t too bothered because everything else was great. You definitely don’t want to spend time in the room. Doors don’t block sound at all... from the bathroom or the hall. Bring earplugs. It’s loud around 4am when everyone gets in from partying. I would stay here again for sure. Read less

Our server Kris was great while we were laying out on the beach, she was constantly checking on us and making conversation. I would recommend Royal South Palm Beach to anyone, the Resort is very nice and the staff is very comparable.
