SLS Hotel South Beach

South Beach, Miami Beach

Virgin rating

The hotel

Situated in the playground of the rich and famous, this is a playful concoction of sophistication, elegance and exemplary service right on the beach, just minutes from Ocean Drive. Elegant and luxuriously feminine, with an added contemporary edge, this accommodation really is fit for royalty, whilst the mirrors on the ceiling and box marked ‘sinners,’ add a very French twist to the otherwise demur décor. Designed in the style of a bathtub, there are 2 swimming pools which come complete with a 10 foot tall silver ‘rubber ducky’.

We had a great time at the SLS South Beach -- what a great boutique hotel in a convenient location, steps from the beach! We were upgraded to an Ocean view room (husband's birthday/amex gold), which was a clean decent spaced room, with a beautiful view of the beach which was useful for seeing the sunrise and figuring out if it'd stopped raining or not. The king-sized bed was quite comfy, and appreciated the couch that lined one side of the room. We were on the 9th floor and it was always quiet. Check in was easy, and appreciated the help we got from Fernando the concierge! The hotel inside itself boasts 2 restaurants Katsuya (only at dinnertime, we didn't try it, but looked like it had some decent deals going on) and Bar Central (open all day). Our room booked thru the Amex Gold card included breakfasts -- you select a few items from the menu (eggs your way, pancakes, french toast, waffles, or continental breakfast; and includes pot of coffee and juice. The breakfast was fine, nothing amazing but it was free and filled us up; service was sometimes spotty so make sure you keep on top of your server (we once waited 30min for food, only to find out the the food order hadn't made it's way to the kitchen). Be aware that miami likes to tack on 20% tip at restaurants -- even when we tried to order take-out from the hotel restaurant, they insisted they can't remove it (our uber driver had said by law, you can ask them to remove it). Outside by the pool and beach, you can order food/drinks from some very nice ladies, or from Hyde bar. We really enjoyed how convenient it was to just walk down to the pool or an extra few minutes to the beach, and have towels and beach lounge chairs readily available and some very nice staff setting everything up. Our stay was during weekdays so we never had issues getting chairs; also really appreciated the free drinks that were available if you have a Chase sapphire reserve card! (helped mitigate the $40/day resort fees haha) The hotel location is walking distance to Esplanade way and Lincoln way; otherwise it was easy $15-30 lyft rides to anywhere else you wanted to go. We really enjoyed our stay and recommend this hotel for anyone looking to stay in South Beach and wanting the convenience of easy pool and beach access! Read less

My wife and I spent 5 nights at SLS South Beach. It was a perfect romantic getaway. The hotel is great for adults. The things that we loved: The location, the view from the room, the shower, the bathrobes, the beach and the swimming pools. What we didn’t like: leaving. We’ll definitely return.

The bed was very comfortable, and the esthetic of the room was great. I had a city view which was great!! The room was clean, staff was great, and valet parking was very convenient. It was within walking distance of the Filmore theatre which was why I chose this hotel.

There is a manager there with the initials of A.B. She is a scammer. She will yell at her staff and treat people like pawns. She over charges on room items and will not go back. Rooms are super small. Staff besides the manager is solid. I won’t be scammed here again. A lawsuit is being made from the extras they charge that people don’t use. They… Read more

The staff is wonderful. More attention to details in the wear and tear of the property. The room did have minor upkeep issues. Overall my stay was very comfortable. The pool and beach amenities were great. The food at Katsuya was amazing, taking advantage of the Miami spice menu. The front desk agents were very accommodating with a late check out.
