Place was clean and neat. Just the beach service was not very good with the exception of their new employee Andres. One of the waitresses just threw our food on the cabana and left abruptly when we ordered food. We never received a bill

In fact, we liked it so much we cancelled later parts of our vacation to come back and stay extra nights at the Palms. Perhaps our favorite part of the stay was the friendly service, in particular Alberto in the restaurant was absolutely amazing. He took ownership in his customers and sought us out each morning to make sure we were being taken care of. The staff down by the beach was great as well ... jumping at the opportunity to help set up chairs and umbrellas and bringing us drinks and food. Read less

Initial view of the reception area was impressive, however, our initial check in experience left a lot to be desired. Admittedly we had arrived a little early and only one of our king size ocean rooms was available (708). On entry it was a little cramped and the carpet looked as if it needed a good clean. The initial view out of the window looking at the ocean was impressive; however, this was marred on closer approach to the window of the view overlooking a large flat roof and the builders yard to the left. The room was located opposite the elevators which were very noisy. Our second room was intended to be even closer to the biew of the building site and elevators (room 706), so as you can guess we contacted reception to request a room change ( after a wait of 2 1/2 hours) we were informed that no rooms were available that kept our party close together (mum/dad and 18 year old daughter). So my daughter was given room 614 on the right hand side of the property away from the elevators and we were given room 914, again both of these rooms seem very tired and had carpets in need of a deep clean or replacement. After a visit to the beach area I returned and had a shower. At this point my wife was approaching the cupboard area in the main room and noticed that the carpet in frpont of the cupboards had become sodden (the cupboards backed onto the shower area). We contacted reception and a member of the maintenance team arrived to review the situation, whereby not only did he refute the suggestion that the shower was leaking but he went so far as to insinuate that I had poired water on the caroet, or that I had stood there allowing the residue water from the shower to runoff or that perhaps the cleaning staff had earlier spilt something (total crap as the area wasn’t wet before I took a shower). After speaking to a manager again (who wanted us to stay in the roowhilst they try to resolve the issue) We were moved to room 1010, again the room was tired and the carpet was in need of a deep clean or replacement. The biews; however, were stunning! Most of the staff were really pleasant and were a credit to the hotel. The pool area was disgusting and there was often debris left over from the day before (one member of the pool staff (not the tiki guys) stood on a piece of debris (plastic icecream scoop) which then broke, looked at my wife and then looked at the debris before leaving it were it was (my wife disposed of it, in case it caused a cut injury to any passerby). The pool longers were filthy having stains and guano on them which weren’t cleaned. The area to the left of the pool stank of sewage and the pool itself had a thick crust of grease about 3” high around all of the waterline. We took the breakfast package which apparently only covered the buffet (not the al a carte menu) as shown on the website) we were not made aware of this. There was a lot of confusion over this issue with the restaurant having multiple changes of mind over how this matter should be resolved (eventually Mosef the duty manager managed to sort it) all we wanted to do was pay for what we had! Carlos from the door area was very pleasant and knowledgeable as was the lady who issued towels( one thing i will say is that some of the towels did not look as if they received a wash after every use. The evening meal in the restaurant was delicious and our waitress (an Argentinian lady was a credit to the hotel). However, I must state that drinks and food at the hotel are expensive. Read less
