The hotel

When you think of an Orlando holiday you think of Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando and the many other theme parks, water parks and attractions that there are to visit. However, you’ll be hard pushed to want to leave this hotel with the facilities and activities they have on-site for all the family! A huge resort, with spacious suites that are up to 5 times the size of your average Orlando hotel room, this is perfect for families and groups alike. The suites are complete with kitchen and dining area, for those evenings when you want to chill after a busy day exploring. The Sufari water park is an attraction in it’s own right, complete with water slides, lazy river and a surf simulator. There are other swimming pools if you’re looking for a more chilled vibe, and whatever pool you’re at, you’ll never be far away from a bar for refreshments. The activities aren’t all water based, there’s a huge indoor entertainment centre with arcade games and glow in the dark mini golf, the kids won’t know where to start! The resort feels secluded and self-contained, but you’re just a five minute drive to shops, restaurants and attractions on Highway 192, and only 10 minutes from Walt Disney World, with a complimentary shuttle bus included to take you to the door and back.

We stayed onsite as a family of 4 for 4 days , upon check-in we were upgraded to a 3 bedroom unit. The resort itself is very nice, new property with nice pools and water park. The unit was very nice, everything was in working order, and was very spacious. The cons: the resort is literally in the middle of no where near a citrus grove. It is FAR from internation drive and the main areas of Orlando. You are truly in the middle of no where. If you are going to Disney only then you are not too far out but the traffic is killer. The resort also has a very weird layout and parking situation since it has indoor garages that run through the buildings. It's kind of a maze. The onsite food and beverages are very expensive and leave something to be desired. We ate one time at the cafe at the waterpark and it was over $100 for four people. A turkey wrap is $18, drinks are $15 and up. We ended up ordering delivery from other restaurants or went out. Read less

My family and I just came back from a 5 day stay at The Grove. If you are expecting top notch service, look elsewhere. We stayed in a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom suite overlooking the fountain area which was spacious, modern and really had all of the amenities of home. The water park was a great place for my daughter (age 5) to play and she spent a LOT of time there. That's where the positive review ends and we go downhill... There is NO housekeeping. We found out that if you stay any less than 6 days, you do NOT get housekeeping. This means YOU take out your own garbage. There is no cleaning of the rooms AT ALL so bring your own mop, bucket and vacuum cleaner. You will have to make your own beds and there will be no laundering of ANY sheets/blankets/pillow cases. Your toilet paper will not be replaced. Nor will your tissues or towels unless you tell them you need something. Your garbage and soiled towels must be taken out by YOU and YOU must request new items. It's crazy. Our sliding glass door was broken when we got there so we immediately alerted the resort about this issue. We were initially told that someone would be up to fix it so we would be able to sleep with the door closed and locked but no one ever came. We called the following day and were told it would be fixed at 9am but returned at 11pm to find that nothing had been done. Long story short - it took 4 days for anyone to come up and fix our door. The same employee who fixed our door also unclogged our toilet. He then left the dirty, poop covered plunger in our full garbage pail in the bathroom. How disgusting. Our phone headset did not work at all so all calls were made on speaker phone and the phone labels were all wrong so we never knew who we were calling. After five days of telling us someone would replace our phone with a new, working one - nothing was ever done about it. The hot tub and pool by the restaurant are FILTHY. I don't know if they don't use a skimmer, but it was full of leaves, bugs and debris. One night, while my daughter and I were asleep, I heard a noise in my room in the kitchen "hall" area. I walked out to find two employees standing IN MY ROOM. I reported this to three associates. No one seemed to care too much and any time I tried to speak to a manager about this they were "busy". One staff member gave me a $120 credit from my parking and resort fees but no one would speak to me about the incident. No matter where we were, we saw housekeepers doing nothing but hanging out and talking to one another but it took over 24 hours to get soap (which is ALSO not replaced unless you ask for it). The resort is also HUGE. I mean GIGANTIC and confusing. So bring your map and some serious patience. Read less
