A private resort, exclusive to Virgin Holidays guests in the UK, Balmoral Resort offers high-end homes with everything you might possibly need from a home-away-from-home. Where is it

In the up and coming Haines City area, getting to Orlando’s theme parks, outlet malls, and restaurants is easy, as The Balmoral at Waters Edge is just off US Highway 27 and has easy access to I-4. It’s within 22 miles to Walt Disney World Resort, and 31 miles to Universal Orlando Resort™. Distance from Orlando International Airport: 16 miles.

Hotel information

Choose from a 3- to 6-Bedroom Villa. All with private pool, covered lanai and open-plan living and dining space leading to a private terrace. Full kitchen with stainless steel appliances and quartz counter tops and a 2-car garage. All villas have complimentary WiFi, HDTV and safes. 3-Bedroom Villas have a master bedroom with en-suite bathroom, with 2 further bedrooms and a full bathroom, with some having an additional half bathroom, sleeping maximum 6 people.

5-Bedroom Villas sleep maximum 12 people.

6-Bedroom Villas sleep 14 people. 

Superior Villas consist of the same features, with a larger pool deck and whirlpool.

Please note: swimming pools can be heated during the winter months for an additional charge, which can be pre-booked and paid prior to departure from the UK. The majority of pool heaters run 8-10 hours per day, and will maintain a water temperature of approximately 10 degrees above the outside air temperature. Pool heat may take up to 48 hours to heat up to a higher temperature.

Just back from another Fantastic trip to Balmoral Resort. We had a 3 bedroom house. The house was spotless as are all the grounds around the resort. The kitchen had everything you could possibly need . It was so relaxing to sit around our own private pool in the mornings and head down to Balmoral waterpark in the afternoon. Then in the evening we would head to the clubhouse where the was live entertainment every evening. The staff were amazing and so helpful always had time for a chat. Will definitely go back again. We have just returned from a stay at Balmoral (booked via Virgin Holidays) and having read the previous reviews I was a little apprehensive about our stay, however I had nothing to worry about. Pre-arrival communications were good and we received everything we needed ahead of leaving home to travel to Florida. We were lucky to be upgraded from a three-bed to a four-bed property. We had great service from the Balmoral team before travelling and we were able to pre-arrange our pool heating so our pool was a lovely temperature on arrival. The villa was easy to find and in a quiet location overlooking the sports field. There was no information book in the villa but we suspect this was due to Covid precautions. For information trash collection day is Friday. As we had moved the bins closer to the house to make putting trash in them a little easier, we placed them out to make sure they were emptied during our stay. We did have a few teething issues on arrival, the wi-fi instructions in our arrival email did not work, the cable TV didn’t work, there was no hair-dryer or safe. Due to our arrival time, we were unable to speak to anyone onsite as office hours had passed and as these issues could not be considered an emergency, we emailed the main office team for assistance the next day. We managed to fix the cable TV by plugging everything in (be sure to double check this if yours doesn’t work on arrival), and the next morning we located the wi-fi router in the villa hidden behind a TV in one of the bedrooms and connected using the details on the device. We purchased a hairdryer the evening of arrival. Unfortunately, the Balmoral team were unable to install a safe for us as they didn’t have one in stock (communicated via a visit by a member of the Balmoral team to our villa to explain the situation which was appreciated after email correspondence). The villa was clean and had everything we needed but as previous reviews have noted, I would bring your own pool towels as the ones provided are a little small. The kitchen had everything we needed and all the equipment worked. The paper towel, sponge and a little washing up liquid was a nice touch to get started. The only thing that would be a beneficial addition would be a couple of trays for the oven and a dustpan/brush. We used the garage to help keep our car a little cooler and we were very grateful to have an electronic door (also spotlessly clean). The pool was heated and this made using the pool very enjoyable but the loungers are not very comfortable without the mats (as shown in official pictures) as they are wicker, but we note that their removal is at Virgin Holidays request and I hope this is reconsidered soon. The bedrooms and bathrooms were perfect for us and there was a blanket in each closet. For information the TV’s in the bedrooms have streaming services rather than cable TV. On refreshing our bedding, we understood why one mattress’ had a dip in it – a lot of slats were missing from the bed frame and we later discovered some of the slats in the garage. We would expect a member of the housekeeping team to have reported this for repair as not all renters will be there long enough to need to refresh their bedding, but this did not impact our stay. Would I stay again, the answer is yes. We liked our villa and its cleanliness, the ability to communicate with the Balmoral Team and its location. Read less

The villa itself was super clean and being a housekeeper myself I really appreciated that! We paid for pool heating as I knew my son would not be out of the pool, it had a lovely view of the sunset at night and we just loved sitting out there at night. The only downside was the I4 traffic if you wanted to go Orlando end , it seemed to take a while. I can’t wait to one day go back from the UK as it beats a hotel stay and the only place I’ll stay now would be Balmoral, it exceeded my expectations and is a lovely place to stay with beautiful clean villas. Please forgive the shorthand, I would rather try to forget this poor experience which zapped far too much of my holiday time! I am not sure why they are prompting me for a review. We not received the Villa we were sold. Both Virgin Holidays and Feltrim websites have since been updated which I hope is in effort to prevent some of the issues we had. Pre arrival I requested pool heating and was advised I needed to book this when I arrived despite being happy to prepay. Our arrival time meant this wasn’t possible as reception was closed, not very helpful! We did request a water view and did get this, seeing gators and tortoise walking by was a highlight. Villa felt very sad, furniture was dirty, stained and ripped, dishwasher was broken and carpets in bedrooms looked old and not like you want to walk on them barefoot. No cushions provided for the loungers, instead these had cobwebs and needed cleaning when we arrived. Towels are the size of postage stamps, thin and scratchy. No towels provided for the pool, we had to buy some at the local supermarket. Kitchen equipment is extremely limited with cracked glasses. I complained to all email addresses and phone numbers I had upon arrival with no response. Visited the reception the following morning and was told they would ‘report it’, had no further action taken. I explained this was a special holiday and could they move us, but the lady clearly was helpless to help in this situation. I asked to have a manager come out, they were ‘in a meeting’, I requested they visit our Villa or call us. They was no contact at all. A cleaner visit but there was little she could do as we had already wiped the sofa and loungers down, she couldn’t fix the whole Villa. No further cleaning visits took place in the two weeks. To fix the dishwasher we found a maintenance man in the area and asked him to come in. He was great and managed to get this up and running. Most concerning; the Villa is accessed via a keypad with code provided. A few days into our stay three people entered the code and tried to enter the Villa. Thankfully my parents were there and intercepted them, turns out the Villa had also been booked through Air BnB. Who knows who else had the code. Balmoral did nothing and I had no action from them or Virgin Holidays to change the code or reassurance that we would be safe in the Villa. Cue a number of sleepless nights and paranoia double checking the locks. This is not a place I will return to. Read less

We were a group of 9 staying at Balmoral Resort Florida for 3 weeks in April. We stayed in a 6 bedroom villa which could accommodate 14. Whilst we had a great holiday, and would stay at this resort again, there are many things which could be improved to make the property as high end as it was marketed. The villa looked tired, was cheaply furnished, such as broken beds and drawers, and was severely under stocked. Some of the beds, whilst useable, were broken, all the bedroom storage had drawers that would not open and many of the closet doors did not close properly or fell off. Some of the bedroom lights also did not work and there were cracks in the tiles in the living room floor. Considering the villa could accommodate up to 14 people there were only 4 spoons, 7 forks, 7 mugs and 11 dining chairs. The kitchen was very under stocked, with no baking trays, no jug and not enough saucepans for a large group. Whilst there was an iron there was no ironing board and no clothes airer to dry swimwear or non tumble dry clothes. The pool area at the villa was nice but only had outdoor seating for 6 and there were no sun lounger cushions on the two sun beds as shown in the Virgin Holiday brochure. The resort itself was fine, albeit that the streets did look a mess as the rubbish bins were left out on the road and not put back on each individual property. The communal pool was adequate although the water slides did look tired and could have done with a refresh. Having said all this the size of the villa was perfect and the resort staff were very friendly and helpful when assistance was requested. Read less
