As with most things on property at universal the prices are pretty steep. We made a quick trip to Walmart on turkey lake road, a 10 minute drive from the resort to stock up on snacks, water etc. If you can afford it we would recommend a stay as the express passes are a real useful perk. Really loved this hotel. Stayed at Portofino last visit and thought that was great, but I like trying different places, plus Portofino had works going on, and I tried Hard Rock in Dominican Republic and wasnt overly impressed, so choose here. Wanted one of the 3 that gave the fast pass. As this was the cheaper of the 3, I wasn't expecting to like it as much. But I actually liked it more than Portofino. The hotel had a beautiful aroma. The tuk tuk shop and coffee were absolutely amazing. I am vegan and the rest of the family are vegetarians who don't eat egg; yet we had so much choice from this seemingly small shop, which I was not expecting. Plus the coffee was good. The hotel has a brilliant location, although there were boats taking you to the parks and universal area, there was a very beautiful walk by the lake with flowers that took you there which wasn't long at all. We opted for this almost every time. If I'm right, it was quicker to walk to the parks from here than Portofino, but the kids were younger then, so don't quote me on it. Service generally was brilliant, we missed a bus to the water park which was farther and one of the porter guys drove us there. Enjoyed the whole stay here, left happily, wanting to recommend it to people I know coming to Orlando, and would return here myself despite not normally going to the same hotel. However, one thing left a slight bitter after taste, or one person. It was the security guy Brandon Portillo. We moved hotels to be nearer Disney for the 2nd half of the hotel and realised we had lost our passports. So we came back and from the onset you could tell he didn't want to help. He took his time coming, when he came he was moving so slowly, his demeanor showed he wasn't that bothered. Amd we right, he didn't think it was important, he wanted a report filled in and said over the next 11 days he would investigate! He was very contradictory. We felt the only place we would've left the passport was the safe and it was left open from the night before we left. The new guests in the room let us check anything we wanted, but we just looked at the safe and it wasn't there. We asked if they could ask the person who cleaned the room, as that would be the only other person to have access. And ask if they could search her bag. We weren't accusing her, but 4 passports gone and it would give us piece of mind. He was adamant that he wouldn't do that unless we saw her physically take it! But then we would've taken it off her! He said its policy that they don't check staff belongings. So I said if staff know that, isn't that inviting problems? To which he said its isn't policy, they do it under circumstances that warrant it. Yet missing passports few hrs ago clearly wasn't that. We were calm despite being shocked by this security guy who was meant to be the head. We said even if it was found we didn't want to take any further action just happy to have our 4 passports back. Pardon the pun but Mickey Mouse could've done a better job. Despite our worry and our frustration with him, we were calm trying to explain. At one point he abruptly left no explanation. I assumed he was gone, it was very rude for him to leave like that, no explanation. I was waiting and waiting. Decided I'll ask reception to call the manager. Then out Brandon comes with the floor manager Samuel. Bless him he was a nice guy, very timid. Already looked red. You could see he understood us, but he kept saying we have to stand by Brandon's decision. He didn't have the confidence in himself to go against Brandon. Brandon said he wouldn't even inform us if the passports showed up! He said we already have about 12 passports in the back we don't have the time!!! He wanted us to call in everyday and check. Now I'm not sure about you but what item is more important than a passport going missing? You'd have no hope if you lost your phone, he would not care to even speak to you I doubt. Anyway for the purpose of the embassy I filled the form and called the Police expecting them to give a crime ref number. But they said they were coming and within 10 min they were there. Brandon said to us they wouldn't do anything and certainly not check the cleaner. By now it had been many hours since our passport had been missing and she knew we were looking so it could be dumped. But never the less the police said we don't have a warrant but we can ask her. And that's all we wanted. Piece of mind before our holiday got turned upside down driving 4hrs away to Miami to sort via the embassy. Brandon was so red faced and angry as this wasn't going to plan. The police also said they would call us if it showed up. The Police, who are much busier than Brandon, can call us, but security from a hotelier can't! The Police were lovely despite the reputation American police have, and us being Indian. Later we found out that the hotel had also called the police on us!!! We weren't even raising our voices. So I don't think this head of security guy can deal with anything if he needed to call the police on a family consisting of 2 kids, a petite lady weighing less than 45 Kg and her husband. It was comical. They had to escort us out, but they didn't rush us they were there helping us fill embassy forms etc. So despite us not making a scene, the security guy created one by inviting them, hilarious. However, that only helped us, as when do police show up in 10min for something like this? So in the end, things didn't go his way, and I truly believe it was because of his motive not to help from the onset and our calm levelheadedness. Karma. I like the hotel bar him, so for those going, I'd advise be extra careful with your belongings as there is no true security or anyone who can help find lost items. Read less

Thieves and management don’t care. We stayed at Loews Royal Pacific recently. My daughter notice little things going missing. Phone charger, watch charger, items of clothing after we moved from there to port Orleans and she couldn’t find as we unpacked. We reported to the hotel in case they’d been left there and they replied that the room was empty and nothing was found in our room. We then noticed my daughter passport wasn’t there. Next was frantic panic and tears realising due to her age she wasn’t eligible for an emergency travel document even if we travelled to the embassy. I called our insurance, the embassy etc. I called Loews again and stressed our concern and asked them again. They again said the room was empty after we left. I asked for a manager to call me as they seemed so nonchalant. 2 hours later they call and say they can’t find security to get them to check lost and found but the room was empty so it won’t be there. I stress that it seems weird that they can’t find security and surely the manager can check lost and found. Another hour passes and I get an email to say the passport is there and I’ll need to get an Uber to collect it. No call to ensure I found out. Just an email. I jump in a cab and collect it. There is a note on the passport with my room number, name and check out date. They won’t tell me where it was found or why I wasn’t called when it was found. They have been quite rude and considering it’s a passport I wonder what would have happened had I not persisted. They now won’t even engage just discussions about our other missing items. Read less
