My review is going to sound like I’m being overly critical, or even petty, but I assure you I’m neither of those things. I booked a week long trip in Irlando to take my 12/13 year old daughters on an unforgettable spring break trip before they get too old to want to gang out with dad anymore. I specifically booked this hotel because it was a Universal property, to allow early Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios theme park acces, as well as because it had a separate bedroom for me to sleep in since I’ve been told I sometimes snore (obviously a lie, lol). Upon checking in at the information/ticket desk at the hotel, I was informed we were only afforded a 30 minute early entry into Volcano Bay, when the temps were still in the upper 50’s and no early entry into the main theme parks. I was So not happy, as I would’ve booked elsewhere if I was made aware of this upfront. The good- The hotel is new, dry nicely designed, large, open and airy lobby/dining area with a Starbucks, bar, lots of dining seating and with a cafeteria style foodservice facility. The quality of the food was very good too. The pool area was huge, with lots of empty lounges too since 98% of people are at the parks. The pool was huge, with a sand beach entry and it even had underwater speakers. The rooms looked nice, they had a double sink, table that sat 4, kitchenette and USB ports at each side of the beds. I liked that they had 1 bedroom suites that had 3 beds too; big selling point for me, as I would have Gladly stayed in one of their nicer hotels, but they were all either single rooms or Super expensive to have a separate bedroom. They have bus service that takes you to and from the Universal resorts and that was great. The bad- The variety of food was never rotated out in the café. It was good, but always the same. Plastic cutlery was likely your only option too. They had actual silver where too, but it was always out except one day when we’d come through, so it really took away from the experience. The food prices were horrible for a resort, except for the fruit. I’d skip the fruit at the prices they charged. As noted in other reviews, it was hard to tell if the bedding or walls were thinnest. You would hear everything in the rooms left, right, above ir below you. Especially anything like an item being scraped on the walls ir floor; those sounds would transfer from door to floor, like you were 2 feet away. It was quite literally the worst sound transfer I’d ever heard in 50 years of staying in any motel. If it was “Tom Bodett, leaving the light on for you”, you’d hear him flicking the switch from the next room over. The sheets and blankets were so thin, again, budget motel vibes. The room bedroom had a very small closet, about 24” wide, a shelf above and no ther storage in the room. No drawers, no usable shelves over 4” deep, no nightstands, it was tight. I was the only one in my bedroom, so it worked, but if my wife was with me then a no go. No shelf in the water closet/shower room for towels. Make sure they bring one in ahead of time or your kids will be reaching their wet arm around the door after the shower, for you to pass a towel to them. The USB port I used in the bedroom wasn’t even strong enough to charge my iPhone and watch at the same time. I have a dock to charge both but was woken up around 1am to my watch starting and stopping the charging cycle every 10 seconds as the charger kept shutting down to insufficient power being supplied. I brought a USB plug in, so that wasn’t the issue, but relied on their the first night since it was there. Half awake at 1am, I pulled my watch off the charger, so it died halfway through the next day. The shower got decently warm at full “hot”, but never actually hot. I get it that they don’t want kids burning themselves, but they went overboard. The shower mixing valve was very stiff to rotate, so I informed housekeeping about it on my way out one day for them to get corrected (by maintenance). It never happened. They also use that valve every time they clean the room too, so they should’ve known and already internally addressed. Never happened. The power outlet/USB port was dead between the 2 double beds. This wasn’t noticed until the morning after our first night there, so my daughter woke up to dead devices when heading out for a full day at the park. The elevators are at the back of the hotel, opposite from the parking lot. If you drove need to use the parking lot, then you have to walk from the lot, to the complete opposite side of the hotel and then back track all the way back to your room. If may not sound like a big deal, but it gets old very fast if your room is near the parking lot. The key reader from the oarking lit, into the hotel, stopped working 2 days into the week. Although the pool and pool area is massive, there’s not much to it. Great if just the wife and I, but there is only so much kids can find to do in a 3’ deep pool that covers 3 acres and nothing else to it. A slide, varying depths, pool activities or something would e been nice. The pool service is nonexistent. A pool deck with 600 lounge chairs, yet no walk around food/drink service and only a single bartender. This was over Easter weekend and Spring Break too! No early park access, paper thin walls/sheets and a lackluster pool experience were enough to keep us from ever returning here again. On our helicopter trip around the Orlando area, all I could keep thinking was how nice it would have, to have booked at any of the other 100 beautiful resorts that we were flying over. Lesson learned. Read less

I had the privilege of staying at Universal Orlando Resort Endless Summer Dockside Inn and Suites over Easter weekend (2024) with some family and friends. We stayed in the three bed suite with a kitchenette and pool view. There was five of us in a room which was fine since we were only in the suite during sleeping hours. However, there are some minor details that could have been better being that this is a Universal Resort hotel. This was my first time staying at Dockside so I was not sure what to expect. The ambience in the lobby was on par with the theme of the hotel (Endless Summer) as a born and raised Floridian this was a perfect setting, dining options were plenty and the pool area had enough room to where every party had the space they needed to enjoy their visit. In the halls of the rooms there was a foul odor along exits and the elevators, perhaps it was from the ice machines but it seemed to linger throughout our entire stay. In the suite itself, the design and room layout was that of a typical hotel room, two tv's, three beds, a kitchenette with a table and mini fridge, microwave and mini coffee maker. The beds were comfortable however, I feel the hotel could have done better with linens, the room gets cold and the "comforter" is more of a sheet which provides little to no warmth with two people to a bed. The pillows as well There was enough sink space for the bathroom area, sinks were separate from the toilet and shower which was convenient with five women in one space. When using the shower, the water didn't get hot. If anything it was lukewarm at best and the towels could have been more of quality like the premier hotels (Lowe's Royal Pacific and Portofino, and HardRock). When drying off I felt as though I was taking skin with each swipe, the material appeared to be "over used" which deterred my need to shower each day. *Benefits of staying here: you can shuttle to CityWalk and the parks with their Universal bus service (runs from 7am-2am), this was convenient since we went to the parks each day during our stay. I recommend sitting in the front because most of the windows are blocked with characters on the outside. In the lobby of the hotel there is a lot of seating and outlets to charge electronics or have meetings, there is also a full Starbucks as soon as you walk in, along with a full bar adjacent to it. The dining area has multiple options and there is a Universal Store/Quick Stop as well for toiletry needs, souvenirs, etc. Read less

What a wonderful carefree stay we had at Dockside . No need for a car, busses ready every few mins to take you to volcano bay, Isle of adventure or universal . The food court was amazing and quite reasonable with large portions . Pool was a nice warm temp with lifeguards,. Had a wonderful time and felt like everything was at my fingertips
