Disney's Art of Animation Resort

Walt Disney World, Orlando

The hotel

Disney's Art of Animation Resort pays homage to four Disney and Disney.Pixar films: The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, Finding Nemo and Cars. Boasting nearly 2,000 rooms altogether, the sea-inspired Little Mermaid section of the hotel sleeps up to four people. In the other three sections, there are Family Suites easily sleeping up to six people. All are relevantly themed promising a magical experience for young and old alike. They also boast a great range of amenities with fully-equipped kitchens in the suites an added bonus should the midnight munchies strike! Outside are four courtyards, each devoted to one of the films with larger than life characters smiling down at you everywhere you look. King Triton is a definite highlight, towering 35 foot into the air and very impressive indeed. The main swimming pool is a great meeting place with sun terraces and loungers galore. There’s also a pool bar to order snacks and perhaps a cocktail or two. For a more relaxing ambience, head to one of the quieter pools, just as lovely but with less hustle and bustle! A themed food court makes dining fun, serving family favourites for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Writing this from my room as I hear the Hollywood Studios fireworks going off. Although that’s not ideal with young kids at 10:00 at night I can’t complain about being close to the parks. The only real reason this isn’t a five star review is that the dining option is pretty bad. Very expensive and not delicious. The character statues are a thrill to see the first time and fun to say hello to in the morning. One thing that could certainly benefit would be to have a coffee stand at the outer hotels so the first Coffee of the day could be had without the long walk. Can’t beat the price, either. Will definitely look into staying again. Read less

First off this resort is listed as a value resort but they really spared no expense! It is a beautiful and nostalgic resort that wraps you up in all your favorite moments from the classics we love. The Little Mermaid, the Lion King, Finding Nemo, Cars, it's there. From the front door it takes you from concept to color and just as you remember it, it jumps right off the page or out of your memory and makes you feel like a kid again. The smell's are superb which made me feel like I was in the animation studio where these films were born. It's perfect. It truly has something for everyone and I couldn't express how much I love it here. We have stayed there twice and I would do it again! Sometimes it takes a speed bump though to really appreciate every aspect of a destination like this. Things don't always go according to plan and we ran into a problem two days before we would be heading home. Life happens sometimes, I won't go into details however it was rough for us. But my wife and I remained calm and let them know exactly what was going on. You'd think at 10pm it would be hard to find someone to turn to but I was met immediately by cast member at the concierge desk who got me a manager within a few short moments. Her name was Alyssa and she was by far one of the most understanding and kind people I met the whole time and that is saying something because everyone was amazing to us! She listened to me and then asked what questions she needed to, and that shows you how they want to make sure they have it just right. And that lets them know exactly how best they can help you and make things right. The entire interaction was genuine and that sincerity and spirit meant the world to me. I couldn't ask for anything more but she gave me something to pass to my wife from the gift shop that would be a tangible reminder of how they make magic happen each and every day. We did not have much of a budget for our trip and that gesture still brings a tear to my eye. It isn't just a slogan from a commercial it is the reality of staying on property. You can experience the love at every moment. It never takes a break. Thank your cast members every chance you get because they deserve it. And while I didn't get your last name I hope you see this. Alyssa, you know who you are and thank you from the bottom of my heart! Read less

Something that really made our stay was the staff availability to assist and answer question. Ms. Bouchua truly made our trip exceptional and I am grateful for her kindness and patience. Thank you! We absolutely loved this hotel and cant believe it is classed as a value resort, the grounds were spotless always so clean and well kept!the theming was amazing the kids loved it! We stayed in the little mermaids section, after reading reviews I was about worried about how far away it was from everything I had read on a few reviews it was a 30 min walk from main building, your lucky if it a 10 min walk!and it's such a nice walk with lots to see on the way! The room was more spacious than I thought although if kids were any bigger could see why it would be a bit tight! We managed to store our suitcases and a huge double buggy in so plenty room for us, the room was clean and well kept, beds were comfy, although quite high my wee one fell out a few times, just keep in mind if taking younger kids, the eating area was ok, was a bit manic like a canteen style, the food was nice although the same food on offer so if there for a while can get a bit repetitive, we had issues with our dinning plan as dont think its explained well enough, some days we would choose our food to then be told we could have more sides etc then other days we had too many as some sides were on our plate which we didnt realise was a side, maybe a bit more explanation to how this works would help future guests to minimise any confussions. The pools were all great, all provided towels and life jackets for kids, there was always enough towels, jackets and sun loungers, we used all 3 pools and were all good, buses were great to and from parks and very regular, sometimes every 10 mins, the sky liner is an added bonus so easy to jump on and off to the parks, we opted out of mousekeeping but were able to request things when needed no problems. Overall this hotel was amazing for our trip we all loved it! We would not hesitate to come back and stay here again, thank you art of animation for making our first visit to America one we will never forget! Read less
