The hotel

Disney's Art of Animation Resort pays homage to four Disney and Disney.Pixar films: The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, Finding Nemo and Cars. Boasting nearly 2,000 rooms altogether, the sea-inspired Little Mermaid section of the hotel sleeps up to four people. In the other three sections, there are Family Suites easily sleeping up to six people. All are relevantly themed promising a magical experience for young and old alike. They also boast a great range of amenities with fully-equipped kitchens in the suites an added bonus should the midnight munchies strike! Outside are four courtyards, each devoted to one of the films with larger than life characters smiling down at you everywhere you look. King Triton is a definite highlight, towering 35 foot into the air and very impressive indeed. The main swimming pool is a great meeting place with sun terraces and loungers galore. There’s also a pool bar to order snacks and perhaps a cocktail or two. For a more relaxing ambience, head to one of the quieter pools, just as lovely but with less hustle and bustle! A themed food court makes dining fun, serving family favourites for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The hotel itself was amazing. The staff was helpful and the cafeteria was decently stocked. (1) If you had the plan you could get Alcohol with breakfast which was fun! (2) It is a bit of a walk but it was scenic walk with informational signs about the movies or characters from the Lion King/Little Mermaid (3) The all of the drop off bartenders were fun and wonderful hosts. (4) Little Mermaid room is essentially a motel style. The artwork in the rooms are goregous and the tub is huge! I wished they had USB clocks or ports (5) Mini-fridges kept stuff cool ♡ Of course with the good comes the bad. (1) Unfortunetly I have developed hives from the water. Talking to several of my Florida friends it was a Florida thing. After the third day i was really wishing the vacation to go by quickly so I can shower in my apt because Im extremely itchy. (2) I believe the most frustrating part of my stay was the day I left. The previous night I inquired about morning buses going to Animal Kingdom lodge so we could eat at one of the resturants for breakfast before departing. It was recommended we go to hollywood studios and catch a bus from there. After nearly 30 minutes with no bus i went over to another bus inquiring about when the bus would arrive. They explained the bus we were waiting for would not arrive for another 2 hours because it didnt have service in the AM for that day. Getting back on the bus to our hotel we had to cancel the reservations that we were now late for and ate at Art of Animation so we could eat something before we left for home. Read less

This resort is good for a place to rest your head but that’s about it. We stayed for 4 days in a little mermaid room in January 2019. The room was musty and had cracker or cookie mashed into the floor. Our room was super- far from the lobby. Pools were freezing. No restaurant or sports bar on the property, only the cafeteria and a pool bar. And it… Read more

No restaurant or sports bar on the property, only the cafeteria and a pool bar. And it is clearly the lowest hotel on the Disney totem pole, as bus stops were always farthest away from the parks. That said, I appreciated the front desk and some of the bus drivers. Buy a travel mug and fill yourself with coffee and soda everyday Read less

This is a little weird doing this review. This is because I did not interact with anyone from the hotel section of the resort. On our way to the resort, I got a text that the room was ready. We went straight to the room and used my phone to open the door. I never saw housekeeping, but the room was clean every time we returned from the parks. We… Read more

We plan to go back within the next five years. Photos represent the Cars Suite,Building 1. It is the closest Cars building to the bus stops and food court. Read less

I felt that this had much more magic than the other resorts because it’s full of different Disney characters, including Nemo, Simba, Ariel and Lightning McQueen. The staff were so kind and helpful. The food court was lovely and had a great selection. My parents were tired of eating burgers and fries and loved the salad bar. We stayed at the Lion King suites and I must say, the beds were so comfy (yes, even the sofa bed). It fits a family of 6 perfectly! The only drawback is that this is a value resort, so the walk from the parks to the AoA bus stop is longer (only a few steps but I was so tired that I felt like it was miles away). Read less

A few issues include - the hallway and room carpets are in really bad shape, stained, worn and beyond the point of needing replacement. The common area floor surfaces were very dirty, as well as the floors in the lobby area, and the tables in the restaurant were sticky (and not being bussed very well at all). There was dust on several surfaces in our room, indicating very poor cleaning procedures, one bathroom door was damaged on the bottom, and a couple of lights were out in the fixtures. This is still a wonderful venue, and the children absolutely love it. But it's not hard to notice a less-than-Disney quality lately. We may stay at the Floridian next time. Read less
