Disney's Coronado Springs Resort

Walt Disney World, Orlando

The hotel

The early days of Mexico and the American Southwest are perfectly recreated at this superb family resort with its relaxing, desert-style setting. Palm-shaded courtyards and Spanish haciendas sit alongside a state-of-the-art health club, complete with jogging trails. Nuevo Latino cuisine is served at the Maya Grill or enjoy more carefree dining at the Pepper Market. Kids will love hurtling down the 5-storey-high Mayan pyramid into the pool below, themed as an exciting archaeological dig site. Divided into three areas, you can stay in the wilderness of the 'Ranchos', in the 'Casitas' among pastel-shaded squares and fountains or the 'Cabanas' on the banks of Lake Dorado (the Lake of Gold). Whichever you choose, the whole family will love it!

First, we are, annual Disney Passholders, and go to the World 4 to 5 times a year. This year has been trying but we have gone in October 2020 and again now, in January 2021. This resort is the best moderate rate that we have stayed. And we have stayed in moderate, low and expensive resorts. What I like: restaurants and inside bars to enjoy an evening cocktail. Spacious and clean rooms. Atmosphere. Comfortable beds and great shower. The normal conveniences are: flat screen tv, mini fridge, coffee maker, iron, hair dryer, 2 queen beds, extra pillow and blanket, and safe. During our stay we had a problem with the AC/Heat. Called and an engineer was at our room within 15 minutes. Word of warning for those who cannot or do not like walking. This resort is spread out. Wear comfy shoes. During COVID there is online check in and check out. Housekeeping is every other day. Masks are always worn. Some of the restaurants and pools are not available. Read less

It took us almost 20 years and a pandemic to try this hotel but we are so glad we did. We've stayed at almost all the other Disney resorts on property but we'd always avoided this one due to less-than-stellar reviews. And we've always been fans of the Mexican decor. Now with the tower and the "Spanish" additions, this hotel is incredible! We actually chose to stay in the older buildings (the Casitas) because we wanted instant outside access (no balconies in the tower) and we loved them! The recently rehabbed rooms were beautiful and the cleanest I've seen on Disney property (although we did have a small issue with the cleanliness of the exterior hallways. Those could have used some sweeping/cleaning as we started to see the same dirt and plant debris on the stairs outside our room every day.) But it certainly didn't change our opinion of this resort (and we are clean freaks). The bathroom had the most usable storage and layout of any resort, the long table was great for all of our suitcases, and we had plenty of room to add an air mattress for my daughter. We travel with 2 teenagers so space is a big deal, and this room was perfect for all of us. The grounds are gorgeous, and we loved walking around and exploring all of the different "neighborhoods" and the beautiful tower. And those hammocks on the beach outside the Cabanas! So relaxing to rest under the palm trees. The pool was even cuter than it appears online, and the poolside bar had amazing fish tacos and salads. We ate at all of the restaurants and bars throughout the resort except for Three Bridges as it was always booked. Note that food is an issue at Disney right now - there just aren't enough menu choices anywhere, at the parks or the resorts, and there are limited restaurants open - but we had a car so we ended up at Bonefish and McDonald's for 2 meals and it was fine. The on property meals we did have were very good. We loved eating outside in front of the food court with a view of the pristine lake for breakfast, and the rooftop tapas bar in the tower is a must-do, even if you just go up to check out the view (which they let us do during the day, too). And the staff was amazing - Lana at the front desk fixed my parents' problem with their passes and My Disney Experience even though they were staying at the Dolphin down the street. The lady working the coffee bar was wonderful too. I could go on and on but one thing is certain - we will be back! And as an FYI, our usual favorite is Animal Kingdom. I think the grounds and room here even trump that resort! Another note: service throughout the parks and resorts was better than it's been in years, in general. We're Disney regulars and I felt like they had their best employees working this time, where in years past I've felt like some of that "Magic" had gone downhill. Keep up the good work Disney! Absolutely the most beautiful Disney resort ever! The rooms are spacious and the beds are extremely comfortable. The landscaping is magnificent. The hospitality from the staff was above and beyond. The waterside restaurant was delicious.

We have stayed at Coronado Springs Resort in the past and have enjoyed the resort although there can be quite a bit of walking as this resort is large. This year we decided to try Gran Destino at Coronado Springs due several reasons which included: less walking with Tower, newness of resort, restaurants, standing shower with overhead rain shower head, holiday decorations and all of these things did not disappoint! We were lucky when arriving at MCO early evening and only had to wait around 5 to 10 minutes to load onto the Magical Express. Maybe a quarter of the bus was already loaded with people with 3 to 4 other resort stops besides Coronado. Just to mention, the Magicial Express sign indicating that the wait could be a couple of hours but that wasn't the case for us. We were at Gran Destino in about an hour or less. Right before we pulled up to the resort, almost right in front of Gran Destino, we received our room number for mobile check-in. I had asked for higher floor with fireworks view in hopes they would be testing fireworks that night. The entrance is one of the best and the empty lobby was beautiful and grand without being too huge! The Christmas trees were up, decorations were out and they were classy and opulent. The picturesque window was a nice touch and if Disneyworld would have been having usual fireworks displays, we did have Hollywood Studios ToT and Epcot views! The elevator banks right to the left are plentiful, speedy and accomodate one party per elevator. We rarely even saw other guests when moving through the elevator banks and when we did, people were extremely friendly and caught their own elevators. Two or three times, other guests asked if it was alright if they ride with us which thoughtful. The rooms were spotless and comfortable. The cleaning crew replenished towels and emptied trash but did not make beds or touch any other things in the room. I missed the freshening up of the rooms but understand in these times. As far as dining goes, we mobile ordered from Three Bridges Restaurant at Coronado Springs upon arrival while we were still on the Magical Express. After dropping our bags in the room, we took the short walk around the gift shop, selected on mobile ordering that they could begin to prepare food and continued down the bridge to the restaurant to pick up our food. After seeing the ambience of the restaurant with the fireplace going, and the cool breezes of the water, etc.. we wished that we had just eaten inside the restaurant that obviously had some empty tables. When we asked if we could eat our mobile order there, they were unable to give us a table that the wait staff would potential receive tips for table service on, which is understandable because we had paid in advance. We ate here again later in the trip as a walk-up and we were able to get right in and pay that tip! Both times the food was good and we were glad we had this restaurant option at the resort, albeit a bit pricy when ordering appetizers, entrees, drinks and dessert! On our last park day, we ate breakfast at Rix Sports Bar & Grill which was delicious! I had read some reviews of this being average but in our opinion, this was a good value , not crowded, and hit the spot. On our departure day, El Mercado de Coronado Food Court finally opened and you cannot beat the price point here. We ate a quick breakfast of (mini) minnie waffles and sausage before going back up to the room to grab the luggage and leave this beautiful resort. We wished that this had been a daily option for either breakfast, lunch or dinner to save a bit of money. There's always next year, and the next, and the next!! We took a lyft to Hollywood Studios the morning after our arrival after receiving an early Boarding Group for Rise of the Resistance to ensure an earlier arrival time but used the buses on all other park days. We did not have to wait longer than 5 or 10 minutes for any of the buses. The longest wait was about 15 minutes for our departue Magical Express. A helpful Disney employee at the front desk was able to move up our Magical Express time by 45 minutes so that we could catch an earlier bus. Last year we ran behind a bit by hitting one too many resort stops before being dropped at airport and security was backed up. This year security lines were minimal at MCO and we did have plenty of time. We will definitely stay here again in the future! We have stayed at a few different deluxe resorts over the years and this resort felt more like a deluxe than moderate. We were pleased with the cleanliness, aesthetics, location, customer service and restaurants that include a mix of reservation table service, walk-up dining and quick service. Read less

We stayed in building 5 across the bridge from the tower, and highly recommend this resort. We have now stayed here and at Caribbean Beach Resort in the moderately priced range, and I definitely would return to this resort in the future. The rooms had wood look tile plank floors which were nice with kids, and the room appeared to have been recently renovated, including our families favorite feature of a rain shower head! The TV in the room was huge and we were able to stream Disney movies on demand for free! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Read less
