Disney's Coronado Springs Resort

Walt Disney World, Orlando

The hotel

The early days of Mexico and the American Southwest are perfectly recreated at this superb family resort with its relaxing, desert-style setting. Palm-shaded courtyards and Spanish haciendas sit alongside a state-of-the-art health club, complete with jogging trails. Nuevo Latino cuisine is served at the Maya Grill or enjoy more carefree dining at the Pepper Market. Kids will love hurtling down the 5-storey-high Mayan pyramid into the pool below, themed as an exciting archaeological dig site. Divided into three areas, you can stay in the wilderness of the 'Ranchos', in the 'Casitas' among pastel-shaded squares and fountains or the 'Cabanas' on the banks of Lake Dorado (the Lake of Gold). Whichever you choose, the whole family will love it!

We stayed for 4 nights. We got upgraded to a deluxe room in the new Gran Destino tower. We had booked just a regular room in the tower with water view. The tower and entire resort is amazing now. The only slight negative was not having a balcony, but we did not seem to miss it this time. Having an extra powder room was a great help when getting ready. My niece slept on the pull out sofa and said it was very comfortable. The bus stop and restaurants are so convenient if you are staying in the new tower, I would definitely recommend the tower if you are able to afford it over the other buildings. We had the water view which I found very relaxing and much better compared to the opposite side, although I know the other side can see fireworks we were never in the room at night so we wouldn't have benefited. We usually stay only in deluxe resorts but wanted to try out the new hotel, I would say it's just as good as the deluxe resorts. I honestly can't tell a reason as to why it wouldn't be a deluxe other than no balcony. We will definitely be repeat customers! Thanks Disney for a great trip as usual. Read less

We had booked our trip to Disney to take advantage of the free dining plan that was offered back in January. We were all very excited to find out that we would be one of the first people to stay in the new tower at this resort. The room was more than nice for our party of 2 adults and 2 teens. We didn't eat at any of the restaurants, just did snacks at Cafe Rix or the Mercado and ate our big meals in the parks. One thing that we really appreciated was the we were able to move our reservation back by one day due to a workshop my daughter was required to attend to receive a scholarship. We did not have any problems in the room except for the shower head in the stall would drip, sometimes well after everyone was finished cleaning up. Brought it to the attention to the staff as we were checking out, hopefully it was addressed. For bus riders, the tower is the last pickup in the morning, which means as soon as you get on the bus, you are off to your park. It is also the last drop off in the evening, which means you are in for a longer bus ride than those staying in other parts of the resort. But that wasn't too bad. When we checked in, we had a standard view booked, but was upgraded to the water view which was a nice surprise. One annoying thing was that since we did not set up any payment option for incidentals when we checked in, we got a message on the phone every day reminding us to do this and pay for the daily parking charge. I just paid it in full on the last night we were staying. The feature pool (The Dig site pool) was very impressive and we all liked the water slide into the pool. Surprisingly was never very crowded. Family mentioned that next time we come they would be interested in staying here again. Read less

This is considered the "top" of the moderate resorts! Recently rooms were renovated and a new area to the resort was added. I love the rooms because we travel with two teens- a son and a daughter. This is the ONLY resort that you can get a rollaway bed into and have a separate sleeping area (it's a tight fit- but if you shift some furniture it DOES work comfortably) for each teen! And the "door" to the bathroom area is actually a door! Not just a curtain. Helps for quiet when letting kids sleep while adults shower. Read less

Our family trip in July 2019 was a last minute-trip, and we got a great deal on the Coronado Springs Resort. We decided to stay in the Gran Destine tower, because it was new. Overall, the resort was everything and more. Staff was incredible (shoutout to Rachael who went out of her way to correct a pretty stressful check-in), the pool was one of the best we’ve experienced, and the rooms were great. While the room wasn’t overtly Disney, it was big, designed well, and had nice touches. Even though the rooms felt more generic, the rest of the rest of the resort had a great theme. We had a view that faced the fireworks, so we got a spectacular view of three fireworks shows (From three different parks) every night! Definitely a benefit with being so high up. It’s important to note, the King rooms have a couch, but it does not pull out into a bed—I had read some articles that claimed this had a secondary pull-out bed, but it does not. If you need two beds, reserve a Queen room. Buses: The transportation was by far the most disappointing feature of this hotel. Because we drove to Disney this time, we drove to some parks so we didn’t need to hassle with buses, or utilized The Minnie vans (I wouldn’t recommend this unless you have an early morning reservation at a hotel breakfast, when the buses don’t run). For families with older kids, Uber and Lyft are easy alternatives that don’t cost too much—the buses were the worst to Disney Springs, but much better for Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom. Check-in: The resort’s new lobby has consolidated concierge, check-in, and information into one desk, so, if you have a question about your magic band, making a reservation, etc. you’ll have to stand in line with everyone waiting to check-in too. This proved bothersome when a big group was dropped off by the Magical Express, because there didn’t seem to be enough cast members to accommodate the large group. The only frustration we experienced at this hotel was with check-in, because there were so many people and not enough assistance. Although, every time I spoke with a cast member I always felt like they were completely focused on my needs and questions, which made the long wait feel less frustrating. Food: Like many reviews of this resort, the food is subpar. Knowing this from previous reviews, we avoided eating here. The pool bar had decent nachos, but the chicken tacos were pretty bad. One evening, I was feeling sick and wasn’t in the mood for anything but soup. When my husband called room service to ask if they had any soup options the chef decided to make some specifically for me. Again, the customer service at this resort rivals even the most expensive deluxe resorts; from the moment we asked for soup to the cast member who brought it up and added in some calming tea he said helped him when he wasn’t feeling well, the whole experience felt completely personalized. I plan to stay here again. I would probably only stay in the Gran Destino tower because of its newness, it’s right at the center of everything so we didn’t have to walk far, and it felt newer and more contemporary, compared to the bungalows that definitely felt dated. It’s true what other reviews say, this resort has moderate prices but is packaged like a Deluxe resort. Thank you Coronado Springs for being a true example of great customer service and Disney magic. A few tips for traveling families: —the King room can easily fit a pac-n-play or portable crib. A queen room would be a little bit tighter because the second bed takes up a lot of the extra space. —there is a small mini fridge; which is big enough to store waters, lunch meat, and other food to have breakfast and/or lunch in your room. —the rooms have enough space to store your stroller, without getting in the way of people and luggage. —the TVs have a new feature where kids can watch Disney bedtime stories, pretty cool and entertained! The resort is huge and I am glad we had a car but we weren’t far from a bus stop either. The new tower is stunning inside. We ate many meals at El Mercado which were tasty, sometimes the service was rather slow at busy times and the staff would be chatting behind the counter which was annoying. One thing that was missing here for me is the Disney magic from the cast members. Having stayed at the beach club previously I felt we never left the Disney bubble during our stay there whereas at Coronado Springs you would never know your staying at Disney, some of the cast members were quite miserable to be honest from check in to El Mercado. Just no Disney magic for me. It is a nice resort though, literally 1 minute drive to blizzard beach. Read less
