Disney's Coronado Springs Resort

Walt Disney World, Orlando

The hotel

The early days of Mexico and the American Southwest are perfectly recreated at this superb family resort with its relaxing, desert-style setting. Palm-shaded courtyards and Spanish haciendas sit alongside a state-of-the-art health club, complete with jogging trails. Nuevo Latino cuisine is served at the Maya Grill or enjoy more carefree dining at the Pepper Market. Kids will love hurtling down the 5-storey-high Mayan pyramid into the pool below, themed as an exciting archaeological dig site. Divided into three areas, you can stay in the wilderness of the 'Ranchos', in the 'Casitas' among pastel-shaded squares and fountains or the 'Cabanas' on the banks of Lake Dorado (the Lake of Gold). Whichever you choose, the whole family will love it!

We stayed one night at Coronado Springs as we wanted to take advantage of the Early Magic Hours on the day we checked in. We arrived at the resort after a morning at the park and as our room wasn’t ready, we took advantage of the Dig Site Pool and spa. Pool is lovely, it seemed busy and we still had space in the pool. Had some cocktails at the pool and then headed to Casitas to find our room, as we received an update via the My Disney Experience app that our room was ready. We didn’t get the room we requested at our earlier online check in at Cabanas but our room was really clean and modern, only downside was we were in a ground floor room. The only negative about our stay was the room, being on the ground floor we could hear everything above us and I mean everything including the family above throwing toys on the floor and using the bathroom. This did wake us up earlier than we wanted to as we planned a pool morning before checking out. The bed was comfortable though. Now to positives at the top of the Grand Destino tower we watched the fireworks at Epcot, the view was amazing up there. The receptionist we spoke to was really friendly and gave us badges when she found out it was our anniversary. The Barcelona bar was good, we sat at the bar and chatted with the bar staff. The buses to Disney Springs and other Disney destinations were easy to find and unlike other resorts we had a countdown to when the bus would arrive. Overall a lovely hotel but I wouldn’t stay again unless I had nobody above us. Read less

Stayed in the Gran Destino Tower in Mid October. The Tower is absolutely beautiful! Rooms were large enough for two adults and had lots of closet and drawer storage. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because I thought the beds were a little uncomfortable. Too firm for me, but obviously this is just a personal preference. Also, the walls… Read more

I could hear toilets flushing and footsteps running around above us. Other than that....it was fantastic! Walking outside to Three Bridges restaurant was so beautiful. Dahlia lounge was amazing! Love the views and the service. Then gift shop was really nice and had every thing you could need. We ate at Rix Sports Bar, Rix Cafe, and El Mercado. All were very good! I would definitely return to stay in the tower. Read less

Ok so we tried the new tower at Coronado. It’s a beautiful place with Ritz Carlton/Four Seasons potential. But there were startup bugs. First there was not enough bell staff. Two hours for luggage sucked. We had four adults and two grandkids so we opted for the “presidential suite” room 9513. Beautiful room with 2 BR. Issue was that the… Read more

Two hours for luggage sucked. We had four adults and two grandkids so we opted for the “presidential suite” room 9513. Beautiful room with 2 BR. Issue was that the master suite was decked out for handicapped. But only handicapped! The only closet rods were 2.5’ft from the floor... I had to hang my clothes in the coat closet near the front door... Ok then when our Lutron halogen ceiling light started flashing randomly - they fixed that after a couple of days. But then every day we were there, we were awakened (permanently) every morning at 430 am when the cleaning crew in the bar on the floor above us started dragging tables and chairs around on a hard floor (screeeeeech). Every morning!!!!! That I can’t forgive. Club lounge staff was awesome tho. Every single person. Especially Van. Read less

All good, I know because I tried them. Other on site amenities inc a gift shop, sweet/cake shop etc. The grounds were beautifully maintained, the lake was a nice background for photo's and the Gran Destino tower is a truly fabulous USP (unique selling point). Customer service is exemplary from all staff and is a credit to the hotel and the company. On top of the hotel the add ons such as regular transport to the parks is regular and trequent. All parks being within 10-30 mins I have stayed in Orlando on numerous occasions so have got hotels, villas to compare against. Would I return. Yes and I would not even bother looking for another hotel. Read less

Just returned from a two week stay at Coronado Springs, the good points first, the grounds are beautiful and well kept and the people looking after them were pleasant and friendly, the beds were comfy and we found the bus service great, OK points were the rooms at Rancho, basic and would expect better at Disney for a £9,000 holiday for three, walls were paper thin you could actually hear next door and above using the toilets, not just flushing, I will leave the rest to your imagination, actually woke us up regularly. Bad points, this is more a convention centre with loud business men and women in suits mixing with holiday makers in flip flops, no Disney feel at all, if there was any Pixie dust around I think it’s long gone, we were on the quick dining plan, wow, what a let down, the majority of the food was unpalatable, service was so slow, by the time you got to sit down it was cold and the staff serving seemed to treat you with contempt, were rude and made you feel like you were a problem for them just getting your meal, more devil horns than Mickey ears, I know the response will be, we will talk to the leaders and pass on the concerns but this same complaint has been made over many months and it seems nothing has changed, it was our first visit to a Disney Hotel and possibly our last, we expect to pay a premium but the prices are extortionate , we would probably stay in a villa next time and make our own Pixie Dust. We made the most of things and enjoyed our holiday on positive note but the above points need to be addressed to live up to the Disney customer service reputation. Phill Read less
