The hotel

Tropical gardens, lavish luaus and calm waves characterise Disney's Polynesian Village Resort. Gentle people, laughter and good cheer help every member of the family to capture that laid-back South Pacific mood in no time at all. Rooms are airy and have a tropical feel with bamboo and wood décor. When exploring the resort, tell the kids to look out for the unique Kukai Nut tree. The only one of its kind in the state of Florida, the tree was brought to the Walt Disney World Resort from its native Hawaii. The hotel is on the monorail system that will whizz you to the Magic Kingdom Park.

The place has become so hypercommercialized the staff act like they're working a daycare or need to attend one. The original polynesian has been gutted out and replaced with what looks like bad 3d printing . It's anti social, it's depressing, it's a corporate monster , and there is nothing left of the architects work. The MANAGEMENT here is the absolute worst people I have seen even for Orlando...and that's pretty bad. It's as though they were obtained from incubators of clones. This rubs off on the traveller as it is so bad there is no way to avoid it...the staff are invasive and don't know their role anymore . A hotel like this is supposed to have staff that isn't seen but the staff act like it's theirs and run around in peoples personal space like annoying children... All the authentic south seas shops and dining have literally been removed. The original restaurant is now used as a housekeeping lounge and other employee space...... this building wasnt built for a bunch of mentally ill disney employees.... Read less

This is the third trip my family has made to the Poly, though it has been more than 10 years since our last visit. The resort is still delightful, and I appreciated the room renovations and soft goods upgrades that I had seen advertised. The location is ideal, especially with little ones who nap. However, the addition of the bungalows greatly impacts fireworks viewing and the pools are consistently overcrowded. The splash pad was too cold for me and my toddler niece, even on an 85+ degree day. Also, while my family found things to eat here, we tried to avoid the restaurants as we are not very adventurous and have some dietary restrictions, and most of the food is basic park fast-food (a la burgers and fries) or Polynesian-inspired fare. Captain Cook's also took a long time to prepare food and was expensive and overpriced for what you get (a juice box costs $3, a cup of cereal costs $4). If you stay here, do yourself a favor and order a grocery delivery. We saved a mint in doing so. Read less

The Poly is dreamy and wonderful. Loved almost everything about it - beds, decor, pools, location, easy parking and transportation. I will 10/10 stay here again. Worth every penny. One teeny area of criticism. The food options are not great. They are very much Polynesian themed and limited if you have dietary restrictions or the time of day.… Read more

If traveling any time Soon - note that if you’ve booked a standard room, there is a good chance that you will be facing a construction site. This means construction equipment running outside your window first thing in the morning. We were able to get a room change but I’m sure this is not always possible. This means construction equipment running outside your window first thing in the morning. We were able to get a room change but I’m sure this is not always possible. Once we were away from the construction, we had a great stay. The convenience to Magic Kingdom, pools, and grounds are great. The food can be hit or miss depending on your tastes. Read less

We had the most amazing time, the staff at the Polynesian club level were so friendly! Evan was great in helping us get situated and made everything easy from check in to check out. We go to Disney each year and this was one of the smoothest Disney trips we’ve had. We stayed a week and every day at the club level was magical. Thank you again Evan!
