This was our first time staying at a Universal Resort and it is amazing. We stayed at Surfside Inn on our way to a cruise back in the fall and decided to add in a few days at Universal on both ends of the cruise. We stayed 2 nights in a regular room and 2 nights at the end of our cruise in the suite. We loved how bright and airy the rooms were. The suites are definitely the way to go if you are staying for an extended period of time. Our kids enjoyed the space and we enjoyed being able to have a door to close at the end of the night when we were ready to go to bed. The vanity is separate from the bath so everyone can move about and get ready without stepping on one another. The picnic table in the suite was also great for a family meal in the room. Lots of storage space all around. The workout facility was top notch with locker rooms and showers. There was a water refill station as well. We also enjoyed a meal in the cafe on site. There were many different options and everyone was happy. The pool was by far our favorite part. It was beautifully set near the water between hotels and it was extremely clean. We spent our evenings enjoying the water. My kids favorite part was the underwater speakers. A great value resort and we were able to catch the bus to the park right out front. I actually enjoyed this hotel better than All Star as a value resort. Read less

This was our first stay at a Universal Owned hotel. We’ve stayed at nearly every resort at Walt Disney World - from the All Stars to the Polynesian. We like value but appreciate theming. The theming inside the hotel was every bit as good as a Disney value hotel. The same goes for our room - a family suite. The theming outside the hotel was pretty much non existent which was a little bit of a letdown. We felt we got great value for our money here and would definitely stay again. Our family suite was great. We really enjoyed the extra space and the fact that it had 3 queen beds. The only downside to the suite was a severe lack of storage. There were only 4 of us and half of us still had to live out of our suitcases. All the Universal Team Members we encountered were friendly. I should note that we stayed during the height of the Coronavirus crisis and felt Universal did a great job keeping everyone safe while still providing a great guest experience. Some negatives: 1. The internet sucked. The speed was OK but the connection dropped multiple times per hour which led to a very frustrating experience. The 5 device limit is annoying. We had 2 iPhones, 2 iPads, 2 laptops an Xbox and 2 fire TV’s. 2. The curtains only block about 90% of the light. A decent amount of light shines in through the top in the morning which is annoying for night owls like us. 3. There is a pedestrian gate directly in front of the hotel on International Drive. Unfortunately. There is a sign that says it is only open from 9am-7pm. I tried twice to come back in using my room key after walking across the street to Walgreens and both times the gate would not open. It seems like the gate is there as a punitive punishment to anyone leaving the “universal bubble” as about 1/4 of a mile around the corner is an entrance from the sidewalk that doesn’t even have a gate and is open 24/7. It’s just much less convenient to the shops and restaurants on International Drive. If it weren’t for these three things, I’d give it a 5 star review. We would definitely stay here again. Read less

Only complaint was needing a heavy blanket for bed, but everything else was excellent. Shuttles to park were a plenty, staff was kind as could be, and pool was awesome. Complete our visit during COVID and we have only good things to say about the safety procedures.

A small kitchen and there was a store on property I didn’t like that if you walked out of the hotel to hit the boulevard the gate door doesn’t work so you have to walk a block either way to get back in Also the buses to the park didn’t adhere to social distancing or seem too clean The pool though! Excellent lifeguards especially Kristina who helped and went above and beyond for me and my family and everyone else to enjoy their time she’s always on her feet talking to everyone the music even plays under the water and there’s sprinklers for baby’s The rooms were great except they aren’t doing housekeeping due to this corona virus ordeal which I’m not sure how I feel about that as I would have brought my own cleaning supplies especially with the virus the park etc Cafe food is yummy and decent priced Definitely coming back Read less

I will start by saying it is brand new and very clean bright and pretty. However the rooms are so small any more than 2 people in a Room you would never be able to walk around. . No Room to put your suitcases let alone a decent dresser or closet. The bathroom is the size of a closet you have slide around the door to get into the shower. There is absolutely no amenities in the Room no coffee pot a flimsy plastic glass and a small ice bucket. . I called three times prior to arriving to inquire about a coffee pot and was told each time there was one in every Room. There was none in the Room because there is a Starbucks on site I suppose. Went down to the small cafe that was open coffee wasn't made in the morning the lady felt sorry for me hurried up and made me a quick cup complimentary. Read less
