My wife and I spent our honeymoon here. We stayed in the overwater villa. Overall, the resort is a solid 4 star, but definitely not 5 star. Let me explain - - food was 7/10. Good selection and lots of options, but the taste was somewhat bland sometimes. - activities were plentiful, but were highly overpriced compared to other parts of the world and there was no guarantee you'd get what you pay for. For example, shark sightseeing. If you don't see any, you have to pay again to go again, yet still no guarantee. We booked a v-deck experience and tried 3 days in a row, but ended up not being able to go due to weather. - Spa was expensive as well, but very very good. 9/10 - Villa was a 7/10 or 4 star out of 5. I consider ritz carlton, park hyatt, shangri-la 5 star hotels and resorts because they go above and beyond in conveniency, luxury, and comfort. Agsana is a great resort but definetly doesn't reach 5 star. For example, luxury wise, the hotel is a bit outdated, but still nice. comfort was good like the bed and infinty pool, but some basic amenities were missing. For example, no shaver, comb, hygiene packs. Only a toothbrush. I know it's a small detail, but the small attention to detail and focus on conveniency is what makes a hotel 5 stars. Also, the restaraunts didn't have AC, so it was a bit uncomfortable sometimes as the temperature was 30 degrees celcius in April. Additionally, there were a lot of small flies in our room all over the place. This must be fixed. - cleaning was 10/10. the staff were very good and came twice a day. - the bar and restuarant staff were also top notch and I would give them a 10/10 as well - there is a mosque on the island which is nice. 10/10 - the welcome on arrival is perfected and amazing - my biggest complaint is one of the receptionist. Don't want to mention any names, but the girl there needs to learn how to be more welcoming and offer better customer service. She seemed like she didn't like us and never made any effort to go above and beyond. Any request we made was usually turned down even if it was a small request. Other workers always tried there best to go above and beyond. Special ShoutOut: 1. Laila works in the restaurants and is absolutely amazing. She deserves a promotion and is truly incredible at making the whole experience awesome 2. Riaash at reception is also amazing and very helpful. He should be managing the front desk. Read less

Everyone has high hopes for their honeymoon destination, and angsana velavaru did not disapoint. This is hands down the best holiday we've ever had and I dont think anything I can write will do it justice. From the moment we arrived at the airport, we were met quickly by an efficent member of their team, who took us directly to the sea plane departure lounge. The lounge was beautiful with nibbles and cold drinks, exactly what you need after a long flight. On arrival at the hotel, we were met with welcome drinks and a cold towel and the 5 star experience didnt stop from that point on. Our beach front property was beautiful, maintained to a high standard and was spotless. We were so so lucky that our section of beach faced south east, so every morning we woke up and watched the most incredible sunrise. The island is beautiful, rigorously maintaned by a team of hard working groundsmen and filled with beautiful tropical plants. The food is incredible, there is so much variety and each night having a theme means dinner is always different. Maldivian night is the absolute BEST! The Pool side bar is beautiful, run by a team of hard working and lovely barmen and waiters. The drinks menu is so varied and there is so much choice and WOW do they know how to make a drink. The Pina Colladas are amazing and all the drinks are made to a high standard. Every member of staff here was fantastic, polite and so keen to help, everyone we passed greeted us with a smile and a hello. There were however some people who stood out as truly excellent. Firstly, Mathin the gentleman who cleaned our room was so polite, courteous and efficient at his job. Our room was utterly spotless, he went above and beyond to look after us, making sure we were topped up with water and no request was too much for him we are truly grateful for how special he helped to make our holiday. He also created the most beautiful arrangements wishing us a happy honeymoon. Rohim one of the chefs was also fantastic, friendly and created excellent food for us every day. He was chatty and really is a genuinely lovely person. Also, Trimal another chef who was there during our stay was a stand out person who made excellent desserts each evening. Every single evening, he greeted us with the most uplifting smile, was so polite, courteous and chatty, a very friendly chap. Hathim (Appa) was a fantastic host, who again went above and beyond for us, he would go the extra mile creating lovely Latte art on our coffees and on our final day, made a necklace out of a palm leaf for my wife. Finally, the marine centre team, Fazheel the snorkelling lead and Izuan the marine biologist. Both are absolutely fantastic members of your team, we went on many excursions with them and went on the house reef dives every day. We had an incredible time and saw so many sea creatures, which is entirely down to these guys working hard to search for and find them, they got brilliant footage of our dives and of the animal which they shared with us. We felt really lucky to dive with them and learn about your beautiful waters from them. The guys driving the boats on all the excursions were also so helpful, they worked so hard to find dolphins and get us to the right places to see whale sharks and on the night snorkeling trip they spotted reef sharks on our way back home, and brought us to a stop and we had the most incredible moment with about 5 sharks swimming around our boat, truly an unforgetable experience. We absolutely loved our time here and were so sad to come home. The Maldives will always have a special place in our hearts and thankyou so much to the Velavaru team for making it so amazing.
