Villas are spacious, with their own private beach (stunning views, pristine sand and water). The outdoor jacuzzi is overindulging and the service was outstanding - staff was super polite (especially at restaurants and dining areas). Food was excellent - the main restaurant offered tons of options, besides thematic food corners (e.g. Asian, Indian, seafood, etc.) By the way, the vegetarian restaurant is a must. My wife and I went to Atmosphere for a honeymoon and the place was beyond our expectations, so we will be happy to visit it again in the future. Read less

We have visited the Maldives many times and this trip travelled with our 2 year old. Unfortunately we found Atmosphere Kanifushi to be lacking in quality service. I raised this with hotel management both in resort and afterwards, and was given thin excuses of "the hotel is busy", "the staff are new" etc. There seemed to be a lack of leadership in public areas and new staff were scatty, forgetting to bring you a drink you've ordered etc. When I'm paying around £1,000 per night, I do expect better. Facilities are excellent, pools and bars very nice. The house reef for snorkelling is very small though, other resorts I've stayed at have much better sealife with larger house reefs. If snorkelling is your thing then consider a different island. They provide snorkelling trips to nearby islands but this is the Maldives and there are better hotels to stay at if you want a coral reef on your doorstep. Don't get me wrong, we had an amazing holiday overall (I think you struggle not to have an awesome time in the Maldives!) but we felt that this hotel was below the standard advertised which really let it down and was a shame. If you are considering this resort then I recommend you also consider Lilly Beach which we felt was much, much better for families and in particular those with infants. The kids club was better there and the overall service beat Atmosphere Kanifushi by a substantial margin. We won't be returning to this resort but will return to Lilly Beach instead. Read less

What can be said about this oasis of calm, this tranquil place of beauty, and this haven of relaxation that hasn’t already been said? Celebrating her 75th birthday, it was a selfless pleasure for my mother in law to bring the whole family away to this island. 16 of us in total, aged from 6 to 75 descended on Kanufushi in a torrential downpour, having been flown by seaplane after an approx 5 hour wait in Male airport ( the weather delayed us ) For the first day and a bit the bad weather endured, and we really felt unlucky. Ravini, our family’s dedicated concierge did everything she could do for us, and this was a challenge, because 16 people all asking for and demanding service on one what’s app channel cannot be fun at the receiving end, and indeed throughout our stay, we felt that the hotel coped extremely well with our large group. The weather cleared from day two and we experienced the island in it’s full glory. The island is larger than I expected, but not overly so. It is easy to walk around, but the hotel also offer pedal bikes to make it easier still, a facility that all 16 of us took advantage of, and enjoyed immensely. At one end of the island is a large family pool ( overlooking the open sea ) and at the other end of the island is an adults only pool ( overlooking the sheltered crystal blue calm lagoon like waters ). All rooms have the most stunning locations. The “basic” rooms are situated directly on the beach looking out over the crystal blue sea but are certainly not basic, they are beautifully furnished with an interesting inside out bathroom with large walk in shower and jacuzzi bath. The most luxurious rooms are built out on an exclusive jetty and look down into the ocean with direct sea access. I’d say both have their advantages but you’d be happy in any ( there are also mid way options on the beach with private plunge pools ). All the rooms are on the calm, beach side of the resort, whilst the waves break on the other side providing an “Atmosphere”. You can sit and watch the local wildlife for hours. Hermit crabs in all shapes and sizes, geckos, and if you look into the water for long enough, a multitude of sea life including eels and black tipped reef sharks. The staff here are lovely and cannot do enough for you. We did experience a bit of waiting time in the a la carte restaurants, but there were often 16 of us eating at the same time and this was totally understandable. Philippe, the manager of the hotel was probably the most on hand hotel manager I have ever met. To say he cares about his hotel, the staff and the guests is an understatement. Everywhere we went, every day, he would appear. Everything we did, he wanted to know we had enjoyed, and when there were complaints ( nothing worth writing about ) he sorted them out. Nothing was too much trouble, and no request went unanswered. You really couldn’t ask for more. After a few days Ravini got to look after some new families, whose needs only she could cater for, and we were then looked after by Liz, a charming and intelligent member of the customer relations team. She met the challenges of our 16 strong team with aplomb and, with Disney Club levels of enthusiasm, catered for our every need. During our stay we got to eat at all the restaurants. Although the hotel itself is all inclusive ( and you cannot and will not be disappointed with the wonderful and varied buffet cuisine or the premium drinks on offer ) there are a number of a la carte options available. There is the award winning Just Veg, which is as its name suggests, a high quality vegetarian restaurant and part of your package for lunch or dinner. Then there are three other restaurants. A Tepanyaki and another Asian inspired noodle restaurant situated out on the sea villa Jetty and very nice indeed they were. There is also “sunset” over by the adults only pool. This is a high quality international restaurant serving anything from pizzas and burgers to fresh fish and steak and open for lunch or dinner. For dinner these three restaurants are chargeable, which you may not agree with. However, your package usually includes one night in these restaurants. This works, because it is the only way to a. Ensure that everybody gets to experience at least one of them during their stay because and b. They aren’t ever overcrowded. If you want to experience all three then just remember what else you are given in the hotel gratis, and you will find the extra you pay more than worthwhile and overall good value. This is an easy place to relax, and whilst there I enjoyed starting a new book every other day laying on my own dedicated sunbed on the pristine white sand just outside my room. The rooms are so wonderfully spread out that the beach ( approx 1 mile long ) never ever feels overcrowded. I even left my phone, it’s texts, emails, missed calls, tweets, dm’s et al in my room the whole holiday and didn’t even bother looking to see what I’d missed. This was a first and was groundbreaking. I just totally switched off and whatever I didn’t deal with waited for me to return to work ( if my associates hadn’t already dealt with them ). I didn’t miss anything ... take note. The relaxation and stress relief this gave me was incomparable to anything I’d ever experienced. Leave the phone alone !!! During our holiday we didn’t dive, but we did snorkel on one of the hotels many inclusive boat excursions. We also enjoyed water skiing, wake boarding, banana boating (all chargeable) and pedal boating, kayaking, sting ray feeding, dolphin seeking and paddle boarding ( all inclusive ) So as a sum up This hotel is very special You arrive in paradise where your every whim is catered for You leave paradise relaxed, stress free and totally refreshed There are other hotels in the Maldives, some of which are Uber luxurious and try very hard to be the “best”. However, I thoroughly recommend Atmosphere. It doesn’t try to be that kind of “best”, knows it’s place, and offers a perfect, non contrived luxury holiday that will be appreciated and coveted by like minded individuals. Read less

I feel like this review will pretty much be repeating everything I've written in the reviews from our first two visits, so I'll try (note, TRY) to make it short and to the point. This island is amazing and just very special. When we arrived at Kanifushi for our third time, it truly felt like we were coming back to a second home. We know and love so many of the beautiful staff now and we were welcomed back so warmly. One very different thing this time was the sight of the incredible new water villas as we flew in. They look like something straight out of a travel magazine or postcard!! The food is beautiful. Just Veg and Ceylon Bliss are favourites. But I think it's the breakfasts in Spice that I miss the most and all the lovely chefs who we get to know so well during our stay. And the FEASTS that are put on for Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve have to be seen to be believed. The island itself is simply stunning. It really does look like every perfect postcard you've ever seen. We spent our days walking, riding bikes, swimming in the stunning infinity pool, snorkeling, playing pool, playing tennis, working out in the gym, sunrise yoga, day trips to other islands, boat trips, fishing and at night listening to live music or the DJ. Every day was so full. There's no end to activities you can do but doing absolutely nothing is just as enjoyable... The staff. All of the landscaping staff who greet me with huge smiles every morning on my walks, the buggy drivers (especially Thapa), the amazing housekeeping staff, every person on the front desk and the awesome musicians who greet us at the jetty, all of the beautiful restaurant and bar staff that we see at every meal, the wonderful chefs, Hijaaz and the girls in kids club, the electricians, builders and maintenance men who made such an epic stage for NYE, and Rohit, Sampath, Usam and all the awesome guys in the clubhouse who just did so much for us. All of the managers are wonderful, helpful, hands-on and lovely and Phillipe, the new general manager, is fantastic. There are a lot of faces we really missed this year who have moved on, but lots of lovely new ones too. There are too many people to mention by name, but every single person who works here works so hard and does it with a huge smile and such genuine kindness and joy. I do, however, have to give the biggest thanks to Maxi, the assistant front office manager. Maxi is probably the biggest reason our stay was so fantastic. He went above and beyond for us, and he has done this every time we have visited. We can't thank him enough. The Christmas and NYE festivities are spectacular and they absolutely stepped things up a huge level this year with the amazing over-water stage and first-class sound and lighting set up. The entertainment and fireworks display were amazing. We miss the place and mostly the people so much and already have it on our bucket list to come back try out the incredible new water villas!!
