We stayed for 14 nights at this outstanding hotel at the end of February, beginning of March this year. We researched, researched and then researched some more, before we booked Atmosphere Kanifushi, and that research certainly paid off. It ticked all of our boxes in what we were hoping for and in fact exceeded our expectations in all areas. We were met off the seaplane by a smiling Lizzie, our hostess, who checked in on us each day to see if there was anything we needed, either by WhatsApp or at breakfast each morning. She is such a lovely young lady and you will be royally looked after if you are fortunate enough to to have her as your hostess. For the first seven nights, we stayed in Sunset Villa number 240. Our villa attendant, Anurag, kept the villa spotless, did some wonderful decorations on the bed with flowers and palm leaves, folded our clothes for us and presented me with a small posy of flowers on our final day. He was so sweet and often waved to us when he saw us around the resort. The villa was in an absolutely ideal location for us as it was near the adults only pool and the Sunset restaurant, where we often strolled over for lunch, a cocktail or a swim in the infinity pool, overlooking that fabulous Indian Ocean. It was here where we had the good fortune to be introduced to a young man, Abdulla, who is the epitome of all that is fabulous about this hotel. We simply cannot say enough good things about him! Wise beyond his years, and surely with a great future ahead of him, he looked after us throughout the holiday. In fact, we called him our magician, as he just made things happen! To celebrate my 60th birthday, he arranged a surprise private dinner for us on a secluded part of the beach, complete with champagne and wines of our choice from the extensive wine list. We had the absolute pleasure of Kuldeep as our waiter for the evening, who was so attentive without being intrusive. We chatted with him easily about his life at home and his wife who he spoke to daily. The barbecue on the beach was THE best beach barbecue that we have ever been to...and we have been to many in the Caribbean over the years! The food choice and quality was phenomenal and the setting was so romantic...a table for two, set on the edge of that lapping Indian Ocean, with a glass of fizz, is a memory that will last for a lifetime! It was interesting to chat to the staff, listening to them as they talked about life in their own countries. Two young men, Sai and Rajintha in Sunset often knew what we wanted to drink before we even knew it ourselves, as our glasses were never empty. Sai even tried to teach us some Hindu...Namaste, Sai. 😀Chef Kundan was always visible, ensuring that the food was to our liking and would often make something off-menu if we so desired...the delicious garlic bread being my particular favourite! Gobi, the bartender made a mean gin and tonic! Pankaj, the maitre d’ in Spice, never seemed to sleep. Whenever we went for lunch or dinner, he was always there, with a ready smile to greet us and ensure that we wanted for nothing. He made it look effortless and, under his direction, the restaurant ran like clockwork. Often, our waitress was Suza, with her smile as wide as the ocean, she seemed to know just when we needed that top-up of water or wine. Shithau also ensured that we were never left wanting; he must have had eyes in the back of his head! Having a little chat with Rajintha, the egg man, was a great start to the day and put a smile on our faces. He has the most fantastic memory as he knew what everyone’s usual order was and the exact way they wanted their eggs cooking. Chef Rohan was visible always and would take the time to go around the tables, speaking to guests and checking that everything was to their satisfaction. He was genuinely interested in feedback, good or bad (not that I can imagine for one minute that there would be any negative feedback, as the food was outstanding in terms of quality, presentation, and variety). We particularly liked the Tasting of the Day, whereby they would use one ingredient such as cauliflower, and use it in three different recipes, ranging from cauliflower cheese bruschetta, to cauliflower and onion quiche, to cauliflower and brussels sprouts salad; very novel and very tasty! Just Veg is a unique concept which we were keen to try as we had heard so many good reviews about it beforehand. Set on stilts, over the water where baby sharks swam around the rock pools, with the breeze to cool you down from the hot Maldivian sun, whilst you ate the most exquisite food is the stuff of dreams. Sanseesha just kept on bringing out plate upon plate of delicious food for us to try, always with a ready smile which reached his eyes. I commented on a couple of the dishes and enquiring about the ingredients. The next thing we knew, Chef Mahendra was at our table, explaining how they were made. He didn’t stop there, oh no... a couple of days later there was a knock on our villa door and we were handed an envelope containing the recipes for the two dishes I had been enquiring about. Amazing service, which is typical of the extra miles the staff here will go to to make your holiday one to remember. The second week we moved to a water villa with pool. Oh, my goodness! What an amazing room. The photos you see do not do this room justice. The attention to detail surpasses anything we have ever seen in our lives! The light switches in both bedroom and bathroom resembled something you would see in the cockpit of an A380! The lighting was superb; they have literally thought of everything. We saw stingrays, reef sharks, octopus, Moray eels, and so many multi-coloured fish pass by. It was staggering really... and all on our own door step. We loved our Sunset Villa with its direct access to that dazzlingly white sand and deserted beach, and were actually quite sad to move, but were equally over the moon when we saw what our water villa had in store for us. Once again, we were blessed with an amazing villa attendant, Pankaj, who kept up the outstanding service we had become accustomed to. Always with a cheery smile, we were never short of clean fluffy towels and we looked forward to our Ferrero Rocher at turn-down in the evening. He was also a dab-hand at towel art! 😀 As we were staying in a water villa for more than four nights we were delighted to find that we could dine at the new restaurant Pier 6. Shaped in the form of a Manta Ray, it is clear to see that no expense has been spared in creating a wonderful ambience. The chandelier over the bar is a truly beautiful thing. Not only is the decor amazing, but so is the food. This is all credit to one man: Chef Ram, who grows all his own micro greens to use in the delicious food. It is clear to see that food is his passion and he is rightly proud of what is produced in his kitchen. It was a pleasure to talk to him each evening as we popped in for one last drink before bed. The food is innovative and is presented with such precision, it is clear to see that under Ram’s direction, his team know their stuff, creating food which is of Michelin standard. When I struggled getting to grips with the crab, Imran was on hand, expertly extracting the meat to ensure that I didn’t go hungry that night! Our wines glasses didn’t have the chance to get empty before they would be refilled by Saksha, with her unforgettable laughter and bubbly personality. The shuttle which you can hop on and off if the heat becomes too much, are driven by smiling and friendly staff. As you stroll by the well-tended shrubs and flowers, the gardeners will greet you with a very polite ‘good morning or good evening’. It’s all unforced and natural. I think you can see from my review that the staff have made an enormous impression on us. Their humbleness, quality of service, genuine interest in our wellbeing and genuine smiles which reached their eyes, suggests to us that they are truly happy in their work. This of course doesn’t happen by chance. Happy staff, who are treated fairly and humanely by their employers will always give of their best. This comes down to Management. Atmosphere Kanifushi are fortunate to have a team of managers who are not only visible on a daily basis, but who are approachable and not above themselves. We would often chat with Resort Manager, Sanjay, with his love of motorbikes and his twinkling eyes. The Food and Beverages Manager, Raman TG, has a very keen eye on things and is a man who is accomplished at what he does. Philippe, the General Manager could often be seen around the island, either zipping around on his electric motorcycle, or calling into every restaurant, asking guests if there is anything he or his team can do for you to make your stay the best. A beautiful island is nothing without it’s beautiful staff. This is the reason that we are already making plans, Coronavirus aside, to return to Atmosphere Kanifushi in the very near future. We have made marvellous memories that will last long after our tans have faded. Thank you! David and Gillian Taylor Read less

What can I say that others haven’t already... it really is as the website shows. Accommodation: We had a beach villa, spotlessly clean. Well stocked mini bar which is replenished twice daily - you can even request a wine to suit your taste! Opened our doors to be met with a lovely veranda with chairs & a sofa, which leads straight to the beach, this area is always shaded, you’ll welcome it! You almost have your own beach with beds under an umbrella & beds in full sun - you’re literally feet from the sea. Beach: Soft white sand, clear warm & inviting sea, on occasions there can be sharpe coral so perhaps some water sport shoes. Although you are provided with rubber flip flops. The beach is plentiful so you don’t really see or hear anyone. Restaurants: All fabulous! Even Spice which is the buffet style, very fresh. Worth booking the Sunset, Just Veg & Pier 6 in advance. You have to visit Ceylon Bliss, it’s tucked away & serves Sri Lankan style street food, it’s taster style in small portions - utterly delicious. You’ll have your own PA who will be able to sort anything for you, all done via WhatsApp. Hiring a bike is fun to get around, they’re a little rickety but do the job :) The only down side are the mosquitoes, they’re of the ninja type, you don’t see or hear them but they are there!! You are provided with lotion & a spray for your room - use it! Two pools, one adults only with pool side service & amazing views. Fruit bats to keep you entertained, they’re gorgeous & terrified of the residents Crows! Thank you to Kanifushi & all its staff to making our holiday totally amazing. We’ll be back. Read less

This was our first holiday to Maldives and we selected Atmosphere Kanifushi after a lot of research. And with all the expectations we carried, this place surpassed them easily!!! The resort is a 35-40 minute seaplane ride from Male. We were greeted by the resort staff at the Male airport and from there they took care of our baggage and everything till we check-in at the resort. We were escorted to the seaplane terminal which is about a 10 minute drive. We waited at the Atmosphere Kanifushi lounge for about 30 minutes before our seaplane was ready to board. We stayed for 4 nights – 2 nights each at Beach Villa and Water villa with pool. Both are good and offer a different experience, though I will be tempted to rate the water villa a notch higher. The interiors are majestic and the bathroom is a standout. The rooms provide you with all daily necessities such as sun block cream, mosquito repellent cream, beach slippers, room slippers, universal power socket, etc. The minibar has potato wafers, biscuits, mixed nuts, Toblerone, aerated drinks, mixed fruit juice, sparkling water, beer and 2 bottles of wine (red wine and white wine) – all replenished promptly, though we hardly consumed anything from the minibar. The housekeeping staff is a bunch of lovely people – special mention for Rohit and Amar. The buffet at Spice restaurant was good. We really liked the choice of fruits for breakfast. The Veg restaurant is a highlight, though getting a reservation is difficult. I suggest you make your bookings as soon as you reach the resort. We also loved the Sheesha at the Sunset bar – Kuldeep thanks for all the lovely Sheesha and Ice Teas. When it comes to alcohol you will be spoilt for choices with all the premium liquor and cocktails included in the package. Trust me their all inclusive plan is way better than the others at Maldives. The jetty area is pretty good for snorkelling – we spotted some rare species such as lionfish, etc. and sea anemone, corals. However, the over-water villas do not have a lot of marine life as these are newly built. The sting ray feeding sessions (@ 4.30 pm) were good and my daughter was happy to see them so close. We took a private snorkelling trip to Kuredu island and we saw sea turtles, sting ray and even a grey shark. Also, the complimentary sunset cruise was good – we saw so many dolphins, all coming up close to our boat. The island is pretty huge and there is a lot of walking to do. This can be tiring, especially during the afternoons. They have shuttle service but usually the wait is pretty long. I recommend they increase the shuttle frequency. They have cycles that are available for $ 1 per day, but they need to be better maintained and serviced. We just fell in love with the place and felt 4 days was too short. We wanted to experience the Spa but with so many things to do we missed it. May be on our next trip – we coming here again for sure!!! Read less

Just spent seven nights here to celebrate my wife’s birthday. What an amazing place. Paradise found. Our personal host Lizzie made sure that we gained the maximum from our stay, unobtrusively checking in with us daily to book restaurants, trips etc for us. Raghu also deserves a mention as he looked after us in 3 different restaurants in our last two days catering for our every need! The beaches, sea, and everything else were just perfect. We started our stay in a beach villa, stepping straight out onto pure white sands and into the ocean, with shade from the trees and our personal sunbeds and umbrella. The last two nights we had the chance to upgrade to a water villa, which was incredible, looking at the fish through the glass floor panels, and your own private pool. Only downside of the water villa was lack of shade late afternoon as the sun went down. All food and restaurants were fantastic too. All staff amazing. We will be going back, probably half in a water villa, half in a beach villa, as can’t decide which. Both fantastic. Read less
