Where to begin... before coming we read some negative reviews i honestly do not know how anyone has anything negative to say about Cinnamon Velifushi. Arriving at the hotel it is beautiful and so peaceful! Everything is so nice to look at, it was paradise. We had a sunset villa which was amazing- only downside being the clouds in the evening got in the way of the sunset. We saw so much sealife from our terrace - a sea turtle, dolphins swimming past, an eagle ray, and octopus just to name a few plus so many fish! The food was amazing i was dubious about it having one restaurant but the buffet was great. There were so many options (ignore any reviews that say the food is bland and cold). Our waiter Sharaau was so friendly and attentive, he would remember our drinks and always come and chat to us even when they rotated roles. The pool and bar - amazing! The guys there work hard and are so lovely. The spa as well a treat we had the offer of a massage and facial and it was amazing. We saw sharks up by the dive centre - go around 5pm ish. There ive said it everything at this resort is amazing. The staff are so freindly and leave you wanting for nothing. The bartender in the Hama bar would top your drink up before you'd even thought about it. Didnt want to leave. Major holiday blues Read less

Our room was spacious with high quality furniture and finish. Food was always 10/10 even if you sometimes feel like you've eaten too much already! Special mention to the personal trainer Mihira who is excellent and helped us keep in shape (after drinks and desserts). He organised group sessions for fun stuff like table tennis and work outs on the beach which were awesome and helped us meet other people staying in the hotel. Also a mention to Nishal (Niko) our waiter who was also great company and provided top end service for us at every meal. Overall wonderful stay and would highly recommend the Cinnamon Velifushi! We stayed at the Cinnamon Velifushi for 11 nights in a sunset water villa - and we had such a fantastic time! I would caveat to say that we previously stayed at the Constance Moofushi in the Maldives a few years ago, which is also a five star hotel but materially more expensive and as a result, is a hotel in an entirely different league. However, I think you get what you pay for and we were very happy with the Cinnamon Velifushi and our experience! The hotel itself is fairly new and we spent the majority of our time in our water villa. We loved that all of the villas had hammocks - perfect for watching the sunset! If booking a water villa and it’s possible to put in a request for a room, we would recommend going with a lower number (ie around room 405 or so) as you’ll get a much better view of the sunset (we had a higher number one so the view wasn’t quite as good!). We would also recommend a sunset water villa - they’re a lot more private than the normal water villas because of the longer privacy screens on the decks. Snorkelling is excellent although bringing water shoes is a DEFINITE must as the seabed is VERY rocky. Once you get through the rocky bit and past the reef though, the snorkelling is incredible. We brought our own snorkelling gear - and if you have space in your luggage, we would recommend doing that as renting is expensive. Food was delicious - obviously it gets slightly repetitive after a while but the resort makes a real effort to limit that. We enjoyed the live stations (the pasta is especially good!) and the Indian and Sri Lankan food on offer we also really enjoyed! We also found that drinks were varied and of a decent quality - cocktails are only available at the bars and not in the restaurant although we didn’t find that problematic. As other reviewers have mentioned, there is an ‘all inclusive’ and ‘all inclusive premium’ option at the resort. You get given different wristbands and one of the main differences is the alcohol you get access to. When we booked, the price increase to go premium was significant (so much so that it was a fair amount cheaper to upgrade ourselves to a sunset water villa room instead) so we opted for the normal all inclusive. Unless the price difference is very minimal, we would 100% recommend NOT going with the premium option. The difference in the alcohol is pretty much non existent (for context, the premium wine is Hardys and the normal wine is Berri Estates and you get Bombay Sapphire with premium rather than Gordon’s…). You don’t get wine in your room but it would be a lot cheaper just to order a bottle of wine to the room if that’s the concern. Same for simply paying for an excursion! In general, it would make a lot more sense (and be more enjoyable) for the entire resort to simply be all inclusive without the unnecessary different tiers. The resort give you water bottles when you arrive (which was a really nice touch!) and there are water stations throughout the island. There are also large bottles of water provided in the room, which was great. The only real niggle we had was trying to check out and settle our bill. It’s odd as all of the other staff on the island were very helpful - but trying to find someone to settle our bill was oddly difficult and we kept being told to come back again to the front desk a number of times. Also as a heads up, you can’t include a tip as part of your bill at the end, which we tried to do as we didn’t have any cash. So you will need to bring cash if you’d like to tip. We took the speedboat option rather than the seaplane. If you get easily seasick, the speedboat might not be the best option! On our way to the resort, the water was very calm. However on our way back to the airport, it was basically a rollercoaster ride for an hour and a half as the waters were so choppy! Obviously nothing to do with the hotel itself - but just something to keep in mind when booking. Some of the other reviews mentioned that they had issues with late check out - I think it largely depends on who else is checking in the day you’re leaving but we did get offered late check. Some of the others didn’t get a meal on their last day - we didn’t have this problem but can understand that would be frustrating if we didn’t get fed! Lastly just a special mention to Afu (our waiter who was absolutely lovely), Latif (who cleaned our room and always had a smile on his face!) and Mihira (the personal trainer at the gym) all of who made our time there extra special - so thank you!
