Left this amazing hotel just a couple of hours ago. I Have nothing but good words for this place. The Emerald resort is simply amazing! We were staying at a water villa with pool. I highly recommend this room category!! Waking up to the emerald lagoon every morning was a blessing for my eyes. The villas are huge with a lovely pool and enormous sun deck, all around the rooms are beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean . The bathrooms are huge with a wide spread of toiletries, amenities and coconut white fluffy towels... Loved the simple design where less is more. restaurants are good and you see the executive chefs around very attentive and anticipating all the guest needs. Loved the beach grill for the ambience and the views although at lunch time its very.. sometimes extremely, hot!! the Italian food couldn't be more authentic! Made to. Perfection. Service is top notch!! The highlight of this hotel I believe. Starting from the general manager that greets you personal on arrival and departure. His gentle and relaxed manners and the way he makes every single guest feel valued it's what hospitality should be all about. My housekeeper doing an incredible job everyday while been discreet and polite... The barman at the sunrise bar always smiling... The sommeliers.. The restaurant managers... Everyone! I must say every single person working at this resort deserve a mention and I extend my most sincere gratitude for making my stay the best holidays one could possibly imagine. Special mention to Alessia and the front office department for my last minute surprise where I could have the royal villa as a day use on departure. Grazie mille!! I can't recommend enough this hotel Looking forward to my next stay to experience one more time their natural elegance. Irina. Read less

Food and beverage is of a high quality and there are different types of restaurants to try. Our favourite was the Beach Grill followed by Amazonico. Aqua is a very modern buffet restaurant providing breakfast lunch and dinner. A big thank you to all the staff at Emerald, there are too many to mention and thank, service was excellent and everyone was helpful and attentive. The AI package is the most comprehensive we have come across leaving the guest wanting for nothing! Good luck to all management and staff at the Emerald. Read less

Loved this place! We’re pretty seasoned travellers and have visited many Indian Ocean resorts but this is our favourite thus far. We stayed in a beautiful beach villa with a pool (no 215 gives great privacy) and our lovely and efficient butler Amu arranged a three night stay in a water villa , again with pool, for us. No charge, just a lovely gesture for our 40th wedding anniversary celebrations. And that’s a huge part of the culture of this place. They go out of their way to add that special touch to create lifelong memories for guests. If people are a company’s greatest asset, then this enterprise is asset-rich. From the young teacher who cleaned our beautiful villa, to Ahmed and the guys at the Sunset bar, to Jimmy the talented chef who rustled up delicious steaks at the Amazonico South American restaurant, to the smiling Rifkhan, the attentive JD.... too many to mention alas but all determined to make your day amazing. We ate dinner in the three a la carte restaurants for most of our 11 night stay - Beach Club Grill, Le Asiatique and the aforementioned Amazonico The gala night in Aqua, the main buffet restaurant, was very special with tables placed outside among the trees and the thatched beach shades. Food overall was fab and, as is often the case, you pay a supplement for lobster and some cuts of steak. One special feature for an all inclusive is that each restaurant has a sommelier and only he or she serves you and recommends the wine choices to complement your food order. A big thank you to Nash, Jospeh, Lee and the sparkling Erika who were extremely knowledgeable about the 70 or so wines on the AI list plus the others which were not. The team surprised us with a special anniversary dinner at the Beach Club Grill - the staff there had hollowed out a heart on the beach, added lights and placed our table in the centre. So thoughtful. And a beaming Abbas brought out a gluten free celebration cake...we were quite touched by the genuine delight the team expressed at seeing us so happy! The villas are spacious and beautiful- the beautifully appointed bathrooms are big enough to throw a party in if you were so inclined! In the end we concluded we preferred beach to water villa as an overall experience although the walkway over the ocean was spectacular at night. For the record, all toiletries are L’Occitane. Every villa has wide tyred bikes but there’s also a buggy service. It’s a laid back experience and you can tell the gently spoken manager G M Srikanth has worked hard to get a great team of lovely professionals together and has promoted a can do culture. Overall a beautiful high quality new resort with ambitions to become destination of choice, taking on some of the more established five star islands which litter this beautiful part of the world. Would we return? Absolutely! Read less

My husband and I just visited Emerald Maldives resort Nov. 4 - Nov. 9 to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary. We stayed in a water villa with a pool and it was truly a dream. We were welcomed on arrival at the airport by a hotel employee. She was friendly and took us straight to the seaplane check in. From there we were whisked away by bus to the waiting lounge. We were initially told we would have a 3 hour wait for our seaplane flight. This later was extended to 4.5 hours and we were given the reason that our flight was combined with another one. This was a bit frustrating after traveling for 32 hours. We were exhausted and ready to get to the resort to rest. The lounge is small with very little food (cheese sandwiches) and refreshments. No alcohol since Alcohol is banned except at resorts. Once the wait was over the seaplane ride did not disappoint. A word of caution - it is very warm on the seaplane as it only has fans that turn on once the place reached altitude. You may want to change to cooler clothing while you wait for the seaplane. It was a beautiful view from the plane. The arrival at the resort was splendid. We were greeted by staff and our butler Sawsen. Our butler gave us a tour of the resort and then took us to our villa. Our butler was very friendly. We did encounter a small issue with communication as my husband and I don’t use WhatsApp and this seems to be the preferred way of communicating. WhatsApp is not very popular in the USA. I was unable to set it up because it required text messaging which I didn’t have because I did not have international cell plan on this trip. We finally figured out we could use Facebook messenger. Our butler immediately made reservations for dinner for us at each of the specialty restaurants. This was a nice but if you want to change plans it’s difficult to change reservations. We were not able to communicate much with our butler because she lost her phone in the ocean and could not log in to Facebook. We had a late departure flight. The staff was so kind to let us stay in our villa most of the day prior to departure. Overall our stay was lovely and I would recommend it to anyone. PROS: the resort is beautiful. The design is tropical and modern. The staff is friendly. The villas are a dream. Has privacy and simply breathtaking. There are snacks and a mini fridge with refreshments, champagne and two small bottles of wine. L’Occitane skincare and body care. The beaches are well maintained a beautiful. The gym is great with more equipment than typically seen at most resorts. You get a free excursion when you stay for a week. Non motorized water sports included. CONS: the resort is not 100% all inclusive with food and drinks. If you want room service for breakfast, lunch and dinner you have to pay $50 USD + 20% service fee and tax. Also no spirits in the rooms. We had to pay $114 USD for a bottle of vodka in our villa so we didn’t have to bicycle 5 minutes to the nearest bar to get a drink while enjoying the pool in our villa. The food is just ok. I got scrambled eggs and omelet first few days but couldn’t eat the eggs as they were undercooked all times. I ended up sticking with waffles, french toast and pancakes the rest of the week which were very good. I didn’t walk away blown away from any meal. Like I said food is good just not outstanding. Service was good but not as great as resorts I’ve been to in the Caribbean. We were supposed to have turn down service every night but turn down never occurred the entire time we were there. Also, this is no big deal but we mentioned it was our wedding anniversary to several staff. Yes, we didn’t ask for anything but at other resorts we have been too the staff has always done a little something to help us celebrate like a small cake or snack without us asking. Lastly, the free excursion. This is not a complaint as this was complementary but in the resort book there is a description of each excursion. We did the sunset cruise. The resort book states the cruise includes champagne and snacks. We asked for champagne while on the cruise and we were told there was none. Perhaps an update to the resort book is warranted if no champagne is going to be given. I would have been extremely disappointed if I had paid for the cruise. As far as nightlife there isn’t much. And honestly we didn’t expect much entertainment. There is some music in the evening at the main bar and a DJ. The villas were gorgeous but one thing that we noted was the deck stairs to the water was extremely slimy. This made getting in and out of the water difficult and could cause injury. I think it would be beneficial to clean the algae off the stairs and deck on a regular basis. Tips: the resort has bicycles of all sizes. Ask for a bicycle that fits if the ones at your villa are not the right size. If you drink American coffee with cream ask for warm milk so your coffee doesn’t get cold. You don’t have to tip but I suggest tipping the staff a couple bucks here and there. Download and set up WhatsApp before you go so you can communicate with your butler. Thursday night all the restaurants are closed because of a Gala dinner at the buffet restaurant. It can get crowded so make sure you arrive early if you want to be seated at a specific location. We highly recommend Emerald Resort - a new resort in the beautiful Maldives. We celebrated my wife's birthday and our anniversary. We travel to many resorts every year and can honestly say that this resort was one of the very best. Service wise - the very best. Our room (Jacuzzi Water Villa) was beautiful and so spacious. Our butler Amu was so helpful. Managers and general workers were incredibly friendly and always willing to assist. Everything was great, except our "special dinner" - we were not asked what was on the menu and unfortunately, we didn't eat 75% of the food served. It was also served cold as kitchen was far away from the beach. However, we left extremely satisfied and were ready to book for the same resort for next year. We are sure that after a year of trading experience, this hotel will be 7 stars. Read less
