We were staying in a water villa. The experience is awesome. Their restaurants are fantastic. All are very nice. The best part of everything as they had a surprise for us on our anniversary day. Not just the cake at our villa :) which we guessed. It was much more than that. They arranged a beachside dinner for us and the arrangement is breathtaking (some pics attached). That's possibly the best ever feeling we had in our life. All set up was on the beach under the moonlight with beautiful lights. Chef Benny made our fav Italian and Indian for us, that was based on our request. Thanks so much, Chef Benny for all those lovely food. Thanks, KD for all the set up who arranged everything. And last but not the least Afsar, who was there for us always whenever we needed him. A place which you can't afford to ignore. Remember to take a seaplane to reach there. That experience is just out of the world. Read less

Well, I normally do not write long comments following my trips but in this case I have to make an exception. Everything at Emerald Maldives is perfect. The Staff’ courtesy puts you at ease on every occasion. Literally everyone from the gardeners to the waiters is available and polite. A special mention to the Chefs Aldo and Benny who were so kind to organize a private kitchen lesson for us, with a focus on local/Indian cuisine. We stayed in a water villa with pool. Great choice!! Large bed and impressive bathroom. You can wake up and simply dive into the Lagoon’s warm water. I think I would have enjoyed a beach villa too: the white sand and crystal clear water are inviting and the accommodations are perfectly nested among tropical vegetation. Minibar is always full and complimentary (!!) but most of all, food served within the 4 restaurant is really great. This is a special thing, ‘cause very often food quality in tropical resort is questionable. This is totally not the case at Emerald. French rosé wine, sushi, grilled lobster, reef fish tartare, fresh yellowfin tuna... simply perfect (said from an Italian!). We also enjoyed few excursions: I would totally recommend the “swim with turtles” and the “desert island”. Finally, the SPA must be mentioned too. Therapists are very well prepared and we particularly appreciated the intimacy and silence of each cabin. You can take a shower there at the end of the day and then sneak into your cabin for a relaxing massage to relieve sunburns. Once you are staying there, there’s a very convenient app you can download to navigate through the resort: map, activities, restaurant or spa booking, ... Very well designed and conceived! Do not hesitate!!!! Read less

Having returned from Emerald on Monday after spending a week there for our honeymoon, i can't put into words how much we'd love to return! The resort is true paradise on Earth and i can't rate it highly enough. The communal facilities are all exceptional, especially the stunning pool are and restaurants. Our room (a water villa) was everything that we'd hoped for, and the images simply don't do it justice. The food was fantastic, and we particularly enjoyed the a la carte restaurants. It didn't feel right having a meal that good and then getting up and walking away without having to pay! A small suggestions would be to provide some sort of hand washing bowl when serving the absolutely delicious prawns. The ladies in the spa were delightful and our couples massage was one of the best that we've ever had. A perfect start to our holiday! We'd like to give a few individual shoutouts, but i should add that EVERY single member of staff that we encountered were a delight. Amu (our room host): Super welcoming and always eager to assist. A small issue we had with our room was dealt with exceptionally and within a couple of hours. Thanks go to the Front Office Manager Ra on that one too! Amu really is a credit to your resort. Joseph (Sommelier): One of the happiest, friendliest and most engaging people that we've ever met. His knowledge and the service he provided really was first class! Main barman @ Sunset Bar: Excuse us for not getting this gentleman's name, but he really was so charming and a pleasure to meet. His cocktails were exceptional to say the least, and would expect to pay circa £15 each for them in a London bar! Read less

Emerald was our choice of Maldivian resort after many months of research. Having been on my Bucket List for years I wanted to ensure as far as possible that it ticked all/as many boxes as possible within our budget. With regard to budget I have to admit to upping it two or three times as I researched further and saw what was on offer. It is hard to talk about value for money with this type of holiday and I will never be able to say how it compared to other options in the end (both cheaper and more expensive are available), but it met all our expectations of our dream holiday. I literally had a spreadsheet of 130+ resorts and all the ratings, sizes, number of restaurants, level of AI package etc etc to help me narrow down. I had some must-have requirements which were: option of a water villa, arrive by seaplane, medium/large island with beach you could ideally walk around, choice of several inclusive al-La-carte restaurants, premium all-inclusive inc minibar, a bath with a view and a house reef that was accessible for an average swimmer/snorkeller. An added bonus would have been adults-only but this proved hard to come by along without sacrificing some of the other things. And of course within a budget..... I narrowed down to around 6 resorts and then worked with Angelfish Travel to select the one. Initially I was a little concerned that Emerald was so new but the first reviews were outstanding so we made our decision based on a gut feeling and some positive comments from Angelfish who had visited. Lots of reviews have gone into detail about the seaplane arrival, the welcome, etc so I can only agree that these are a great start to the holiday. Our a Villa Host was Zayan who had been on the island around a month. He was knowledgeable and efficient and often checked in with us throughout the two weeks and sorted the odd (very small) issues we had, thank you ! Throughout the whole stay we felt like royalty, all the staff know your name and greet you politely and warmly and nothing is too much trouble. Everyone has a smile from the gardeners to the bar staff, clearly they have a great team. It seems to us that the staff are well-treated and happy in their work which reflects in their faces and manner. It was good to hear about some of the extra activities laid on for the staff to keep them engaged and entertained as I have no doubt it could be a lonely life separate from their families for periods of time. It is hard to single out some staff as they were all exceptional, but for us the ones we got to know that made it that bit more special (I hope I remember and spell correctly) were: Zayan, our villa host for his efficient service Lahteef the manager in Amazonico along with his team Myra from Aqua who looked after us every breakfast, her lovely smile started the day just right Asir from Aqua who was always checking we were ok, along with the whole team Ahmed from Sunrise Bar, a lovely man Ali from Sunset Bar, knows exactly what you want Zaheen (I hope that’s right!) the buggy driver who loved to talk about football The whole sommelier team lead by the lovely Nash who went out of his way to make sure we always had something special. The other three in the team are all different characters but equally as knowledgeable and it was a lovely part of any meal to be served by and speak to Joseph, Erica and Lee. KD is the lovely Food & Beverage Manager, and one of the senior team that ensures your holiday is perfect, and beyond. Thank you to you, and all your great team! Raj is the Reservation/Front Office Manager and clearly very professional and experienced. In terms of the accommodation the quality and size of the villas is outstanding. We had a week in a beach villa with pool, followed by a week in a water villa with pool. We really loved both, the water villa probably just wins due to the wow factor and the views, but we loved being able to wander from our beach villa up and down the beach with ease. The food in all restaurants was outstanding. I pre booked every evening a few weeks before we went. Not something I would normally do as we prefer to see what we feel like on the day. Having read some visitor reviews that mentioned they couldn’t always make the reservation they wanted on the day and mostly dinner reservations were pre-booked by your villa host, I preferred to have control of this so I pre-planned and asked our travel agents to book with the resort which all went smoothly. Just be aware that usually one of the al-la-cartes closes each evening so our villa host had juggled a couple of the bookings to take this into account. The inclusive drinks were extensive, I’ve never drunk so much champagne and my husband his favourite Grey Goose vodka. The 70+ wine list is great, we tried many that were outside our usual choices and can honestly say they were all very very nice. I don’t really have much of a benchmark but for me the reef snorkelling was great. Easily accessible in certain places (probably only 25 meters from the beach opposite Aqua restaurant) with plentiful colourful fish of all shapes and sizes. The coral is bleached so not so pretty, but I think that is typical of the Maldives and many other areas of the world. A little tip is to hire a GoPro underwater camera from the Dive Centre ($35 for half-day ) If you don’t have one of your own - the quality of the photos/videos is high and the camera easy to use. Snorkelling is very popular, many guests every day, so it was a little disappointing that those guests didn’t turn up to help out at the Beach/Reef Clean-Up session held on the 3rd March. To recognise World Wildlife Day the resident Marine Biologist Georgia gave a presentation to highlight the challenges faced by our planet, particularly our oceans, which ended with the clean-up session. I was one of only two guests who took part, the rest were resort staff (kudos to them!!). I know people are on holiday but it’s nice to give a little back, so shame on you! Anyway thanks to Georgia and the staff that took part, a great example of teamwork and pride in your place of work, a handshake from me! Towards the end of our stay there was an incident with an Englishman who needed hospital treatment. It’s not my place to go into details but I can say that the response from the resort management seemed to be outstanding and very reassuring. It’s always a worry, particularly when you’re a little bit older, that you might fall ill whilst on holiday particularly somewhere quite remote, but if it was to happen here at Emerald I would think you would be in the very best hands. I hope the gentleman has a good recovery. This trip was meant to be a once-in-a-lifetime holiday, a tick off the bucket-list, and it was absolutely everything I thought it would be, and more. We rarely go back anywhere, as the world is a big place, but I left a piece of my heart at Emerald so who knows we might have to go back for it ......... As I write this the world is in the midst of the Coronovirus, which I’m sure is devastating the tourist industry. I hope that all at a Emerald stay safe and healthy, and when we all come out of this at the other side that the resort is able to recover and continue to grow from strength to strength as it so deserves. Thanks and love to all at Emerald x Read less
