We visited Kurumba in April which is the end of the season, however the weather was superb and very hot and sunny with an occasional warm downpour. As a family with three children aged 6-10, the deluxe family pool villa was amazing, a few steps from our own quiet stretch of beach. Watching sharks glide by before breakfast was an experience we will never forget. What really made our experience so special was the staff, who were without exception amazing. So attentive, and always going the extra mile, for example a hair braid at breakfast, impromptu napkin folding lessons, flaming onion volcanos at the teppen yaki (must be seen to be believed!) We can’t thank the staff enough for making us feel so welcome! The activities were great, water sports easily accessible, and free loan of snorkel gear meant everyone could easily get involved in enjoying the reef. We saw so much sea life including sharks, rays, turtles, and our personal favourite the mysterious sea cucumbers which seemed to sneak up on us… Top tips 1) Watch the sunset over a cocktail at one of the two cute beach bars 2) Have fresh coconut water, served from the coconut itself with ice and a straw 3) Eat at Thila seafood restaurant and dine on decking above the sharks and rays 4) Pack factor 50 sunscreen, it is intense 5) Take a snorkel lesson and explore the reef 6) Grab a pizza and Pina colada by the pool 7) Enjoy an evening outdoor private shower with L’Occitane products while the fruit bats circle overhead 8) Pack full-face snorkels, the kids (and we) loved these 9) Pack water shoes, the coral can be sharp We chose Kurumba as it was a short boat ride from the airport, but the resort has so much more to recommend it. As the first ever Maldives resort island, they know what they are doing. Thank you Kurumba for a wonderful stay! Read less

Very wonderful stay. And makes one fill one with the ocean and its aquatic habitat. The staffs are super friendly, always eager to aid and joyfully regale us about Maldives, especially Pranay and Samir that works at Thil Restaurant. Maldives is definitely a must visit if you want to escape from the usual and drench yourself in the extraordinary.

This was our third visit to this wonderful island (2019 and 2000 previously) and it was as fabulous as ever. As other reviewers have said, it is the staff who make this island the magical place that it is and particular thanks must go to Sanjith at Athiri and Akter and Ferdaus at Kandu. I am not ashamed to admit that we both shed a tear as we left, but we will be back, hopefully soon. Thank you Team Kurumba! Read less

The most unfortunate thing about my stay was that it was work-related, as we had a meeting in Male’. Everything else was really divine. Only a few minutes’ boat ride from the airport, this island resort is just perfect for relaxation. The welcome was amazing. We loved the coconut ice cream so much that we asked for seconds, and the staff were so gracious. Everything on this island was designed to let you experience natural beauty. The music at the reception was intentionally kept very low and the greenery was beautifully intact. Our rooms (217, 2019 and 302) had balconies that faced the water. The odd numbered rooms were located on upper floors. There was a huge bed, a day bed, and on the balcony, a two seater cafe table plus a day bed. The bathroom was semi-open. You can choose to shower in the open area or in an enclosed booth or have a bath. L’Occitane shampoo, shower gel and lotion left a wonderful scent. The walk-in dresser area had plenty of storage, where you could find a safe, a life jacket, flashlight, iron and ironing board, flip flops (yes! Loved it!). The tea area had the usual tea plus ground coffee for the French Press. Oh, Umbrellas and beach towels are also standard so we didn’t need to call anyone. The entire island was quiet. We didn’t hear anything else except for the wind and the waves. Room service was great. All the staff were friendly and efficient. Breakfast was decent and offered good options. Read less
