The hotel

Where is it

Located on the island of Thilamaafushi, in Lhaviyani Atoll, one of the Maldives’ smaller and underdeveloped atolls. Transfer time from Malé International Airport: 35 minutes by seaplane (remember to pack light for the seaplane transfer as luggage allowance is 20kg plus 5kg hand luggage, per person).

134 well-appointed guest villas, featuring unparalleled views across the whitewashed beaches, the Indian Ocean or turquoise lagoon. All with air-conditioning, tea/coffee-making facilities, iron and ironing board, mini fridge, safe, bathrobe, separate shower and tub, hair dryer, bathroom amenities, smart TV, and complimentary WiFi access. Beach Villas are 82 sqm featuring direct beach access, outdoor bathroom, and 1 king-size bed, sleeping maximum 2 adults and 2 children.

Half Board option: includes daily breakfast buffet at Turquoise. Dinner, choice of daily theme dinner buffet or a 3-course set menu served at Turquoise (set menu only when buffet is not available), 3-course set menu at Velaa Bar + Grill or 3-course set menu at Riviera Tapas.

Full Board option: includes daily breakfast buffet at Turquoise. Lunch, choice of Turquoise (only when the restaurant is open), 3-course set menu at Velaa Bar + Grill and 3-course set menu at Riviera Tapas. Dinner, choice of daily theme dinner buffet or a 3-course set menu served at Turquoise (set menu only when buffet is not available), 3-course set menu at Velaa Bar + Grill or 3-course set menu at Riviera Tapas.

Drinks: unlimited consumption of non-alcoholic beverages from the beverage list served in the above-mentioned outlets, only during mealtime (breakfast, lunch or dinner), and to be consumed in the outlets only. Mini-bar - non-alcoholic beverage and snacks replenished once per day.

All-Inclusive option: includes daily breakfast buffet at Turquoise. Lunch, choice of Turquoise (only when the restaurant is open), Waves Café, Velaa Bar + Grill, Riviera Tapas and Riviera Bar. Dinner, choice of daily theme dinner buffet or a 3-course set menu served at Turquoise (set menu only when buffet is not available), 3-course set menu including weekly theme nights at Velaa Bar + Grill, 3-course set menu including weekly theme nights at Riviera Tapas & Bar, 3-course set menu at Tabemasu including weekly theme nights (only when the restaurant is open), Teppanyaki dinner at Tabemasu available - once every 4 days (with advance reservations and only when the restaurant is open).

Room upgrades

Beach Garden Pool Villas feature an open-air bathroom, private pool, and direct beach access from the patio, with 1 king-size bed, sleeping maximum 3 adults.

Beach Pool Villas are the same as above, with a pool located at the front of the villa.

Overwater Villas with pools have either sunrise or sunset views, private pool, and direct lagoon access. The bedroom has 1 king-size bed, sleeping maximum 3 adults.

Two Bedroom Beach Pool Villas feature direct beach access with a private pool, two bedrooms each with 1 king-size bed or 1 king-size bed and twin beds, and an open-air bathroom, sleeping maximum 6 people.

Starting from the most welcoming atmosphere over the friendliness of all individuals on the island. Simply stunning! Despite the weather which was not always perfect we could do so many activities. We live the turtle snorkeling, tru scuba and desert island experience by Jetski. The service given by Nuttey was phenomenal. Food was great everywhere as well and we mainly dinned at Turquoise and the Tappas Restaurant. What I have to highlight is the proactiveness of the chefs to cater for special demands and literally bring you small signature dishes from your home or anywhere else of the world on your table! We would like to extend our special thanks to Thomas, Assaf, Nuttey, Pyng, Iris, Magga, Dudu, Vanessa, Jessica, Mauch, Maduri, Faith, Ari, Rishab, Devin and would like to apologize for all those who I forgot... Maldives was on our bucket list to travel to. My first experience taking the seaplane, 35mins ride from MLE. The welcome that we received once we reached the resort was spectacular. We were upgraded to the sunset overwater villa, initially booked the sunrise overwater villa, it was much appreciated, being able to sit outside on the platform to watch the sunset. Booked a table at Tabemasu for dinner to celebrate my birthday and the staff in Tambemasu were lovely, creating such wonderful memories for us. We were the only table at the veranda, it was truly a private dining experience with the sunset as the backdrop, although the wind was not very kind to us. My poor server - Ali baba was fighting a losing battle in trying to Light the candle for my birthday cake. We visited all the 5 restaurants in the resort - Turquoise, Velaa, Riviera, Tabemasu and Waves over the week. If we had to choose which restaurant was our favourite, it was a tough fight between Velaa and Tabemasu, not forgetting Waves (we were there everyday for lunch) not because of the healthy choice of meals, but more for the lovely in-house Barista - Sanal. His passion towards coffee was such a delight, sharing his knowledge and even coming up with daily special drinks just for us. That was personalised service with a heart. The couples massage at the spa was also so relaxing, looking at the fish swimming by. We loved the walks to and fro from our villa to the restaurants. There wasn't a need for buggy service as we took pleasure in strolling around the resort. Each staff that we met over the course of the stay added a special memory to the trip. If I were to summarise it, it was like having a little family on the resort that you look forward to seeing, be it for breakfast, lunch and dinner, these relationships built over such a short time were truly precious. Interactions with GM Thomas and Executive Chef Asaf was intimate and engaging during the cocktails get together by the beach for marriot elite members as well. Saying goodbye was hard, I have never felt so emotional, seeing the lovely staff waving goodbye from the jetty while we were taking off in the seaplane. Le Meridien was the perfect resort for us to spend our honeymoon. The beach and over water villas had the most amazing views. Great options of food through in house restaurants and very helpful staff especially Mr. Ali who had been most accommodating throughout our trip.
