Image of the Tripadvisor rating Helengeli is a wonderful island for divers and all other guests!

Helengeli is a wonderful island in Kaafu Atoll with the most friendly staff and best food. The house reef is colourful and full of fish, turtles, small sharks and offers plenty of variety. As all inclusive island the guests get high-level value for the price! We have been here as a family for 5 times and would come back again every time!

Any praise I give this resort will never be enough. We had the most fabulous holiday here. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff. Honestly, every single person who passes you, whether on a bike or in a cart, or just walking past, has a smile and a greeting. They are so friendly and so personable. Special mentions go to Binod, who made the best eggs in the morning; Ahsan, for his wonderful food and friendly greetings; Dulun, Thiha and Wita behind the bar - amazing cocktails served with a smile always; Robert, with his delicious rolls at lunch; Chandra for making delicious noodles for us; Rajat at Raga Route; and our wonderful housekeeping friend, Khan. There are many, many more, but I didn't write all their names down. Your staff are a credit to you, Oblu - I hope you treat them all well. The snorkelling at Helengeli is second to none. It's spoiled us. Where else can you walk into the water from the beach, swim out a few metres and be faced with the most wonderful sealife? We saw sharks everyday, but nothing you need to be scared of - trust me. I was really scared at first, but by the end of the trip I was disappointed if it looked like I wouldn't see a shark! We saw a turtle everyday, often more than once. Wonderful, majestic creatures. I spent some time interacting with an octopus one day - that was an experience to remember. And so many, many, many colourful fish all around you, all the time. Snorkelling everyday in Helengeli really soothes the soul. I will say here that we paid to go on a snorkelling trip to see turtles. Honestly, save your money and just snorkel on the house reef. The boat trip was quite long and the reef we went to was disappointing. Yes, we saw four turtles, but we saw turtles everyday on our house reef anyway. It was a long way to go for 45 minutes in the way, and then the long trip back. We definitely had more fish and interesting things to look at in Helengeli. The trip was nice, but I won't bother to do it again. The food here is *chef's kiss* delicious! Lots of Indian and Chinese offerings, as well as European food. Everything was always delicious. We looked forward to every meal. There are two other restaurants, but I wasn't that bothered about eating at the others because there was always so much variety in the main restaurant and I was worried about missing something good if we didn't eat there one day! The spa is excellent! We had a couple of massages and they were amazing. Very relaxing and very professional staff. The shop is well stocked, but very expensive. I guess it's to be expected when there is no other option and everything is imported in. Sunscreen is eye-wateringly expensive, so make sure you pack an extra bottle with you. The pool area is lovely, with plenty of loungers and always cold water available to help yourself. The bar is right next to the pool, and they made the best iced tea and iced coffee to keep us cool. There's also a popcorn machine, so you've got a constant supply of salty popcorn when you feel a bit peckish. Evening entertainment is absolutely superb. There was a Cuban couple singing almost every night and they were amazing. It was such a pleasure to sit in the bar every evening, enjoying a drink, a shisha, and singing along to their songs. Helengeli is small, but perfect. We didn't stay in a water villa, and to be honest, we have no desire to stay in one. They're set out a little further away and we prefer to be nearer the restaurant, bar and pool. Our room was spacious and well stocked. There was always plenty of bottled water, and Khan was happy to oblige when I asked for an extra couple of bottles. The room and bathroom was spotless every day. Stay the way you are, Helengeli. You're perfect! Read less

A highly recommended place, good food but the best of all the staff they have. especially Shau, Rahish, Bagush as well as the girl at the food reception. It's a shame we haven't had good weather. We hope to return one day.
