To speak about our trip and hotel: 1. The shuttle was perfectly organized. 20 minutes we flew by plane of domestic airlines, then 10 minutes by boat. 2. Meeting was perfect&check-in was very fast. 3. The island is green and quite big. 4. Food was great, even our child enjoyed it ( he has specific tastes in food,it's difficult to feed him). 5. Cleaning twice a day. 6. Unfortunately, we were not warned that we should wear special shoes while swimming. On the second day !! of our rest, I very badly cut my big toe (lacerated wound). I was very scared that the blood did not stop and thought that I would be sent to Male .. To my great happiness, there is a super specialist on the island, Dr. Abdelrahman who put 7 stitches on the wound. Every day he did the dressings and chose the right medicine that helped avoid the infection. I am very grateful to Dr. Abdelrahman for his qualified help. Thanks to him, my injury did not spoil the vacation for me and my family. All in all,I hope we'll return to Royal Island to have such great experience one more time! Read less

Everything was extra we were all inclusive excursions were a total rip off paragliding for 15mins over $200 jet ski over $200 for 15 mins. An al a carte restaurant that was empty EVERY night too expensive 2 snorkel masks $100. The only shop was totally over priced and the service in the shop was very frosty to say the least. The spa was also well overpriced they are out pricing themselves out of the market and taking advantage of people visiting their island. Love the Maldives but would go back to a different island. Go with caution and a large bank balance. Food was very poor .... shame beautiful island ☹️ Read less

We arrived exhausted from Newcastle after a couple of delayed flights but as soon as we touched down in the Maldives the Royal Island staff took over immediately. Forget your bags, here's some water, don't worry about another thing! True to their word, our experience from start to finish was incredible. We were whisked off to get on the speedboat, a glorious short trip that passes by beautiful deserted islands and we were met by a line of staff on arrival. They took care of everything, filled out our forms and gave us fresh coconuts filled with coconut water to revive us. The bags were put straight in our beach villa and within minutes our dream holiday had begun. There is absolutely NOTHING that my husband and I could find fault with during our holiday. We have been all over the place on many, many holidays but none of them exceeded our expectations like this one. EVERY member of staff you come across on the island will greet you with a smile. The spacious room was cleaned several times a day, water refreshed, towels replaced frequently, bed super comfortable and aircon kept it cool all day. Open air bathroom a real treat and very exotic and spa-like. The buffet food was excellent quality, very interesting, different every day, fresh, barbequed meat and fish and the healthy options of shooters, smoothies, salads was vast and incredible. The snorkelling is breath-taking, like swimming in an exotic fish tank, they have free canoes and snorkels to borrow, trips to swim with turtles and feed sharks. Honestly everything about the place, including the spa which is a MUST, is magical and fantastic. Well done the managers for running such a brilliant resort. We will be back but next time with our children. We hadn't realised what a family friendly resort it is with so much for children to do! Read less

Love the place and will go back! And I am a difficult customer!! We arrived exhausted from Europe and found we had bungalows far away from the kids bungalow and not on the sunset side of the island. I was disappointed but the staff found more than one option to solve the problem. So the next day we were settled in our wonderful beach villas and made the most of the stay! Highlights: the amazing easy snorkeling around the island, the excursions, the food, the spa and massages, the kindness of the staff, the good vibe at all time. Our daughter needed a doctor and there was one who solved her problem in no time. And of course the great hotel manager making it all possible! Thank you all! Our son’s 18th birthday couldn’t have been better! Read less

Even before we had arrived at Royal Island we knew this was a good choice. Both our booking agent and ourselves had emailed in advance with fairly specific room requests and notification of a food allergy and the responses were swift and positive. The island requires both plane and boat rides from Malé but that was part of the charm – and we got a warm welcome from the staff. They made my daughter's birthday on arrival day feel very special, with 'towel art' and flowers in the beach villa and a cake, presented by the restaurant team. The head chef and the hotel manager both came to our table several times during the week to discuss the food allergy and offer alternatives if required. Our waiter and room boy were very attentive and all staff were smiling and polite throughout. Our requested room (201) gave us a bit of garden, a wide beach and great access to the house reef and the drop-off beyond, making snorkelling easy and rewarding. Full-board worked well, drinks were no pricier than I would have expected and the buffet offered lots of options. We appreciated fresh beach towels each morning on our veranda, additional towels by the pool and even opening up the shop for us when it was closed as well as a late room check-out. From the gym to organised trips and scuba diving (another good experience) there's lots to do. Royal Island was great value for money with attentive and kind staff, a stunning setting, good accommodation, varied food options and plenty to see and do. Read less
