The hotel

Famous for the continuous white sand beach surrounding the entire island, Sun Siyam Iru Fushi is an idyllic setting for romantic and family trips alike. The 52 acre island allows for space and seclusion when you want it, but there are plenty of bars and restaurants with a great atmosphere and live music, when you’re ready for an upbeat evening. Whichever room type you opt for, you won’t be disappointed. Sunset Horizon Water Villas are great for couples getaways – savour that Maldivan sunset each day from your private outdoor jacuzzi with a sundowner in hand, these are some of the most coveted accommodations on the island. If there’s a group of you, you might want to opt for a Pool Beach Villa, with ample space for outdoor drinks on the beachfront terrace and a dip in the private pool. If you’re feeling active then there’s plenty to keep you on your feet, from watersports to tennis, or for a more relaxing activity then visit the award winning spa for a treatment, the kids will be well looked after in the kids’ club whilst you get some much needed “me time”. And it’s hard to know where to start when it comes to dining, from casual snacks by the pool to teppanyaki at your table, overwater champagne bar to beachfront fine dining, they have it all. You may even just fancy a pizza in the comfort of your villa, no requests is too big!

What an amazing stay we’ve just had in the Maldives staying at Iru Fushi in a water villa. From the moment we arrived to the day we left, we were ably looked after by a Butler (Ismail) - he has really taken care of us, nothing has been too much trouble. He booked us in all the restaurants and on the nights there was a bit of rain, he’s taken us in the ‘golf buggy’ and brought us back. The transitions were perfect, he completed all the paperwork for us we needed which included checking us in on our arrival and escorting us back to the sea plane for our flight home. I’d also like to give praise to the man that cleaned our villa twice per day (Reefath). He worked really hard, when there was a bit if water from the nightly rain, he wiped down the chairs and loungers, putting towels out for us. On our last night he decorated the bed with palm leaves and bamboo shoots (belated birthday) -it was amazing. Also the restaurant on our last night presented me with a cake which was so kind. Everything was perfect. The lovely, happy ‘can’t do enough for you’ staff, the superb food, the surroundings which are perfect, and the cleanliness -it truly was an exceptional week. I can’t recommend it highly enough. Well worth a visit to this fabulous place Read less

Surely you can’t get closer to a paradise island than this. Peaceful, tranquil, serene - as soon as we stepped off the seaplane all worries just floated away on that warm crystal clear water. And so it continued throughout the ten days with the greatest decision to be made being where shall we go to eat - and even then we had Corinne our star butler to help with that. The white sand covered paths (no roads) run through beautiful planting, constantly tended by the gardeners- lovely smiling people. Our walk to the restaurants got slower and slower as we relaxed into a pace of life we just aren’t used to. What to do? Do we swim in the sea, read by the infinity pool overlooking the beach, go on an excursion to a neighbouring island ( don’t miss this) or have a go at paddle boarding , snorkelling or kayaking? And after that, how about a treatment in the spa followed by cocktails and impromptu dancing on the beach with live music against a stunning sunset? Decisions, decisions…. The staff at all levels really care. There is no exception - and you get an opportunity to chat to a lot of them at the ‘management cocktail party’ which was fabulous. We had a deluxe beach villa (no pool) on the sunset side of the island - which we thought had the slightly better beaches. The villas with pools are on the sunrise side. It is possible that this side of the island is windier. The choice of excellent restaurants is just right - something for everyone. We are pleased we went for all inclusive as prices are extremely high if you pay as you go. All inclusive takes that concern away. The villas are very dark inside even with all lights on and a little dated now but everything you need is there and our excellent housekeeper Faisal looked after us so well. IF I were to change anything I would ask the Spa to stop their representative bothering guests at breakfast, but it’s a minor issue. Mosquitoes and sand flies can be a nuisance if you react badly to their bites so go prepared. The island is fogged twice a week to minimise them (a sight in itself. We wondered what was happening!) If you’re looking for a holiday to just chill out and completely relax in the most stunning scenery, this has got to be it. Read less
