My wife and I stayed in an overwater aqua villa for 4 nights in early April. We were incredibly impressed with the absolute beauty of the island Sun Siyam Vilu Reef is located on. The overwater bungalow sits on about 4 feet of water, which is perfect for swimming around the villas and seeing some fish (and young black tip reef sharks) swimming around. The water is unbelievably clear and calm. The villa was exceptional, facing the sunset and having a pool made it that much more comfortable. Some more positives of this resort: - Provide snorkels and fins for your use through your whole stay free of charge. - Provide one hour free kayak, paddle board etc per day. - The snorkelling on the reef side of the island is INCREDIBLE, I’m not sure why this isn’t advertised more. My wife and I went snorkelling at least twice a day. We saw turtles, eagle rays, sharks and a ton of fish and beautiful coral. - The beaches are pristine, well kept and perfect for swimming. - The sea planes were coordinated to perfection, allowing us a late checkout to catch a later flight to work better for our next speedboat transfer. A couple notes on the dining: - We opted for the bed and breakfast package, which did not include lunch, dinner or drinks. - The included breakfast buffet was 11/10, an amazing selection of food and such a nice place to eat, overlooking the water. - For lunch, you have three options (or room service as a 4th option), the spice restaurant (Italian for lunch and Indian for dinner), well done restaurant (steak and seafood) and the buffet. For the bed and breakfast package, lunch had a set menu at spice and well done ($77 USD/person). Or you have the buffet at the aqua restaurant ($57 USD/person). We just opted for room service where you have an a la carte menu for whatever small plates you wish. - For dinner, you again have the three options, however, the well done and spice restaurants offer a la carte selections, so you’re able to choose what you want instead of a set menu which works out to around $90 USD/person. The a la carte menu is much more reasonable. The aqua buffet was also very good for dinner, having different theme nights but maintaining some regular options ($67 USD/person). - Alcoholic drinks were not included but we found them to be reasonable ($5USD for draft beer, $10-15USD for a cocktail). - At the end of our stay, we paid about $850 USD for 4 nights which included all our lunches, dinners and drinks along with some extra tips. We didn’t have many alcoholic drinks. Whatever the math works out to for whether you believe the all inclusive is worth it but we were happy with our decision of the bed and breakfast option. Some staff that made our stay memorable: - Vijay at the Aqua Buffet was always so personable, waiting on us with the highest level of service. Wes loved our chats with him every morning and sometimes for dinner. - Habeeb, our housekeeper, kept our room to highest standard and we appreciated all his hard work. - Dina, our host, responded to all our messages and coordinated a lovely stay for us. Some recommendations for the resort: - When you arrive (or before) try to book reservations to the well done and spice restaurants. When we arrived, the app said that both restaurants were entirely booked for all four nights. We had to work with Dina to try and get us into the restaurants one time each. In my opinion, the resort should have more availability if they are going to offer these restaurants as an option to guests. - The resort does a decent job of providing information on ingredients in food, but fail to list key ingredients which may have allergies. My wife is allergic to peanuts and we ordered the red Thai curry for room service. The menu did not list that the curry had a peanut sauce on it and she had to visit the medical center (located on the resort which is handy) and get an injection. Overall we had an incredible time and can’t think of a better resort which literally has everything you can ask for from a paradise point of view. Thank you Sun Siyam! Read less

This resort is excellent in every way. The accomodation, the staff and the food are all superb. On our arrival, we were greeted by Niyaaf our island host who escorted us to the Nautilus bar where we had a welcome drink and were able to take in the island views. He then showed us to our water villa giving us a guided tour of the island en route. Upon arrival to our water villa our luggage had already been delivered and our bed was decorated with a welcome greeting. Niyaaf was fantastic throughout our stay! He was always available over WhatsApp 24/7 and answered all our queries and requests promptly. He helped us to book our meals at the a la carte restaurants as well as excursions and offered top tips of how to make the most of our time at the island. We stayed in water villa 415 which was very well appointed with a direct view of the ocean facing the rising sun. There are numerous 13A UK sockets throughout the room so there was no need for adaptors. Another wonderful touch is the provision of a lifejacket per person in the room for use when snorkelling. The water villa was kept exceptionally tidy and clean by Habib who provided us with the best service we have ever had. He came twice a day to check we had everything we required and replaced anything we desired, including the mini bar which was included in our all-inclusive package. He truly is a credit to the resort. The maintenance team are all fantastic too! We reported a light out on the water villa walkway late one night and by the following morning it had been repaired. We have never been anywhere with such fast service. There are several restaurants to chose from. We ate at the Spice, Welldone, and the Aqua during our stay. The Spice and Welldone need to be booked and are a la carte however, we had no issues in booking these. We ate all other meals at the Aqua, which is their excellent buffet restaurant with a wide variety of foods. Chefs were also very happy to cook anything you request which you are unable to find at the buffet; special thanks to Sandeep. If you have any dietary requirements or food allergies they are very happy to oblige and I would fully recommend this resort if that is something you would require. There are also live cooking stations at this restaurant which further opened up the food options. All the staff we encountered at the restaurants were excellent. We were mainly looked after by Viru, Manita, Vijay and Ayman who were all fabulous at their jobs and made us feel so welcome. They are a credit to this resort. Chefs and management made regular appearances at the table to check that we were happy with our stay and that the food was to our liking. As someone who has visited the Maldives previously, one thing that I was very pleased with was the ability to make a full English breakfast, including pork bacon, each morning. The variety and quality of the curries at all meal times was fantastic as well as the cakes/patisseries and fruits. The reef is incredible and within a few metres of the shore you can encounter wonderful varieties of fish and coral. During our stay we encountered a variety of rays, small black tip reef sharks (very friendly), turtles, and dolphins. This is all without the need of going out of your depth in the ocean. There are mild currents, so flippers are advised whilst snorkelling, we bought our own with us but they are available to borrow for the duration of your stay from the watersports shop on the all-inclusive package. This resort exceeded all expectations and I would 100% visit again in the future. Read less
